If you guys gonna use the POD, you'll need power supply to it! have you guys got power to it cos there's no mention of the AC jack.

"btw....I have a 6-7 year old RCA 35in. CRT (normal TV)"

35" TV is a problem too, with the current max recording resolution for AV700, it can best go up to 21" or 25" TV. Try your previous recordings on a smaller screen TV, there will be great difference.

Cheers!

You may try these setting:

Source:........S-VIDEO (you need S-VIDEO cable)
Res:.............VGA

Btw what's your TV screen size? and is it a CRT(normal TV), LCD or Plasma....

Archos forum / Video Quality On Archos Av700 Really Poor?
« on: May 29, 2006, 12:47:11 pm »
Check out the specifications:

AV700
Display: 7" LCD 480x234 pixels, 262 000 colours
Video recording: 640x480 @ 30 f/s
Video playback: 720x480 @ 30 f/s (NTSC), 720x576 @ 25 f/s (PAL)

AV500
Display: 4" LCD 480x272 pixels, 262 000 colours
Video recording: 640x480 @ 30 f/s
Video playback: 720x480 @ 30 f/s (NTSC), 720x576 @ 25 f/s (PAL)

The AV500 have a better screen display specification and using a smaller screen of 4", the display would definately surpass that of the 7" display given a movie with the same resolution.

The sorce for recording plays a part too, have you tried recording from DVDs?

Hi ajs1975,

1 & 2.

The recorded file is separated not because of the video's duration, it's due to the converted file size of 2 GB. This 2 GB file size constraint is due to the Windows® FAT32 AVI file type specification.

You can reduce the file size by setting lower parameters for RESOLUTION and BITRATE under SETUP in the pre-recording screen. Doing this will lower the quality of the output video, do try out different setting for your needs.

cheers!

Oddly, the car adapter is L shaped, so it should fit with the travel plug.

Wonder there's any wall charger that can fit with the travel adapter??

Archos forum / Using Av500 For Video Storage Device From Sd Card

I would like to put the video from my Sanyo hd1 video camera, which uses SD cards, onto the av500 for temporary storage and possibly viewing.  Does it have a SD card reader slot?  If not could I plug in a Sd card reader into av500 and drag and drop data so I can continue to use my video camera w/ second card as 1st card is being copied?  Is it possible to view the unedited mpeg 4 files on the av500 or do I have to convert 1st?  If this is not best option for what I want to do, do you know better options? I would perfer not to lug laptop around and I need more storage space.

Not too sure if you can view your videos directly.

You'll need a card reader and i've tried many from friends and they all work. Thing to note is that you've to insert the Media card to the reader first before plugging it into Archos. It can also read powered portable harddisk but the transfer rate will kill you! USB 1.1 speed for the host port.

It'll be much wiser to purchase a OTG USB bridge (USB 2)and use it to transfer files on the Archos USB port (PC connection port). Most OTG Bridge requires fixed folder to folder transfer but archos can easily help to create the folder anywhere, anytime.

Cheers!

Hi wapyaly,

Had happened to me too, what i did and which seems to work, switch between drive mode.

For example, if you're using windows mode, swith to hard drive and then back again to windows. Vice Versa.

I'm a little bit confused over the microphone.  I'm sure I read that it was built into the player, but have also read that its built into the seperate remote control.  Does anyone know anything about this?

Affirm that the recorder is built-in with the Unit. It's on the main screen and how come you guys missed it? AudioCorder!!!

It's not actually a remote control, it's something like....erm..... walkman earphones with controls so that you can leave AV 500 in the bag while search for a song, change volume etc....
