Zaurus - Void Linux support / Re: Void Linux

ATM I am trying out VoidZ with the sd-card in the C1000. Via ssh and screen. Not sure what I'll be going to use it for. Of course the kernel will support the c3000 better.
Before 2010 I was using the C1000 for everything possible as a mini laptop, eMail, radio, web surfing, ssh'ing, accessing serial devices... there was even a mini-usb-BT put inside the shell for Internet access via cellphone.

I recently have taken the c1000 out of the drawer where it had been sitting since 2010.

I am running now the alarmz rootfs of  Feb 11, 2018. Thanks for the effort to support these old systems.

there still was an issue with power. I managed now to switch the gpio used to control power into input mode. This allows shutting off power for the internal usb device on suspend and I now use the regular 5V. No interference between usb port 1 (internal BT) and extenal usb devices. See above link for details.

C1000/3x00 Hardware / Sl C1000 Akita --- No Backlight
« on: October 14, 2007, 10:48:06 am »
Hi
I managed to brick my akita while doing a hardware mod... Ok, after some time I found it would boot and I could even ssh into it and even later that the display showed everything. Only difficult to see without the BACKLIGHT.

I came upon this thread https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=1963 and found the fuse for the backlight and it was blown.

On the c1000 (also C3000, C3100) the fuse is beside the battery compartment and its value "1.25A"  is printed on the board.

Cxx0 Hardware / HELP! C700 does not display anything anymore

Hi Sebastien

ton travail m'a aidé beaucoup. J' ai un sl c1000 akita et j'ai réussi de trouver le fusible pour le backlight. (plus facile, même "1.25A" imprimé à coté du fusible".

your work helped me a lot. I have got an aktita sl c1000 and I managed to find the fuse. (There is even printed 1.25A on the board)

Hardware Mods / Stuffing Serial Bluetooth Module Inside C1k Casing

Hi there.

I yesterday fitted an internal USB bluetooth adapter into my Akita. Could not have been done without this forum and the work of AlbertR.

What maybe of interest: With Angstrom Distribution and kernel 2.6.22 there is no need for ANY modification of the system. You only need a userland utility to switch power off of the internal usb device when it is not needed.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Pdaxrom 1.1.0beta 4 And New Bootloader
« on: May 24, 2006, 08:57:54 pm »
Problem solved:
After I had gunzip'ped pdaXrom-1.1.0beta4-Kathrin-u-boot-akita-current.zip I found emergenc.img differed from the file Winzip had extracted.
BTW the green and orange leds both turned on when flashing via the "C" and "D" keys. The leds were lit not for 20s but only for about 10s.
The Z did not accept a  64 MB and 128 MB CF card, only a 1GB SD card.

Resetting: Taking the battery out and unplugging the power supply is one way. One can just push the reset button beside the battery compartment. It was meant for that.
I really appreciate to have a 2.6.16 kernel on this tiny machine. Still the emergency system only. But let's call it a day.
Many thanks to EVERYONE who contributes. I did spend a couple of bucks yesterday donating.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Pdaxrom 1.1.0beta 4 And New Bootloader

Hi,
I think I am going for pdaXrom with this SL-C1000.

I tried step
Quote
11) Green LED must light on for ~20 sec.
this seemed to work. It might have been less than 20s, however.

But I could not manage to boot the emergeny system. The screen would never turn on.
Quote
Bootup emergency system
1) Insert SD or CF card with pdaXrom
2) Press and hold ON button and plug power cable
3) Wait for 10 sec and leave ON button

I had to do a NAND restore to see the thing alive again.

Obviously I am missing some detail. Maybe some kind soul could point me the way.
