I'm looking to run Linux off of a USB drive (512MB). I would like to have:

-A 2.6.x kernel
-Hardware detection so I can use it on any machine
-The ability to uninstall whatever came with the distro
-GCC readily available
-Some space left over so I can actually use it as a USB drive

Any suggestions?

I'm running slax off a 512 USB and have plenty of space left,
I'm not sure if gcc is there to start with, I put the windows install files on there so I could put it on other machnes with DJGCC.

FreeCharge Mobile Charger

Does anyone have experience with a charger such as these, or a solar option.  I'd like to take mine on a cycle tour and can't count on a plug.

With the new daylight savings coming into effect soon in North America, has anyone produced a new timezone file for the zaurus?    My SuSE updates downloaded last week.

I also recommend the IBM courses, including LPI tutorials.

HP offers 3 courses, the latest is here

Thanks , using the sramfs version did the trick, a bit of fiddling with the keyhelper and I found the {} and compiled hello world.

Now I seem to have lost \.

Where can I find the squashfs kernel module?

Found another post that mentioned that the Yen character is what you get when you use a \ in a Japanese font.  So my c code will look a little funny, now to get COBOL running in a dosbox.

I'm having trouble mounting the sqaushfs using the instuctions on the cutomization site.

when I try

#mount -o loop /hdd3/zgcc2-95-2.squashfs /mnt/zgcc

I get  failed: invalid argument

I'm running a stock sharp image.

Is there another package that needs to be loaded first?

either use the cramfs image instead or install the squashfs kernel module

I have my new 3200 and am trying to install perl
I have located a Peerl__5.8.0_arm.ipk
Using the package nstaller it installed but there were errors.
Where can I find the error messages?
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=137413\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

I went to terminal, and su
and tried again and I get a message that the drive is read only

This package was originally created for the 5500.

I noticed that the filesystem is a bit different from my other machines, is there a document explaining the sharp file system and where things are supposd to go?  Are the other images closer to LSB?

I finally got the fgilab sudoku to load, and the old palm stylus is working, but doesn't fit in the slot.

I just purchased a PSP 2 n 1 USB charging & Sync retractable cable.
I plug it in and charges ok until about 58% full then the power light just blinks.
I guess its not pushing enough current thru & getting feedback from the battery when it reaches that level?

I just came across  this unit, which charges from a usb port or car
palmOne Mobility Kit for Tungsten E, Zire, Zire 21.

Has anyone else seen this?

Is there a list of which other PDA's have similar power requirements?

Reading a Zaurus web site today,  I came across a comment that there was plenty of documents if you could read Japanese.

Doesn't the Zaurus ship with Japanese English dictionaries and translation tools?

Has anyone tried using a Zaurus to translate the Zaurus documentation?

I'm not as close to ordering as the thread founder, but hope to by month end.
I'm still wondering if a laptop might not be a better choice.

I'd like to use it to:

read PDF's - OK
View digital photos, slideshow  -OK
play music -OK
wireless websurfing -OK

can it also handle these additional wants?

write scripts (bash, perl,PHP)
Compile a usb kernel driver at OLS
