Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Gpe-dm Won't Start

What machine is this?

If it's a c7x0 you can press ctrl-alt-backspace/delete a few times & the x-server will be killed & you'll get  alogin prompt.

Otherwise try ssh'ing in.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Gpe-dm Won't Start
« on: December 13, 2005, 04:44:39 am »
I made a modification to my OZ3.5.4 with GPE, so when I reboot the system hangs-up on "Starting GPE display manager: gpe-dm".

Can I log on in console mode (to fix the problem) without re-flash OZ?

Please help me!

Thank you!

The JVM is the BlackBox 1.3.1 for ARM.

I tried some setting like you mentioned, today a try to specify en_US.

Thank you!

Is there a way to force the path where OZ search for the locale files?

I haven't got a clue to what program (JVM) you're refering to, so I'm just guessing here.
Type export LANG=en_US followed by your Java execution command. Maybe this will solve your locale problem
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=104867\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

I tried with this setting with I got the same error!

I don't know how to solve this!!!

Thanks for your answer.

I tried It but with no success. I read on another forum that QTopia newer than 1.2 has a serial_cs driver built-in, so I cannot replace it.

Any other idea?
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=104790\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]
The driver is never built into Qtopia - it is part of the Linux kernel. And the one in the enabler replaces the builtin one. Can you
1. install the enabler
2. insert the card
3. post
a) the dmesg log
 results of cartctl status and cardctl ident
c) result of lsmod

And, do you use the original Sharp ROM or a different kernel?

-- hns
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=104795\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

I did all you posted me:

 1) The ROM is the Original with Kernel 2.4.20

 2) DMESG -> "serial_cs: RequestConfiguration: Bad Vcc"

 3) cardctl status ->

        Socket 0:
          3.3V 16-bit PC Card
          function 0: [ready]

        Socket 1:
          3.3V 16-bit PC Card
          function 0: [ready], [bat dead], [bat-low]

 4) cardctl ident ->

        Socket 0:
          product info: "GPRS modem", "", "", ""
          manfid: 0x0279, 0x950b
          function: 2 (serial)

        Socket 1:
          product info: "Hitachi", "microdrive", "", ""
          manfid: 0x0319, 0x0000
          function: 4 (fixed disk)

  5) lsmod ->

        Module              Size     Used by
        pxa_bi               24912  0 (unused)
        net_fd                25216  0 (unused)
        usbdcore            35504   0 [pxa_bi net_fd]
        usbdmonitor       5488    0
        usb-monitor        6496    0
        sharp_mmcsd_m 41008  1

Thanks a lot!

Running a simple Java application with AWT GUI (on a SL-C3100) I get a crash with this error message: "current locale is not supported in X11, locale is set to CX locale modifiers are not supported, using defaultSIGABRT   6*   abort (generated by abort(3) routine, also SIGIOT)
    si_signo [6]: SIGABRT   6*   abort (generated by abort(3) routine, also SIGIOT)
    si_errno
  • : Success

    si_code
  • : SI_USER [pid: 2044, uid: 0]

   stackpointer=0xbfffca90".

Any idea about to solve it?

Thank you very much!!!

Hello to everybody!

I solved all my past problems posted on this forum!!!

Now I'm trying to activate my Audiovox RTM 800 on a SL-C3100 with original Zaurus OS and kernel 2.4.20.

In the dmesg I get the bad vcc error and non serial port assignment.

I tryed to replace the serial_cs with various versions on the net but without luck!

Can anybody help me?

Thank you!

telnetd? that totally unsecure protocol?

you already has dropbear (SSH server) for remote login
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=103717\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

Ok, how can I verify on the Z if this service is running? Which the process name?

Thx!
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=103723\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

I got into the Zaurus simply with Putty.

Now I need to start the INETD services...

- Where I can find a right installable IPK for Samba and INetD?
You can find the samba_3.0.10-r0_arm.ipk in the OZ 3.5.3 /feed/console

and the inetd in the inetutils_1.4.2-r0_arn.ipk in the OZ 3.5.3 /feed/libs

Greg
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=103635\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

I found the INETD server into the NETKIT-BASE ipk file, and installed this the above you mentioned, but I cannot find the file IN.TELNETD.

Where is it?

Thanks a lot!

You can install them if you want them. OpenZaurus images does not contain samba or other services which are not needed to get system working (or are usefull only for some people).
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=103623\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

Other two questions:

 - Where I can find a right installable IPK for Samba and INetD?
 - Is it correct the installation procedure I followed?

Thank you very much!

I've installed the 3.5.4-RC on my SL-C3100 with followinh the below rules:

- gpe-image-borzoi-20051022114722.rootfs.img -> initrd.bin
- zImage-borzoi-20051022114722.bin -> zImage.bin
- I skipped the HDIMAGE1.TGZ (is it the file bootstrap-image-borzoi-20051022114722.rootfs.img?)

On the file system I cannot find any of the files inetd, smbd and so on, so I cannot establish a connection with my laptop.

Did I miss something?

Cheers,

I found these problems:

 - it's very slow
 - sometimes the boot process hangs up
 - audio does not work
 - usb port does not work

At this moment I cannot remember other problems, sorry!
