Lighttpd is amazing - we use it for a huge website - it works like a charm and it much better than apache.

Sash and I actually discussed making all the preference and settings into .php webpages and commandline versions

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Located In Uk?
« on: March 28, 2007, 07:22:57 pm »
My girlfriend is currently doing a survey about in-store TV in UK and she is lacking responses in her survey so if your living in the UK could you please take the time to answer this survey?

Sorry for being off-topic but I was getting punished by my girlfriend because not enough people did participate in her survey - so if you know anyone living in the UK please also make them fill out the survey

Yes Daniel all your points are valid. Lets just enjoy that somebody is actually trying to improve the pdaXrom in both software and money effort. So it ends here and we might review later but at the moment there is all go from all the pdaXrom developers for your contiuned development and sales.

Btw. to everybody - its a long time since anybody donated anything

Great work based on my old crappy code - I still hate the fact that we made anything in python. One day we might get all the apps to be native c.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / New, Fast Pdaxrom Settings Tools
« on: September 13, 2006, 02:44:42 am »
Great work - i hope more people will realize that without these small fixes and settings tool pdaXrom isn't going to have a chance with newbies and the likes.

So everybody please test and give zumi feedback for his work.

We are still working on it.

Sash has got a real job in brazil but its luckly related and is spending all his free time on the project. The new website is a joint effort.

Im looking into it - but we are trying to get better and faster hardware for development and hosting - maybe my company will sponsor it. Then the current one can return as media server for my private usage

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Important Update...
« on: June 21, 2006, 04:36:24 pm »
I, for one, would love to see a STOP at Beta3 with a feature FREEZE (including kernel) and have all the bugs fixed, and all of the various packages laying around in "unstable" and other people's feeds and such compiled to work "out of the box" on Beta3 in one feed. Release it as something equivalent to "pdaXrom Kernel 2.4 FINAL."

Then we could have a new RELEASE version, before we start down the long road toward a working 2.6 version.

It may be best, though, if WE do that, and just let Sashz go on with Beta4+.

If you saw what sash wrote it that the new beta is 2.6 - nobody said the beta3 would be stopped. Yes the names are bad but i haven't had the time to keep track and help out.

Zumi: Right on the money - we never wanted to keep it closed but take these things into consideration:

1. Sash was working in Novosibirsk - he could max upload at 1-2 Kb/s - and it was very costly to do so.

2. All the compilation and development was/is done 100% by him - and most of the people who wanted to help often just turned out to be people wanting help with getting their hardware/sofware working.

3. He is a fulltime geek and spent all his time on his baby, pdaXrom, and he wanted to share but often to find that the stuff he shared was included in other people work without any credit. True that we also sometimes forgot to credit people but we tried to always keep it updated.

And now i need to go and spend time on somethings that actually give me money to pay the bills, which again keeps paying Sashs bill, and not spend countless hours on discussing with people a small group of people who always knows better. :-)

Busy, busy! - The sources are available and if anyone fixes anything i will personally make sure the fixes get implemented into the build - we are moving to SVN asap but until then.

Btw. the biggest problems arent in the kernel stuff which Sash is focused on - it so many "experts" are disliking the pdaXrom i can't believe why they just spend like 20-30 minutes looking at the preferences programs which are all written in python and make them better and maybe even in C. All the current python stuff were just quick workarounds until we had the time to code them in C - acutally Zumi is working on that but im sure he could use some help.

Its just a matter of looking how the python scripts does stuff and then make that prettier and into C native apps.
