Has anyone else experienced an issue where the Gemini seems to think there are headphones plugged in, even though there aren't? This has happened to me twice. Both times, I couldn't figure out why the Gemini had no sound playing, thinking it was muted or the volume was all the way down, before noticing that there was a headphone icon in the status bar (in Android -- I haven't installed any other OS). Both times, I had used headphones earlier in the day (wired, not Bluetooth). I thought there might be debris stuck in the jack socket, making it think there was something plugged in, but a reboot fixes it, so I don't think it's a hardware issue. Just curious if anyone else has experienced it. I've tried searching the forums, but it just turns up the static noise issue when nothing is playing on headphones.

Gemini PDA - Android / Planet's Agenda app released
« on: July 08, 2018, 03:56:39 pm »
I'm not sure I see the point of the weather function... It just allows me to choose from maybe a dozen cities worldwide. In the US, it's just New York and Los Angeles, and both of those places have about as much relevance to my local weather as Zagreb or Tokyo. I'd think there'd be a way to localize it a bit better than that. Please tell me I'm overlooking some obvious setting...

Gemini PDA - Android / DOS Box for Android
« on: July 04, 2018, 08:57:37 pm »
Magic DosBox is the best Android port I've ever used. It makes setting up, launching the games, and tweaking the settings easier than any other incarnation of DosBox I've ever used. There's a free and paid version -- I used the free for about five minutes before realizing the paid version was worth it.

After a week and a half of trying every app under the sun to see what works best with the Gemini's landscape format, here's what I've narrowed down as my daily drivers for most tasks:

Launcher: Nova Prime

Calendar: Business Calendar 2 (The free version is fine, but I upgraded to Pro because I liked it so much.)

File manager: Solid Explorer, although ES File Explorer is a close second.

E-Mail: MailDroid (Would be perfect if they'd add an option to swipe to delete -- right now it pops up mail handling options.)

Task Lists: Wunderlist

Web Browsing: Samsung Internet -- Got used to it on my Galaxy Tab and really liked it, and was pleased to see it was available for other devices via the app store. However, I've just installed Microsoft Edge, and it's been very, very good so far -- very clean interface.

Notes: OneNote, Google Keep

Office: MS Office

Remote Access: TeamViewer

Podcasts: Podcast Addict

PDF reader: Xodo, but am not happy with it. Would love something similar to Readdle Documents/PDF Expert for iOS, but haven't found it yet.

Video Player: VLC

Music Player: BlackPlayer EX -- it's alright, but I wouldn't mind finding something better.

Game Emulators: ScummVM, MAME4Droid, most of Robert Broglia's console emulators (NES.emu, etc.), Magic DosBox.

Comic Reader: Perfect Viewer

Ebook Reader: Moon+ Reader

Misc. Must-Have: Ultimate Rotation Control

Gemini PDA - General Discussion / Tested microSD cards?
« on: July 04, 2018, 07:21:20 am »
Right now, they're on Amazon for around $200, which is considerably less than they were just a short time ago. A 256GB card is about $85. Considering what a pain it is to swap out cards from the Gemini, I thought the extra money was worth it. I'm curious to see what sort of price range the 512 cards will settle on.

And I wasn't complaining about the available space -- that's the way all SD cards and drives are calculated. I just thought some people might be curious as to the actual capacity to expect. Considering the CF card in my Psion 5mx was 16MB, I'm pretty happy with the upgrade!

Gemini PDA - General Discussion / Tested microSD cards?

I have the SandDisk 400GB card in mine, and so far (other than having to reformat it to get the Gemini to play nice with it), it's working great. I have it about half full (mostly movies and music). As far as I can tell, it's reading the used/free space pretty accurately. And in case anyone is wondering, once formatted, it contains 366.73 GB of usable space.
