OpenZaurus/Opie/Qtopia / Mplayer Video Troubles

Can you post the command line you're using and the contents of ~/.mplayer/config (iirc), please?

A link to the video might be useful too.

First, the problem seems to have disappeared and I really do not know why. Here are the files I was testing anyway. It seems the XviD CVS does not play well, but the normal XviD 1.1.0 plays okay.

[a href=\"http://www.filefactory.com/file/79a05e/]http://www.filefactory.com/file/79a05e/[/url]
http://www.filefactory.com/file/f7370f/

Those are both files I tested. My config file is apparently completely empty.

Does anyone know a way to get fbdev to work? Because when I use it the playback is very smooth but it is partially off the screen and I have no system control until the video finishes playing. I would really like to use that -vo option. Does anyone know a fix for these problems?

OpenZaurus/Opie/Qtopia / Mplayer Video Troubles
« on: October 12, 2006, 06:09:54 pm »
I am using Opie 3.5.4.1 on my Zaurus 3100. I downloaded and installed mplayer version 1.0pre8-3.4.4 with the Opie package manager.

I am trying play a small 1MB 15fps XviD video. It plays the video in with strange verital lines throughout the whole picture. Also, the picture is only showing about 1/4 of the total video, just stacking it one on top of the other. Said another way, it is only showing 25% video screen, but repeating that 25% four times, along with the very strange color banding.

This color banding looks like vertical interlacing, expect the video is not interlaced....

Sorry I cannot provide a picture, but it will not let me take a screen shot while playing from console...

Anyway, I have tried using all the options for -vo I can think of and the picture does not change. I do not know what to do. When I tell it to play with -vo fbdev, the video is good, but half of it is off screen and I cannot control mplayer at all. This bug has been reported in other threads.

Sorry for a possible double post, but I was recommended to post here for possible help.

Accessories / Where To Buy Cf Wifi For Zaurus?
« on: July 28, 2006, 01:35:41 am »
I have searched around a bit, specifically on NewEgg.com, and I cannot find any place that seems to sell any of the supported wireless cards listed here:

https://www.oesf.org/index.php?title=Wireless_Card_Support

I would like to get something like a buffalo. Can anyone recommend a good store online to order these CF cards from?

Edit: Never mind. I fixed my problem. One of the file extensions was named .tar.gz instead of .tgz

C1000/3x00 Hardware / Encoding Videos For Zaurus

I think MKV support under Linux is still in developing stages [It wasn't until four months ago mplayer with mkv support enabled would emerge under Gentoo], but if it can be done, I'll happily make it the default in my next update.

Its funny that mkv is still perceived as the bleeding edge. Someone else mentioned AAC audio, which is considerably newer than the mkv project. That format just been pushed everywhere and implemented in many things, so it seems less bleeding edge.

About the video encoding this, I would be interested if anyone has comments about the ogg media container (OGM) and vorbis audio in their videos for the Zaurus series.

That script looks rather handy. I will probably write a similar script that can use Avidemux to encode videos....

Hello. I am going to try to put Debian on my Zaurus SL-c3100. I need help getting my Zaurus to boot from a Compact Flash and install a tiny distro of linux (preferably some VERY small copy of Debian) to my PDA. I am not looking for help on dual-booting with some other OS on the device.

I want to put Debian on the internal 128MB flash drive and run something like IceWM or Fluxbox off it if possible. I am impressed with Damn-Small Linux and so I feel that I can probably do something get a very basic working linux system running with some good graphics on my PDA without too much trouble or harddrive space.

OpenZaurus/Opie/Qtopia / Debian On Opie -- Do Not Know How To Start
« on: July 03, 2006, 10:15:07 pm »
I have a Zaurus SL-c3100 running Opie 1.2 with OpenZaurus 3.5.3 (I think). I am trying to install Debian on my little machine, and I have successfull followed these instructions here:

http://greenant.net/portal/greenant/wiki/D...cketworkstation

But I do not know how to launch debian. I have no idea how I should start it. Can someone help?

why I said reinstall is the symlink msg's, I find those quite "odd"
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=111035\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

Just got a 3100 and Im working on getting this working too... is your partition formatted ext3? if not then you will have big problems with the symlinks IIRC. I'll post more when i get this working on my new Z.
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=111152\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

The installed harddrive should be ext2/3, but I do not know about the non-4GB harddrive section. I will have to check. I'm going to give this install another try soon and we will see what happens.

I used the infos from http://www.eleves.ens.fr/home/leurent/zaurus.html to install Debian on my C3100 ( i've installed on internal hard drive)

I modified my Vncserver according to the instruction but when i try to

start Vncserver i receive :

rm: cannot remove /tmp/.X1-lock Operation not permitted

Fatal server error:
Colud not create server lock file: /tmp/.X1-lock

Any helps ???
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=115906\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

I had similar problems but never found a solution. I would love to know how to start the VNC session. I will be trying again later.

C1000/3x00 General discussions / Starting Debian On Zaurus Sl-c3100
« on: January 15, 2006, 05:49:08 am »
I am running the latest version of Cacko on my Zaurus sl-c3100, but I have installed debian onto my harddrive in a very standard and normal way. By this I mean, I downloaded the zaurus-big-v0.18.tgz, extracted it to my /hdd3/debroot folder, ran the postinst.sh. I then removed the INSTALL.d/ directory, as I no longer needed it.

For more information, I followed the instructions here in the section "Installing Debian GNU/Linux"
http://wiki.debian.org/?PocketWorkstationXQT
The only thing I changed was I installed onto my harddrive, not my flash drive.

However I cannot get anything to start. I run the command 'Vncserver' and then 'Fbvnc' but I now get errors, and before nothing happened. When I run 'Vncserver' I get the message:

chroot: cannot execute zvncserver: Too many levels of symbolic links

and of course 'Fbvnc' will not work if the previous command will not work.

I have had a lot of trouble in the past with just getting the vnc GUI session to start after I get debian installed. I really just need some help actually starting the debian system that I installed.

I don't care if I have to reinstall, or what I need to do. If someone has a good idea on how to install debian onto their z3100 and then actually start a GUI session, please tell me. Thanks.

C1000/3x00 General discussions / After Flash Zaurus 3100 Will Not Turn On
« on: December 28, 2005, 10:59:28 pm »
Well, here is the story. I have successfully installed debian onto my system, but there are new problems. I cannot get Opie to install anymore. I run through the install describe generally here:
http://openzaurus.org/wordpress/installation/sl-c3000/

And using these files here for in the install:
http://ewi546.ewi.utwente.nl/mirror/www.op....5.4-RC/sl3100/

Opie installs down to the command line but it will not start up a GUI session. Any ideas what the problem is?

From the Opie command line I installed Debian on my system but there is no GUI that I can start, so its kind of useless.
