General Discussion / wireless lan stats

I have a netgear AP and a ambicom wl100c nic. I\'m using the standard Sharp ROM v1.32 in a SL-5600.

I get 100% strength and 98% -100% quality right next to AP. About 25 feet away (two rooms) I get 40% strength and 20% quality. Card very easy to setup (worked right out of box), Not very impressed with its ability to pickup APs.

Accessories / backup fails to Lexar SD 256
« on: February 23, 2004, 04:01:12 am »
Can not seem to run backup program successfully to Lexar SD card.

Fails at approx. 47% every time. Card was purchased in Dec and spent a little time in a digital camera.

Maybe formatting it to ext2.

Thoughts?

RichS

If you could give a more detailed discription of how you got around that
libstdc++-libc6.2-2.so.3 error and how to do the sym-link that would be great..

By any chance is OS detection working for you?

Software / nmap for 5600?
« on: February 21, 2004, 02:11:34 pm »
Ok, This is the error msg I get when I try to use OS detection feature from terminal:
OS scan requested but I cannot find nmap-os-fingerprints file. It should be in /home/guest/diller@sudancid.com/local/share/nmap, ~/+nmap/ or + QUITTING!

the + sign is very small, not sure what that means..

Currently I have nmap, nmap-os-fingerprints, nmap-protocols, nmap-rpc, nmap-services installed in /usr/bin.

Software / nmap for 5600?
« on: February 20, 2004, 09:53:19 am »
I downloaded the files tumnus suggested, ran chmod a+x /usr/bin/nmap and nmap is now up and running.

Thanks again tumnus.

EDIT: It seems OS detection is not functioning atm. I found a file zutilsnmap-extra.zip that has: nmap-protocols, nmap-os-fingerprints, nmap-rpc and nmap-services. I placed these files in /usr/bin, OS detection still not working. Will keep working on it.

« on: February 10, 2004, 02:43:09 pm »
The Socket 6004 is a very new card.   From what i have heard here people have been having good luck with the 6000 but no word on the 6004.

Im sure a lot of people would be interested in knowing if new card works with the Z. Let us know what happens...

I bought one about two weeks ago from Amazon for $299. According to the box it has the PXA 255.

Note: cat /proc/cpuinfo shows:  Intel Xscale-PXA255 rev 6 (5.1)
