Sharp PC-Z1 NetWalker / Sharp Netwalker Pc-z1, Who Has One?

I looked at it, but decided to wait for the UMID M2. I expect that the ubuntu arm repository will have quite a lot to offer.

Ubuntu / Help Installing Zubuntu 2.0 On Sl-c3200

I was able to get Zubuntu running from my SD card. Two problems so far:

1) A lot of key bouncing, meaning duplicate characters. Can I adjust this?
2) I can't get a wlan card to work with dhcp. I am trying my Linksys 802.11b cf card (WCF12) working. Flashing lights, but no networks in wicd and no IP address. I tried editing /etc/network/interfaces and adding my gateway and essid. I have fooled with ifconfig and iwconfig, but no joy. I tried setting wicd to use wlan0 and wifi0 both of which show via dmesg. I also found the post about changing permissions on dhcp in /etc/password to '0'. Cortez said it was verified as working so I must be missing something.

Any ideas.

Bump.

Sharp PC-Z1 NetWalker / Zaurus Is Dead .... Long Living Zaurus Aka Pc-z1

At $568 I don't think they'll sell many. Not when netbooks are going for $199. I don't think a group buy will get it within reason. The $480 listed in the press release is ridiculous. I wish Sharp could pull their heads out of their arses. I won't repeat what others have already said. Suffice it to say this is disappointing.

Max,

I have had mine a few days now. Pocketsize isn't much good if you can't do what you need to do. I now have a useful device rather than one I HAD to constantly tinker with and never got quite right. If you must put it in your pocket, this isn't it. Good luck.

You mean you have one of these fujitsus? Are they for sale? More info, please.

No, I think there has been some editing of the original post. When I responded to it, it was referencing the Libretto U100. Otherwise, I really need to have a talk with my crack dealer because he is giving me some bad stuff. I imagine that the model listed now costs about as much as my car. Didn't mean to get Meanie upset, so I will just shut up now.

What am I missing? At the link you provided, which seems to be the company that makes it, it says that it has a 12" non-touch-screen. I assume that the linux devices information is for a different computer.

very, very, very doable.  Lets hope they are smart enough to throw in a USB, cf and sd slots for bluetooth or wifi option or even integrated stuff.

Absolutely, and a pony, they should include a pony for $199   Just kidding. Sounds neat and might work for my parents as a traveling email/web device.

With the use of virtulization software, like Parellels Desktop on Intel Macs, one can run most of 32-bit OSes as he wishes.

Agreed, but to be fair, WSJ needs to show the costs for these "similar" systems. The Mc-Hardware is not cheap. Parallels is not cheap, etc. May still be the right answer, but the advice without pricing is a bit disingenuous.

If you are as tired of the 9/11 hoaxsters as I am, check out:

http://stoprosie.com   and

http://fallingpanda.blogspot.com/

Enough already. As stated previous, the tin foil hat silliness of the "science" that must be believed in order to deny 9/11 is more than a stretch. The inclusion of that statement significantly diminishes some other worthwhile messages. In general, web petitions are a was of time. When significant numbers of people stop buying the products of advertisers, that works. If you don't believe me, when you order your egg Mcmuffin this morning, ask Don Imus. Cheers.

Unlike OESF, the attachments work great with Firefox. Enjoy.
