User Request for Applications / Apple Iigs Emulator?
« on: April 14, 2006, 05:20:19 pm »
I have found an apple iigs emulator called xgs:

http://www.jurai.org/~funaho/emulators/XGS/xgs-0.50.tar.gz

The code is portable so shouldn't be difficult to compile for zaurus (e.g. to run with x/qt). I have tried but don't really have a clue what I'm doing.

Any takers?

X/Qt / Native Gcc Compiler For X/qt
« on: April 14, 2006, 01:01:49 pm »
I am trying to compile xgs, an apple iigs emulator. When I run the ./configure it gets as far as "checking whether byte ordering is bigendian..." and then quits, saying "cannot run test program while cross-compiling" This seems odd because I'm doing a native compile.

Please note I am new to compiling so forgive me if this sounds like a simple question.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Emulators, libc, and more

Is there any news on the kegs port? I've tried the current one which is good but there are issues with the mouse pointer.

Cxx0 General discussions / C750 No Sound
« on: April 11, 2006, 01:28:54 pm »
I recently bought a c750 on ebay from Japan. Trouble is, it doesn't have any sound and the seller is no longer registered (hmmm...)

Just wondering if there is any software fault that cause the problem or is my hardware the issue and is there any way I can check? Really annoying because it works great apart from that.

I have an sl-c750 but I understand newer models can use usb devices such as keyboards and mice. Is this correct? And if so, has anyone tried using zaurus basilisk with a real mouse?

I've tried it, but it doesn't make any difference, since the mouse is basically just another way to "tap" the screen.

Can you go into a little more detail about how to install and use Fbvnc?

Ok, so the mouse is a no-go. Otherwise I would have considered upgrading.

Basically, fbvnc is part of pocket workstation, a complete debian installation for zaurus, take a look at www.pocketworkstation.com.
Fbvnc handles the display and input, much like X/qt but with more features and, I think, better implementation. All instructions are on the site.

Software / Can Anyone Fix Basilisk Ii For Z?
« on: April 11, 2006, 11:45:38 am »
Hi, i just posted on another thread but what you can do is install debian basilisk under pocket workstation (using fbvnc not x/qt). This gives the option of using the address button on the keyboard to click instead of screen taps. Works perfectly for me.

Software / Problem Using Basilisk On C3100

I've just found a good workaround; it's more complicated but seems the best so far.

Install pocketworkstation but not with x/qt. Fbvnc provides much more input options than x/qt and has a mode where the address key can be used to click instead of screen taps. This has worked perfectly for me, much beter than using the fn key I couldn't get the hang of.

NB. under pocketworkstation you will need to install the debian basilisk package.

Like I said, this has worked great for me.

Sharp ROMs / Permission Denied

Does ./gnu-tar have the correct permissions?

If so, can you post the output so we can see what you're actually doing? The output of 'mount' may also be useful.

Thanks everyone. You'll have to forgive me, I'm new to linux and am still finding my way. Turns out my permissions are messed up. I've just learnt how to use chmod and now everything is fine.
Thanks again,
Anthony

Perhaps you're trying to extract to a read-only filesystem?

I really wish it were that simple. I'm using an ext2 formatted sd card mounted as rw, with write protect disabled.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Port Requests Here:
« on: April 09, 2006, 07:20:09 pm »
I have just got kegs up and running. Looking good but the apple pointer and the x pointer are in diferent places and x/qt doesn't seem to allow function keys (f8 needed to grab the mouse).

Also, I'm confused why this is slower than basilisk given the simpler architecture being emulated.

Any thoughts?

Sharp ROMs / Permission Denied

I am using cacko 1.23 on a zaurus sl-c750.
Whenever I try to ./ anything e.g. ./gnu-tar, I get "permission denied", regardless of su or not. However, it works if the current directory is vfat but not if it's ext2.
What is happening and what should I do?
