Cosmo Communicator - Linux / Login required and encryption in Termux
« on: March 07, 2020, 04:37:16 am »
Hey guys.

I'd like to use Termux on the cosmo to log in to my cloud servers, but I don't want to have my ssh keys available if my phone is lost/stolen.

(I don't use the fingerprint detection as I find it doesn't unlock reliably for my use case)

Is it possible to setup an encrypted directory that I have to manually unlock every time I start a new Termux terminal?

Thanks,
Ian

Thanks

Cosmo Communicator - Hardware / Unresponsive Del key
« on: February 12, 2020, 04:38:40 am »
I've been using my Cosmo for two months, and just this week the Del key is intermittently unresponsive.  I have to push on the very left hand side of it to get a reliable response.

Any advice?  Thanks.

When I synced my google calendar to Agenda it added alarms to every existing entry, which made me very sad and frustrated.

Google Calendar app is pretty unusable in landscape.

Cosmo Communicator - General Discussion / Film on new cosmo screen

Try restarting - the responsiveness of the screen sans film is about the same as my Note 8 was.

I'd personally recommend removing the film - the screen looks a lot nicer without it.

Cosmo Communicator - Android / Why are apps suddenly rotating?
« on: January 08, 2020, 05:03:49 am »
In the last few days suddenly apps such as RingGo and Google Calendar will flip to "portrait" view at times (the phone has not been rotated) - any idea what has caused this change?

Cosmo Communicator - General Discussion / Poor battery life

Let's face it 2 screens are going to drain battery faster if you want more battery life turn front screen off simples

You think a one inch screen should use 3x as much battery on its own as a 6 inch screen and a powerful phone/computer using wifi and GSM??  Simples!

Cosmo Communicator - General Discussion / Car mount

I bought one of https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01D00C...=UTF8&psc=1 for the Gemini, and it handles the Cosmo too.

I'm probably unusual in that I like mine on the right, portrait, keyboard on the right, so I can use Google Maps.  I stick the screen in the holder, and leave the keyboard flapping (not that it flaps, but you know what I mean).  Works well.

Only problem is, on the Cosmo they've disabled the rotation control, and Fn-S-R rotates the wrong way.  Ultimate Rotation Control sorts that.

Thank you.

I don't have a lock on my Cosmo, so the front screen just seems to get triggered in my pocket the whole time.

(Also, when in the media player, the buttons no longer control the volume.   I need external volume buttons!!!)

Not sure I want to wait for PC to get their act together - has anyone seen a car mount that can handle a Cosmo?

Cosmo Communicator - General Discussion / Headphone jack problem
« on: December 02, 2019, 09:52:32 am »
I plug my headphones into the phone with no media playing.

A quiet alarm-like sound plays for 4 seconds, then goes off for 4 seconds, then goes back on - forever.

Really disturbing!

That didn't work - this is causing me an issue now.  Will do some research.
