Gemini PDA - Linux / Linux desktop in lower resolution?
« on: July 19, 2018, 03:14:44 pm »
Hi All

While the Gemini's 2160x1080 is very nice, my old eyes have trouble seeing it (and using it with touch screen).

The only option in 'Monitor Settings' is maximum - is there a way to run in, say 1080x540?

Also, any other tips for making it more touch friendly?

Thanks for any ideas

Gemini PDA - Android / GeminiLED notification app
« on: July 06, 2018, 04:54:59 am »
OK, so while I was installing it asked me "do I want to trust this publisher" or something like that, and due to an involuntary muscle spasm I clicked 'no' so it didn't install.

But now when I try again to install it, it just simply refuses saying 'app not installed'.  And I can't figure out how to reset my option for trusting the publisher.

Anyone any ideas how to reset?

It looks like your Gemini can't reach the Windows PC.   Can you ping it? etc?

Yes, I can ping...
[div class=\'codetop\']CODE[/div][div class=\'codemain\' style=\'height:200px;white-space:pre;overflow:auto\']gemini@localhost:~$ ping 192.168.1.19

64 bytes from 192.168.1.19: icmp_seq=2 ttl=128 time=10.0 ms[/div]

On the desktop/server it appears to reference an ssl error:

By the way, how do you connect the two?

I'm guessing the SSL error is because you enabled the encryption setting?  Just a guess.  Lots of threads if you google 'synergy ssl error' - eg https://symless.com/forums/topic/3144-error...m-call-failure/

And how did I connect the two?  By running the server on my desktop and the client on my Gemini...

As discussed in other threads I've been working on a notification app to use the 5 LED on the Gemini.  I have called this app GeminiLED and a version now available for people to try if they wish.

Just wanted to say thanks for your work and sharing

Gemini PDA - Linux / Problem mounting NFS/CIFS

The default kernel is lacking module support. Thus many filesystems (especially nfs and samba) and  USB devices are unsupported. Build your own kernel with the filesystems you need or try my modular kernel from mygnu.de.

Ahhh... that explains it.  Not sure I'm "ready" for playing with kernels yet.  Will these modules be added in a later release?

Gemini PDA - Linux / Problem mounting NFS/CIFS
« on: June 28, 2018, 05:32:33 pm »
I've installed the Samba and NFS packages (samba, samba-common, smbfs, cifs-utils, nfs-common), but can't mount either shares.

Samba/CIFS gives me:
Code: [Select]
$ sudo mount -t cifs \\192.168.1.1\share /home/gemini/share
mount error: cifs filesystem not supported by the system

NFS gives me:
Code: [Select]
$ sudo mount -t nfs 192.168.1.1:/share /home/gemini/share
mount.nfs: No such device

Anyone any ideas what I'm doing wrong?  Both Samba and NFS shares have been working from the same server on many other Linux/Windows devices around my house

I've just been playing with Synergy on my Gemini's Debian installation.  It's so you can share your (desktop) keyboard and mouse - dragging it off the edge of the screen onto the Gemini's desktop for remote control - and much easier to click around the interface.

Code: [Select]
$ sudo apt install synergy quicksynergy
Then find the QuickSynergy icon in the Accessories menu for simple config.

And you can download the Windows/MacOS apps here: https://sourceforge.net/projects/synergy-st...ource=directory

(There is also a commercial version: https://symless.com/synergy
