General Discussion / Pyramidlinux ?
« on: May 02, 2006, 04:55:40 pm »
While searching Ubuntu website I found a link to one of its derivatives intended for embedded systems - Pyramid Linux. Has anyone heard of it?

It seems to be in a very early stage so far, but having Ubuntu on Zaurus (although it is not specified for what devices it will be developed) would be fantastic!

Here's their web:
http://pyramid.metrix.net/

This is the mentioned ubuntu website:

Software / Opera Mini
« on: April 07, 2006, 08:58:49 pm »
Thanks a lot for these instructions!
Five remarks:

1. basic operamini works on my Zaurus SL-5500 cacko rom, while advanced doesn't (so if someone is worried that it will not work at all just change to basic option)

2. there are inverted commas missing at one point in the script (after the second-time opera-mini-... should be twice, i.e. "") so it should properly be:

x----COPY----X
#/bin/sh

if [ `which evm 2>/dev/null` ]
then
   evm -Xprogress -XappName=$0 -cp "me4se.jar:javapng-2.0-rc3.jar:opera-mini-1.2.2960-basic-us.jar"" org.me4se.MIDletRunner com.opera.browser.Browser
fi

if [ `which java 2>/dev/null` ]
then
   java -cp "me4se.jar:javapng-2.0-rc3.jar:opera-mini-1.2.2960-basic-us.jar"" org.me4se.MIDletRunner com.opera.browser.Browser
fi
x----PASTE----X

3. my script filename is simply " operamini " without " sh " as commonly Zaurus executables have no extension, I don't know if it changes anything

4. Obviously remember to change references in the script to the proper filenames - in my case that was opera-mini-1.2.3214-basic-uk.jar

5. I also put the relevant jad file in the same directory  - just in case - so try that if else it doesn't work

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Collie Oz-opie 3.5.4 Issues

haven't been brave enough to try 3.5.4 yet (on Hentges 3.5.3 atm), had a similar problem with my CF card in an older version though.  Resolved it by making the os eject the card when going into suspend mode rather than suspending the card.  Can't remember the exact location of the script right now, but I'm sure one of the OZ gurus can tell you where.
As I recall, it only occurred with certain cards (mine is a 256Mb Toshiba badged as Memorex).

1. Strangely enough it now after some days of usung seems to be a rule that if a CF card is inserted and after resuming I wait until all processes of mounting etc finish - it works fine. So that's just a bit annoying that I have to wait those few seconds before being able to access my datebook for example. But when I try to resume collie without the CF card - it freezes until reboot...

2. Any ideas how to make an SD card visible in the tray?

3. How to avoid activating cards and deactivating after every suspend-resume?

Best!

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Collie Oz-opie 3.5.4 Issues
« on: March 23, 2006, 05:01:51 pm »
Hi, I've got collie as well, happy to have new OZ 3.5.4 (congrats!) and agree that there are some problems as mentioned by amdonati, namely:

- SD card not shown in tray although working
- freezes quite often (my most often used application is calendar, I switch the Zaurus on in order to put in new appointment, it detects CF and often freezes at this point or when I try to suspend it, so that I have to move the button in the back to "replace battery" and restart..., of course date and time restes to 13th March)

to narazie tyle wrazen.
