Hi,

Anyone have trouble making re-acurring calendar appointments?  Like my problem is when I schedule a calendar appointment then click on the 'no repeat..' button to make the appointment repeat for say weekly, when I save it, that re-acurring appointment does not show up on the calendar!  It's like it disappears!

and for the record, UMD disks are now unsuported by the big movie industries.  I find it rediculous that you need to buy a regular dvd to watch spiderman on the hdtv and then need to pay fullprice for umd disk to watch it as well on the psp.  That was my major burning bloodboiling decision not to buy one.  I have over 250 plus dvd movies which i did not intend to buy umd disks to watch on the psp.  frankly ripping and playing it on sonystick(another drakonian piece of hardware) was more of a better choice.

i got one for you, get an ipod and dont use your z as a mp3 player.

Yeah, it's pretty funny that movie industry decided not to support UMD anymore.  Scratch another propreitary solution off the list .

On Sunday, I had a girl in a electronic store doing a good sales job trying to convince me I needed a PSP.  She told me that currently, only 256MB memory sticks are available.  That is not a lot of space for 250 movies .  But then she goes, 'but you can attach a portable hard drive to the PSP'.  Then I whip out the 'Z' and go, "well, this already has a 4GB hard drive, 1 GB SD card, and I can at least play Mike Tyson's Punch-out on it" (of course I couldn't play punch-out without your .ipk work Cresho).  Plus, I am not sure what people would think at work if I were bringing the PSP around, using it as a calendar/planner (she told me they have calendar/planner SW for it but....doesn't seem too practical because the PSP doesn't have a touch-screen or a built-in keyboard).

I'll wait until the PSP goes down to $150 before I decide to buy one...which will probably be when the PS3 comes out .  The 'Z' seems like the best-all-round device for me.

I did try several things with the screen rotation- manipulating the .desktop file, turning the screen, doing the on-the-fly rotation...doubt I hit the 'magnified screen off'.  

I also tried playing with the cvm command-lines too for a while.

Hey, on a bit of a different subject, anyone notice that some Java apps don't load on the Zaurus for no apparent reason?

I followed Meanie's Java instructions in his zbook3k manual down to a T.  I picked Sun's Personal Java Solution, the pp4zaurus.  I installed Meanie's jlauncher and even midp launch.  Now I installed all of this on my SD card, but the SD card is formated with ext2 extension.

I created a CLASSPATH environment variable to point to where all the .jar/.class files were (in the j2me/lib directory).

I picked four java files to download and test:

(cocktail drink program)

Chess and the cocktail program worked for me.  Warp and the star explorer program did not.  Both tried to load, starting with the Z going black then the words "Please Wait" then it died.

The chess program actually calls evm, and since the java I installed uses cvm, I figured it loaded correctly because of Meanie's jlauncher program (good thinking Meanie!).

I later followed Meanie's suggestion of adding swingZ and rt .jar files into the j2me/lib directory, but that did not make any difference for the star explorer program and warp.

I did try hdpad_1.0_arm.ipk and got the following error, whether I ran java OR cvm on my linux laptop OR Zaurus:

[freyguy@localhost Desktop]$ java install.class
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: install/class

So much for 'design it once, run anywhere' Java motto?

you will need to uninstall and reinstall my keyfix because  that file reffers to the super nintendo games.  what you need to do is to create a directory /home/zaurus/.zgnuboy and rename znester.rc to zgnuboy.rc and pace the file into this directory.  let me know if this works and ill update the keyfix ipk installer.

next week, ill find the timeto add joystick to the emulator...if school doesnt screw me up

Hey Cresho,

I created zgnuboy.rc from znester.rc.  That fixed the rotation problem with the keys.  Simple fix!

So did I understand you correctly, that you said the fix to put 'L' as pause was only good for snes games?  That is what I am experiencing.  I have removed znester.rc all together.  I have no issue with rotation problems with either nes or snes games.  And for snes, the 'L' button is now pause.  But for zgnuboy and turbo grafix games and nes games, pause is still enter/ok.

So in summary, the only .rc file I am using is
/home/zaurus/zgnuboy.rc

which is just a rename of znester.rc.

snes has the 'L' for pause working and that is it.  All other emulators still use enter/ok for pause.

How can you get nes and gnuboy fixed where 'L' is also pause?  Is there some environment variable that can use the numbers you defined for S9XKEYS?

1. First, in your "cack users read.txt" (I have cacko 1.23 on my c3100) you mispelled 'zemufeex_smc.sh'   :

then modify this file /home/QtPalmtop/bin/zamufeex_smc.sh

2. the snes, nes, and turbo graphix buttons work as advertised, with one problem.  I followed that cacko readme to disable the pause/quit feature and move that to 'L':

Hi,

I have a question.

When I launch zgnuboy from the command-line, the resulting screen winds up being displayed in the center of my screen and very tiny- almost useless for playing games.  How can I make the emmulator take up my entire C3100 screen?

I did a netstat -rn...the system does not have an entry:

I also did a 'vim /var/log/messages' on my PC, here is what I found after I plugged in the Z:

then I did a 'dmesg' on the Z, this is what I got:

Out of curiousity, do I need I different usb cable?  I have the one that came with the Z, which is supposed to make the Z a slave device instead of a master, I believe.

ok, this is good news, your Z *is* running sshd. Try, on the Z, doing
"ssh 127.0.0.1" and verifying you can ssh back into the Z from itself.

Then, when the Z is connected, do "ifconfig -a" and see if there's a device called "usbd0" with an IP address of 192.168.129.201, and make sure the interface is UP.

On the PC, do "ipconfig /all" if windows and see what's what. If linux, do "ifconfig -a" and verify there's a usb0 device.

I have found that a Z with a nearly flat battery when using a sync/charge cable can load the USB port so much that it partly shuts down and you don't get a working connection!

if you use bluetooth for networking, you'd use a different address.

putty automatically chooses the correct port for ssh but you can override it

in Cacko, ssh is run by inetd - if you use "netstat -an | grep 22" you'll see something listening on tcp:22.

Nope, I'm trying to do an ssh through the USB connection, just like what was demonstrated with the triSOFT document used to set up intellisync (although they used telnet).  

And nope, I still don't get a connection:

did you try ssh to it? might just not be running as a standalone daemon but running from inetd instead just like the samba service.

on a related note, since I don't have Cacko 1.23 running at the moment, can someone please paste the output of the mount command here? I just want to check what the cramfs image on Cacko is mounted as since I cannot remember.

So this is where I get all confused.  Windows XP actually does not have 'ssh' command-line like Linux.  I have two ssh programs, one I cannot remember, the other puTTY: [a href=\"http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/]http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/[/url].  Both ask for the USB IP which is 192.168.129.201.  But both ask for a port number.  I enter port number 23, because I thought that was the port number needed as Microsoft telnet was complaining it couldn't open that port (see my earlier error message).  The other ssh program I have which I don't remember the name asks for a login, which I have no clue so I just stick in 'zaurus'.  But in either case, they both fail.

On my Linux laptop at home I have tried:

New question:

Even though I got intellisync to work and the zaurus is sync'ing with Outlook now, I cannot do a simple telnet from Windows XP to my zaurus:

Microsoft Telnet> open
(to) 192.168.129.201
Connecting to 192.168.129.201...Could not open connection to the host, on port 23: Connect failed

Anyone have a guess on why this is failing and how I can correct this?  In 'PC Link' I have 'PC Link Setting' set, with hostname 'zaurus' with USB IP set to 192.168.129.201 and connection 'USB- TCP/IP (advanced)'?

Again I have a c3100 with the Cacko 1.23 ROM on it.
