The battery arrived.  Fits perfectly, quick charge (it must have been charged on arrival -- I didnt' check).  I'll post another note after a week or so use.

Okay, it's been a few weeks and the battery is working famously.  I haven't figure out exactly what the functional time is, but it's streets ahead of where my old stock battery was.  The old battery was probably on its last legs, but still.

I'll see if I can get an idea using WIFI, full brightness etc. but the battery is certainly no worse than the stock one.

Has anyone had any experience with this seller on ebay
http://tinyurl.com/hwlat

My battery's starting to croak and an 1100 mAh one would be nice.

Thanks

Okay, I just ordered one, so I'll keep everyone posted.  This plus Shwdrgns' battery mod should keep me going.

Software / Pocketcellar On Z5500

I'm trying to get the wine list program, pocketcellar, to work, but it doesn't seem to want to save any of my entries regardless of where I elect to save the database.  Anyone have this program running successfully.  Or, if not, any suggestions for a winelist software that's available?

It seems that running as root may write the database after which you can run it no problem. Either that or manually adding a data directory.  Unfortunately I did both right away so I can't tell which worked.

Software / Kapi Runs From Command Line, Not Icon
« on: October 11, 2005, 07:56:48 pm »
Hi

Thanks again.  Rebooting the Zaurus after the line has been deleted has no effect.  Kapi still won't run from the icon...

Thanks for the thought.  Ko/pi has the same line and it runs fine from the icon.  I tried deleting the line anyway and kapi still doesn't run.

Software / Kapi Runs From Command Line, Not Icon

I've had this problem consistently with every version of kapi I've installed on my 5500 (Sharp 3.1 ROM).  I just installed 2.2.0 with the same problem, I can run it from the command line, but not from the icon.

Desktop entry is:
[Desktop Entry]
Comment=KAddressbook
Display=640x480/144dpi,480x640/144dpi
Exec=kapi
Icon= kdepim/kaddressbook/kaddressbook
Name=KA/Pi
Type=Application
CanFastLoad=1

When running from the cl, the following is shown after shutting down (the first two lines appear prio to kapi running):

QGList::locate: Index -1 out of range
QGList::locate: Index 1 out of range
ResourceFile:openfile /home/zaurus/kdepim/apps/kabc/std.vcf
Resource loaded: 'resource-name'
QGList::locate: Index 1 out of range
AddresseeWidget:saveSettings()
QComboBox::insertItem: (unnamed) Index 3 out of range
QComboBox::setCurrentItem: (unnamed) Index 2 out of range
ViewManager::startDrag() has to be changed!!
KA: Bye!

Any hints would be appreciated.

Cheers

Accessories / Whrere Can I Get A New Stylus?
« on: January 21, 2005, 01:22:16 pm »

Im using a Tugsten T stylus, its really nice, fit perfectly, except its too long. I had to cut mine (well i prefer it that way), Its kinda tricky to cut, you have to remove the plastc at end (very hard) and use damn good cutter, because the metal is not easy to cut. Else its really good.
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=63468\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

I bought a Belkin 3 replacement pack for the Tungsten T's for $10 CAD.  Similarly, they're too long, but I unscrewed the stylus tip then force threaded it onto the stylus from my Z.  Works fine so far...

Sharp ROMs / New versions of fdisk and e2fsprogs
« on: January 07, 2005, 12:27:37 pm »
Well, nuts....

This card has been working fine for over a year.  Mind you it's a SanDisk, so maybe this is just the inevitable happening.

I'll keep randomly poking it to see if I can come up with anything else.

I bought this through the software link at www.myzaurus.com about four months ago.
Both versions are available.

Sharp ROMs / New versions of fdisk and e2fsprogs
« on: January 06, 2005, 06:07:46 pm »
Hrmmm
Running Andy's series of commands, everything seemed to be going okay, until mkdosfs /dev/mmcda1 when I got the 'Attempting to create too large a file system error'.  Same error if I use mkfs.vfat.

Going back to fdisk immediately gave me an unable to open /dev/mmcda error until I popped the card out and back.

Doing Kopsis' dd command had no effect on the outcome. The error message of the partition table flag persists when starting fdisk.

Doing -p from the fdisk gives the following info:

Disk /dev/mccda: 255 MB, 255852544 bytes
16 heads, 32 sectors/tracks, 976 cylinders
Unites = cylinders of 512 * 512 262144 bytes

with no partitions showing (even after going through the above to make a partition 1)
So it looks like I'm failling to write the new partition information.

Any other tricks I can put this thing through?

Cheers

Hi Kopsis

I had actually done that from your previous post using

Code: [Select]
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/mmcda bs=512 count=20480
with no joy.  I don't have the offending card with me at work, but I'll play around with it a bit more when I get home.

I'll document the sequence of steps I've taken a little more clearly than I did in my preceding post.
