Sharp ROMs / Sl-c3000 Cacko Beta 1 Wireless Problems
« on: October 21, 2007, 05:10:09 pm »
Well, I managed to dummy it up a bit and get connected.  I changed the Spectrum.conf to the following
Code: [Select]
class "network" module "hermes", "orinoco", "spectrum_cs"
#  class "spectrum" module "hermes", "orinoco", "spectrum_cs"
#  class "hostap" module "hermes", "orinoco", "spectrum_cs"
this seems to make the Z think that it's a wired connection, and I need to have a dummy wired connection in the network settings to make the connection work.  I still have to enter ESSID and WEP key through iwconfig, so it's only really a partial work around.  If anyone can let me know how to get this card working as a network card, it would be much appricated.

Thanks

Sharp ROMs / Sl-c3000 Cacko Beta 1 Wireless Problems
« on: October 21, 2007, 03:17:39 pm »
I've spent the last Day and a half trying to get this card working in Cacko, I've searche around on the fourms and have found other people get it working properly, but when I try and follow the steps it dosn't work.  I just flashed back from pdaxii13 where the card worked perfectly.  Currently I can't get this card to work properly on my Cacko beta 1 install.  I insert the card and it recognizes with the normal task bar alert.  I've setup a profile specific to my network, and the connect button remains grayed out. Clicking current reveals that I have:
Code: [Select]
Avaible service.
Wireless Lan Service : Off Line
MAC Address :     MY:MA:CA:DD:RE:SS
AP Address:         (Blank)

heres what my spectrum.conf looks like
Code: [Select]
device "spectrum_cs"
#  class "network" module "hermes", "orinoco", "spectrum_cs"
class "spectrum" module "hermes", "orinoco", "spectrum_cs"
#  class "hostap" module "hermes", "orinoco", "spectrum_cs"

card "Spectrum24 LA4100 Series WLAN PC Card"
  manfid 0x026c, 0x0001
  bind "spectrum_cs"

card "Socket Communications CF+ LP WLAN Card"
  manfid 0x0104, 0x0001
  bind "spectrum_cs"
Line 3 was added for testing purposes, I'll get to that a little further down.
I adjusted the card line to accurately reflect the line from cardctl ident.

Here's some command output.

Dmesg:
Code: [Select]

hermes @ IO 0xf6000000: Card removed while issuing command.
...
spectrum_cs: AccessConfigurationRegister: Configuration locked

I'm not removing the card.  That goes on for about 20 lines before the card hits suspend and the hermes module is unloaded

iwconfig:

Code: [Select]

I get the folowing results if I swap the lines in spectrum.conf as follows.

Code: [Select]

I am able to manually enter my ESSID, and WEP key to iwconfig in this state, and bring eth0 up with ifconfig.  I am then able to ping off of google.ca, but when I attempt to access netfront, it tells me that I'm offline, and I don't have a properly setup profile.

Any help getting this matter resolved would be greatly appriciated.  Thanks in advance =D

Well yes, a NAND restore seemed to fix the issues.  and I can finnally breathe again

For those who might be interested,I followed the instructions located at Zaurus SL-C3000 - Stüvel.eu for the NAND restore on the 3000  Here's a C&P from the site.
Quote
Restoring a known-good NAND
If you have been messing up your Zaurus, you might need to restore a known-good NAND. It contains the basic software that gets the machine going.

   1. Download SYSTC300.DBK.gz and gunzip it.
   2. Place the file SYSTC300.DBK in the root directory of a CF/SD card.
   3. Insert the card into the Zaurus.
   4. Power down the Zaurus, remove the battery and adapter plug so that it is completely without power.
   5. Switch the battery lid lock back into the closed position, but keep the lid itself and the battery removed from the Zaurus.
   6. Press and hold the D and M buttons on the keyboard.
   7. Insert the battery and adapter, ensuring the orange battery charge light is lit.
   8. The maintenance menu will display. You can release the D and M keys.
   9. Rotate the Zaurus so the menu options are under each other and the text is in the regular orientation. Rotate the entire Zaurus, not just the screen.
  10. Press Left to go to page 3.
  11. Press OK.
  12. Press Down two times.
  13. Press OK three times.
  14. If everything is okay, you'll see a green progress bar. When it's done reset the Zaurus, replace the battery lid, and boot.
This however brought me back to the blinking battery light problem, which has been solved previously on this forum (c750 won't boot, diag menu only) and did this:
Quote
Remove battery and AC power and make sure battery switch is "open"
Insert battery, hold down D+B and close battery switch and press power.
This should boot Zaurus from Backup ROM
When booted, log in as root and do a shutdown -r now

I'm now running at full speed once more

EDIT: Pttph, Looks like I spoke too soon, I'm having battery issues as well as suspend/resume issues now.  I'm going to copy the data that I wanted off tonight, then try flashing up to the latest pdaXrom or derivitive.  then look into getting a new battery if thats not the quick fix that I'm looking for.

Edit2: The flash to PdaXii13 fixed it, and I'm liking it much more then I did cacko.  If you read this meanie, thanks for putting that release together, as it is excellent.

Something odd happened to my 3000 this weekend, I'll explain below, but here's where I sit now.  My 3000 will boot to the DIAG menu with the DM keys using either the battery, or the power cable and seems to work fine there.  This leads me to believe that my Z is recoverable.  I don't know what I should do to get it back up however, Should I try doing a NAND restore, and if so is there a step by step guide so I don't muck it up further and completely brick it.

For whatever reason It will not power on other then the diag menu. Currently attempting to power it on will cause the green HDD light to come on faintly with just the battery, and a little brighter with the power, but not quite the intensity of normal HDD activity.  This is after I ran a HDD and NAND test from the DIAG menu.  Before that the Power light would com on when the on/off button was pressed as long as there was external power.  Prior to that, I had attempted to run an fsck from battery through the OK+on/off menu, when I was receiving an error message about hda3 on boot.  It complained something in Japanese, and then restarted to the same error message.

Currently It's sitting on my desk with no battery or power cable attached I'd really like to get it working again, and I don't really care too much about the data stored in there, It would be nice to recover it, but non essential.

Thanks in advance for your replies

Accessories / Ir Remote Control

Possible, though no easy software availible. LIRC can decode the remotes signals using the Z's IR port, and IRK can be configured to take the output of LIRC and send keypresses. Figuring out how to get those programs to do that is not easy, at least with the documentation I found. You may even need a specific version of IRK to even have it accept LIRC input.

Awsome, thanks for the info.  I just bought a cheap mini remote from ebay.  I'll report back here with my sucess/failure in getting the thing set up.

Has anyone had any luck setting up and using an IR remote on the Z for say something simple like the Music or video player?  I'm looking at getting a key chain sized unit, something like the DLO iDirect for the Ipod, and using it via the Z's IR port. I was just wondering if this is possible or just a pipe dream?

Thanks a bunch

anyone got this to work and how? I put the data files in /mnt/cf/exult-data/bg[si]

gives me cant find the data files error. Any ideas?
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=98872\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

I was havving this issue to, and I managed to fix it by moving the data files from /mnt/cf/exult-data/bg[si] directory, into the static directory.

ie:  /mnt/cf/exult-data/bg[si]/static/

Leave your config file pointing at /mnt/cf/exult-data/bg[si]/ and fire it up.

Hope that helps.

Now if only I could get my sound working...
