I've been a little disappointed with pdaxrom's MPlayer playback capabilities. I downloaded the IceAge2 Divx5 (640x344) trailer from pocketmovies.net the other day. It played beautifully (and in full-screen) under Cacko ROM/Kino2, but pdaxrom's MPlayer completely choked on it, no matter what settings I used. I was stuck playing the nasty old 320x240 MPEG version.

So since then I've been looking for someone with a CXX00 Z to post optimal settings for both encoding AND playback.

I'll test these out on my C1000 and let you know how well they work.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Gpe Pim Apps

I've been using Xromer's port of the GPE PIM Apps for a few days -- and I must say they're awesome! They load very fast and work very well.

I also tried the KDE PIM Apps and although they were nice too, they took FOREVER to load.

The GPE PIM Apps are the best I've seen by far on the Z at this point. Keep up the good work Xromer!

P.S. I have one question -- some of the screens (such as the New Contact screen) are too big to fit on the page. Mostly because the 'Address' field is HUGE. Is there a way to make those fields smaller, or is there a screen resolution parameter I can add to my .desktop file to make it fit within the Z's screen size?

If I'm not mistaken, a proper feed directory contains a listing of all the packages along with short descriptions...

Hey community!

I just got a C1000 from Price Japan yesterday (AWESOME customer service by the way) and have already installed pdaxrom. I did some research (regarding the various roms) for a few weeks before deciding that pdaxrom would be best for me.

Sooooo, now I have it, and I have a few questions:

1. I really need a PIM application. Something simple is fine. All I want is to be able to store names, numbers, and addresses, and a simple "to do" list would be awesome too. I've tried installing kdepim from the feed, but it doesn't show-up in the launcher. Is there another dependency I'm missing, or is there a smaller, easier PIM application currently available?

2. How do you guys know what package is what in the feeds? They're just labeled by package names, with no descriptions. I can google most of them and get a description by finding the particular project's home page, but it would take me literally DAYS to look up every package. Is there a site that indexes what these packages do?

I'm 25, and I LOVED Amigas. I had an A500 and an A3000. I remember when those things blew away PCs. I recently looked at getting an A1200 just for the hell of it, but decided to get a C1000 instead
