Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Firefox Input Broken
« on: September 28, 2006, 06:17:47 pm »
It would be nice if we had somewhat more recent version of Firefox

I tried to compile it myself, but it didnt quite work when I run it. It was either abysmally slow loading or just hang.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Usb Mouse?

For starters it would help to know which machine you are using.

USB mice work just fine w/ SL-Cxx00, dunno about our other USB Host models, tho.
There are quite a few config changes required to make a USB mouse work out of the box.

Since you had a go at the code, I can tell you this:
Yes, kdrive is bugged in regards to input devices. In a perfect world it should work just fine with multiple input devices at once and transparently so.

However, currently only either the touchscreen or the USB mouse will be useable.

The input device has to be configured on kdrive launch (check /etc/X11/Xserver for all options supplied). Usually it is hard-wired to the touchscreen but that can be changed.

SL-Cxx00 has udev, xserver-common and tslib (and one or two more ) changes applied which allow a user to plug in his USB mouse, restart X and use the mouse w/o touching a single config.

Hint: If you do not set any input device on kdrive launch, /dev/psaux will be used which enables your USB mouse. And no, setting the input device to "/dev/psaux" will not work....

Thanks

C3100

Thanks, I nuked the X server with ctrl-alt-backspace with mouse connected and it works. I thought that login screen restarts the x server but apparently it doesnt.

The mouse works and the touchscreen kinda works - now it is in some kind of relative mode.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Usb Mouse?
« on: July 18, 2006, 05:04:13 pm »
It works in kernel. Works with GPM. Doesnt work in X server. From my kdrive code analysis it looks that if the touchscreen #ifdef is enabled the touchscreen code completely obscures underlying mouse driver.

Does anyone know if it was fixed in newer kdrive? Mouse works just fine in pdaXrom X server. What X server do they use?

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Urxvt: Can't Get Colour...
« on: July 14, 2006, 07:57:10 pm »
rgb.txt goes to /usr/lib/X11
you have to create the directory
it is hardcoded in kdrive, you can find the string in Xfbdev "/usr/lib/X11/rgb" to which .txt is appended

funny thing, rxvt couldnt find #XXXXXX colors but when i specified black, green, yellow etc etc it read them just fine from rgb.txt and i have colors working. maybe it is not a problem with X but with rxvt?

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Zd1211 Based Usb Wifi Stick Help
« on: July 13, 2006, 05:55:43 pm »
I just installed zd1211 module, ran depmod -a, plugged in my usb contraption device and loaded zd1211 and it seems the driver initialized just fine.

btw my contraption device is a small plastic project box with
5V 6800MAh external Li-ion battery (originally for PSP).
Tiny little powered usb hub wired to the battery
ZD1211 USB wifi dongle hardwired to the hub
some USB BT dongle hardwired to the hub
two standard free USB ports available
mini-a and extra power cable to connect to zaurus
convenient velcro tape to attach it to the bottom of zaurus ;-)

What do you guys think about it?
It seems to support Intel Bulverde, TI OMAP and Motorola MX2

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Partions And 3.4.5.1
« on: April 30, 2006, 07:30:38 pm »
I have /dev/hda1 (8GB-128MB) ext3
and /dev/hda2 128MB swap

There is a lot of "cannot mount" messages when zaurus starts but otherwise its all fine.
After I added swap to fstab it is switched on automagically on boot.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Video Accel For Pxa270 Under 2.6 Here
« on: April 29, 2006, 03:27:52 am »
Damn kids, grow up.
Instead of quarelling, work on the kernel together. Both OZ and pdaXrom would only benefit from it.
Can't we just get along?

You guys need a chill pill.

Maybe you should better talk about how to make it into non-ugly hack and maybe work together on 2.6 kernel.

I don't understand all this whole pdaXrom <> OZ animosity

Now get back to work and compile me some kernel!

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / 3.5.4.x Upgrades

Can we please enable hostap driver in wpa_supplicant? it is as easy as uncommenting single line in defconfig CONFIG_DRIVER_HOSTAP=y
Wpa_supplicant tends to work best with hostap driver in native mode, especially when authenticating with 802.11x networks. Using 0.4.8 with hostap driver disabled I cannot connect to wireless network at my workplace.

I tried to build wpa_supplicant myself but I think I didnt configure the tree properly because it used gcc 4

Thanks.

Interesting. Do you have one? If you can get it to work on a desktop linux machine (ideally with a 2.4 kernel), it could be made to work on the zaurus.

Guylhem

Not yet.
I have to order it.

Btw, this is my latest experiment

- el cheapo small usb hub
- airlink wifi dongle
- trendnet bt dongle (pdaxrom 2.4 kernel does not detect it ;-() it works in my desktop and in my laptop though
- 512mb flash drive

 [ Invalid Attachment ]

unfortunately zaurus does not have enough mojo to power all these devices together

but it works in my Vaio U3

maybe I can stuff this into my Vaio!

I found an interesting device
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16833156046

Single dongle that does both wifi and bluetooth. I have downloaded windoze drivers from Trendnet website and it seems the wifi part uses Zydas ZD1211 chip.

Today I found Zydas ZD1211 based USB Wifi dongles on sale at Fry's for $8.99+tax!
its called Airlink 101 AWLL3026/NA

It opens up very easily. I wonder if the PCB will fit inside C3100.
