5x00 Hardware / Battery problems
« on: November 16, 2004, 10:57:15 am »
Nevermind - I should have done a forum search first, and next time, I will. I found instructions for resetting the Z, and now the charging is working. Whew!

5x00 Hardware / Battery problems

Hi - long time lurker, hoping I can get help! I went out of town for a couple of weeks and forgot to take my Zaurus with me. Argh. Now when I put it in its cradle to charge, it won't charge at all. The charging indicator light doesn't come on.

Is there anything I can try?

Thanks in advance...

Accessories / Cases..
« on: May 03, 2004, 12:22:16 pm »
Recently I ordered and received a Xigma case for my 5500. It\'s beautifully made, but...it\'s half suede. ICK.

I went back to Xigma\'s English page where I\'d found the case and ordered it before; I wanted to see if I\'d somehow missed that little detail about the suede. The English page is http://xigma.jp/en/. Under \"Carrying Cases\" is the \'Other\' link I used before to find the case for the 5500. The model is listed along with a bunch of other PDAs; but the links to the cases are all now dead. So I can\'t look at the pics again to see what I missed, and it seems that they aren\'t selling 5500 cases anymore.

Grr! Now I have a great looking case that I really can\'t use because it\'ll get crappy very fast. What were they thinking, making a PDA case half suede!!??

Accessories / Superb Handmade Leather Cases for Zaurus SL-5500

These cases look just like the Piel Frama cases made for Sharp Zaurus. Check it out: www.pielframa.com; see under \'Sharp\' and also in their luxury line, which includes ostrich I think. Perhaps Anokhi is now a distributor.

I ordered a Xigma book-style case and it arrived last week. I love the quality, but...it\'s half suede, which I didn\'t realize when I ordered it. My bad, I guess. The suede will eventually get really gross, plus it looks \'girly\' and not terribly rugged (although it\'s very rugged indeed).

Thanks for all the replies, peoples. I discovered that my card will work with other wireless networks, but not in my office.
The wireless set-up here is an Apple Airport. My connection has worked before; perhaps something has changed that I\'m not aware of.

Anyway, thanks again - at least I know my card isn\'t dead!

Ok, I\'ve posted something about this in the newbie section, but thought I might try here, also.

I have an Ambicom Wireless CF card, WL1100C-CF. I bought it because of all the terrific things I\'d heard about it here on these forums; I\'m running the delivered ROM (version 2.37) on a 5500. Well, at first the card was a little tricky to get working; I had to eject the card, reboot the Zaurus, insert the card, and then turn the Zaurus off and then on. THEN the card would work. Now, it\'s not working at all. I get a flashing green light on the card, and a Host Not Found message when I try to connect to the Internet.

Now, I know I\"ve configured my network settings and Wireless LAN settings correctly, because I have other wireless devices that are set up the same way and they work just fine.

Does anyone out there have tips on what might be the problem? I am within 10 feet of the access point, so it\'s not distance. Perhaps the card has gone bad? I haven\'t tried another card in the Zaurus; perhaps I should, but I\'d have to buy another, and then if that doesn\'t work, I\'m stuck with 2 cards I can\'t use.

I should say, the Zaurus does recognize the card. Cardctl insert and eject both work; cardctl status gives 3.3v 16-bit PC Card/function 0: [ready]

cardctl reset makes the light glow steadily, but it still won\'t connect.

Thanks in advance -

General Discussion / Ambicom Wireless Card Install
« on: April 13, 2004, 02:58:45 pm »
Well, my Ambicom card (running on a 5500 with default ROM) gives me trouble constantly. Sometimes, I have to eject the card, reinsert it and then it MIGHT work. If it doesn\'t work, I have to eject it again and then reboot. Sometimes the reboot freezes the Zaurus. Then, I have to do a hard reset. Luckily, I do regular backups!!

After a hard reset, the card works for a while, and then stops. It\'s not the network settings - could it be my ROM? Anyone know how I can fix this?

Thanks in advance.

Software / Importing Mozilla address book?
« on: November 12, 2003, 04:44:18 pm »
Hi all - this is my first post, and I\'m a complete Zaurus newbie, so please bear with me. Bear with me also if this is not the correct forum for this question!

I have a *ton* of addresses in my Mozilla email client. I\'d love to export them to my Zaurus SL5500. I\'m running the default Sharp ROM that shipped with the PDA - 2.3.7, plus Qtopia 1.5. My Mozilla version is 1.2.1.

In Mozilla, I can choose to export the address file as comma or tab delimited, or as an *.ldif file. Will any of these work and if so, how do I go about importing the file to my Z?

Thanks in advance -
Barbara
