Have you tried the Hentges Rom yet?  I used it on my 5000d for months.  It just works.  (But I never tried syncing)

Use the one a version back from the testing one (3.5.4.1) - and it will work great.

google Hentges - or look around on this forum.  It may be the last Rom you install

When I first installed qpsword I got the '1" instead of text too.  I changed the permissions on the directory where they are installed and all is well.  Try the following command and see if this allows you to see the text:

chmod -R 777 /home/root/usr/share/sword/modules
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=134849\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

AWESOME = I chased this problem for 2 days.  When I started QPSword, the program loaded, but the books were blank.  I had to install the books via the terminal
#su
# ipkg -force-depends install "my ipk book here"

Then i ran the permissions setting
#chmod -R 777 /home/root/usr/share/sword/modules

And it worked!!  This was the last thing to make my Z perfect (except for that syncing problem =)

I used this for my SL 5500 (actually a 5000D)

Software / Mplayer Movies - Audio Limited To 10 Minutes

No, the file will play fine with different players, it's just in mplayer on my Z that it cuts out.  I suppose I could recut the files to be less than 10 minutes each, but that would be some workaround. =)

ask in the hentges/openzaurus forum.  They have more expirience than I do.  I'm just saying that mplayer supports divx codec from v3 to 5

Thanks, I'll do that.

try divx. i have over 12 movies on my c3100 and on my old z, use to carry around 4 on a 1gb flash

Thanks for your response!

Would I play these in Mplayer with different commands - getting rid of "-ac mad" and the like?

I haven't used any divx stuff in years.

Software / Any Free Bible Software?

http://www.crosswire.org/feeds/arm/ipk/zaurus/

crosswire has zaurus ipks and many, many Bible versions.  Also can get a dictionary, strongs greek and hebrew referece books -linked to KJV (didn't try the other versions), and more.

I like the search features - but if it doesn't retrieve one result (like you misspell King Nebuchaneezar), mine quits the program.  Just a little annoying.

Otherwise works great.  Just explore crosswire.org - I found great stuff there.

Software / Mplayer Movies - Audio Limited To 10 Minutes
« on: April 25, 2006, 11:50:50 pm »
Using Hentges rom 3.5.3 and mplayer - my audio drops out after 10 minutes.  Consitently 10 minutes.  I ripped some movies (that I own) to test out my z as a portable player when I get bored.  I encoded the movies as MPEGII video and MP3 audio  These play fine on my windows XP machine.  When I run them on the Z, the audio stops after 10 minutes.  It doesn't matter if I skip forward in the movie, it stops in the same place.  The video plays fine, the audio just drops out.

Here are some details - Sharp Zaurus 5000D (yes it plays videos!)

mplayer -nortc -noaspect - framedrop -quiet -quiet - cache 1024 -ac mad - vf mirror [filename]

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks in advance!
