Gemini PDA - Linux / Final call for TP3
« on: February 07, 2019, 09:27:14 am »
Multiple image choices would  be nice.

Minimal Image -- I would like to set up this device from scratch arch linux style. That way I can try different window mangers under the gemini without trying to rip out lxde, As well for logging in I only want auto login, as I only use the device so lightdm is over complicated and a waste of spce among other things. I clean base to start off with would be nice. for instance here is what somebody else is doing with the base image New gemini experience. I will try to get exwm working with ming

Kde image -- I wouldn't use this but would have a different suite of apps compared to  lxqt

other de/wm images -- So people can chose a base they want like void linux

Gemini PDA - Linux / Up to date packages on Debian
« on: January 04, 2019, 01:19:11 pm »
I have got some up to date packages on debain right now though a couple of different methods and thought other people would be interested in them, plus I am also interested in some more

Guix package manager "general packages" I used the Script chmod +x then run it  --- I have got Emacs arai2 qutebrowser "which has some bugs but still nice to have" etc... installed through this
Cargo -- "rust packages" run this command to install "curl -sSf https://static.rust-lang.org/rustup.sh | sh" -- I have got ripgrep and fd installed throgh this
Git from source -- dwm, emacs-git

Other Methods that i have looked at but haven't got around to trying/using
BedRock Linux To make a hybrid of debian and other linux distros like void linux
Changing the Debian version --- Broke on me when I tried:(

If you handle this this problem do you do it the same as me or some other method?

ps .. I am using doom emacs which is working much better because it is a keyboard focused environment witch fits perfectly with the Gemini

I have got my T-Moblie sim giving me data on my gemini following https://github.com/gemian/gemini-keyboard-a...DebuggingMobile, haven't tried sms or calls though. I can use https://jmp.chat/ to text and call over ip through a sms to jabber bridge and voip. haven't tried voip yet though.
