Hi all,

I was just wondering if you could help me.  I'm a big everything noob so I'll do the best I can at describing what I need help on.

I swapped the microdrive of the c3000 with a 1gb compact flash card.  I was able to install opie on it, i think 3.5.4.1rc1.  So at least I know the card works and all.

I was wondering what I could do to put the original sharp rom on to the c3000 using the flash card.

I can't for the life of me figure out how to format or partition or whatnot.  Was it a bad idea to begin with to use a 1gb flash card?  I was mostly curious, which is why I tried it.  I searched the forums for any clues but usually the posts deal with equal 4gb microdrive swapped with a 4gb flash card or the microdrive swapped with a bigger sized card.

Thanks a lot and sorry to bug,

Eijei

No dice either using /dev/ttyS3.  I get stuck with "Setting Speaker Volume" just like I do setting modem device to /dev/modem.

Thanks for the help thus far.

In terms of dmesg, after I plugged in my card, here's the line that I got that's different than dmesg without the card:

Serial: 8250/16550 driver $Revision: 1.90 $ 4 ports, IRQ sharing disabled
ttyS3 at I/0 0xc48403f8 (irq = 137 ) is a TI16750

Here's where I am now,

I followed what Hrw recommended and now at the pcmcia launcer icon it now shows "NTT DoCoMo".  So that's cool.

Next, I went to Settings --> Network and clicked Add.

I selected a new PPP device (only option) and made a new account in the Accounts tab.

I entered a connection name and the correct phone number.  I also went into the Authentication tab and typed in the Username and Password.  Authentication was left alone to PAP/CHAP.  (Although, I have no idea what pap/chap is or any of the other options.

I then went to the modem tab and entered a new modem.  I typed in NTT DoCoMo for modem name.

For Modem device, my options are "/dev/modem", "/dev/ircomm0", and "/dev/ttyS0".  I chose "/dev/modem".

I also set connetion speed to 115200.  (The card goes up to 64k.)

I went back to the Network Settings window and selected the mopera (NTT DoCoMo) device and clicked Start/Stop.  In the next window I clicked Start.  At the little info window at the bottom, it'll say "Looking for Modem", then "Modem Ready", then "Initializing Modem", then "Setting speaker volume..." at which point it just stays there.

So there's where I'm at now.  I hope I'm not causing anyone too much trouble with my newbishness.

Thanks for the help so far.

Hi all,

Just to begin, I'm pretty useless at linux and I've clicked on message upon message in this message board trying to figure out how to get my ntt docomo phs wireless modem/wlan card to work with my sl-c3000 on openzaurus (3.5.4rc).  I'm using opie.

The card works on the standard sharp rom.  I can log onto the docomo network (I'm currently in Japan) and use the internet.  Using openzaurus, however, the system recognizes the card and even the name of the card shows up on the launcher, but I can't figure out how to get it to dial up.

I've gone through the network settings and added a new ppp device.  When I try to start the device however, it remains stuck with the messsage regarding trying to start the speaker.  (I don't remember so well since I reinstalled the original sharp rom at the moment.)

My card is an NTT DoCoMo P-in Free 2PWL compact flash card.  If i use the card with the sharp rom or on my mac (powerbook) I normally have to dialup to use it.

I could just stick with the sharp rom, but oz runs so nice and smooth... =P

Thanks for your time,

eijei

p.s. this is my first ever post to any discussion board so i hope i didn't type anything incorrectly or unclearly.  Thanks again.
