C1000/3x00 General discussions / Vnc Viewer Support For Sl-c3000?

So which version did you find that works well on the C3000? I'm getting ready to do the same thing.

3. Wheres the best place to find compilers, network tools and the like? I'm hoping to find at least a C/C++ compiler , hopefully perl , not essential but java would be useful and any serious networking tools would be useful as well.

This is one of the most useful sites I've found for adding software. It doesn't necessarily have links to all the sites, but lists the versions that work and the nit picky details to avoid running of disk space on /dev/hda1, etc.

C1000/3x00 General discussions / Snes9x/c1000... Options?

I'm doing my best to get Snes9x to play properly with OpenZaurus 3.5.3 on my C1000.  I get the distinct feeling that it works, and I just don't know the switches to use.  Experimenting, I've found the following:

Might want to look at this topic: [a href=\"https://www.oesf.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=14102]https://www.oesf.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=14102[/url]

The name is "Snes For Your Zaurus in One Package available" in this same forum and Crecho did all the work on a C1000.

hehe..

you never verified if cacko rom uses keyhelper or if it has its own defining keys by maslovsky.  This information can help the next cacko user who decidedes to use this ziped package.

Anyway, if you didnt have the keyhelper (which helps in the snes emulation indirectly), would cacko rom need it?  I am still curious to know if emulation would still work or not providing excellent framerate during gameplay.

Guess that's 'cause I don't know how I'd  verify that. I just installed Cacko recently as an experiment and have no documentation on it or any way to compare it to the "old" Sharp environment since this is my first and only Z.

keymapper?

can you send me the file?

anyway, i am not sure how cacko works on redifining the keys or remaping them.  ...
post if it works cuz im curious

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.  I left your keyhelper.xml on my C3000 and added these lines to swap "Comma" and "Slash":

<define key="Comma">
           <map key="Slash"/>
           <map_modifier Shift="On"/>
           <map_unicode char="/"/>
       </define>
       <define key="Slash">

           <map key="Comma"/>
           <map_modifier Shift="Off"/>
       </define>

Then I reloaded the keymapper with
$ khctl reload

Now I can use my "Slash" character again without having to Shift. Yeah!!

I just installed the files today. I'm using Cacko and it's working great. Thanks!!

Anyhow, the only thing I want to mention is that Cacko had remapped the keys quite conveniently. The nicest mapping was that the "comma ," key did a "slash /" . (Usually you have to shift to get "slash /" of course).  This mapping disappeared after I installed the .ipk's.

Chris,

Thanks for illuminating. Since I don't speak Japanese, it's been a bit of an adventure finding out what the "true" capabilities of my marvelous new device actually are!

C1000/3x00 Hardware / 40gb Pd7x Portable Drive
« on: March 21, 2005, 02:53:21 pm »
I guess one of things I'm trying to figure out is USB compatability. From the specs it looks like this device may only do USB 2 and I've gotten the impression that the USB port on the SL-C3000 is USB 1.1.

I found a intriguing device. It's a 40GB PD7X drive powered by 4 AA batteries for less than $200. It also has an 8-in-1 card reader than can handle CF type I, CF type II, SD cards plus 5 other formats.  Here's the nasty long link with the best price (limited time only, of course).

Here's another link to the same devices (look at bottom of page and select items marked as 7200 RPM Compact Drives (20GB, 40GB, 60GB, and 80GB):

http://www.mydigitaldiscount.com/s.nl?sc=2&search=40gb

Some professional photographers gave feedback saying build quality could be better, but functionally it works great.

I was wondering if any Z users had experience with one of these. It would overcome the usb-power issues for spinning up since it is self-powered. Also, would movies be able to play "live" from this device or would there be speed issues?

Well, I'm getting a few things going on my Z. I'm synchronizing files to a linux laptop using Unison. Discovered a bad wireless card but MicroCenter came to the rescue and have been using wireless in 3 cities without a glitch now. Downloaded apache and have my own little web server running. Decided to use KA/Pi and KO/Pi for Pim tools instead of the built-ins. So far, so good!

On the "to do list":
#1: My husband wants me to load some Nintendo games so I started working on that tonight,but got stuck.

Anyhow, I love my new toy, but it's been an adventure locating software that will work on the C3000.

I'm also in the U.S. and bought a Zaurus from Dynamism. This is the same adapter they sent me, calling it a "Universal Adapter."  I've been using it for several weeks now with no problem, but I cannot speak as to its electrical characteristics.

C1000/3x00 General discussions / Web Server For Sl-c3000
« on: February 22, 2005, 12:35:08 pm »
I want to have a web server running on my SL-C3000 (for simple web page design with XHTML, CSS, & perl or php ...nothing fancy). I looked at the Zaurus index and it listed a few web servers, but nothing specific to the SL-C3000. There were 5 listed, but I tried to contact a couple of them and they seem to be abandoned or last updated in 2002. The servers were thttpd, Servertech, TJWS, Boa, and Tiny Java Web Server.

Anybody have a working Web Server? I am using the SHARP ROM.

C1000/3x00 General discussions / C3000 As An Usb Host?
« on: February 14, 2005, 08:24:29 pm »
Yep, the iRiver cable is a nice tiny cable to do what you want.  If you want to connect to devices further away, this one works great:
http://www.goldxproducts.com/cable/qus.htm

Don't know where you are located, but Staples office supply store carries this GoldX QuickConnect 6 foot cable that has switchable ends for any type of USB connection you need.  The key to all this is  connecting the Zaurus with a MINI A plug that has 5 PINS vs. the MINI B plug (same size) that only has 4 pins and then having a FEMALE STANDARD USB that will allow you to connect to normal peripherals like usb drives, etc.

C1000/3x00 Hardware / Compilation Of Wifi Cf For 3k

I've got a D-Link Air 660W and am getting very random behaviors.  I have never been able to maintain a connection, but I've managed to activate it for a few seconds a few times.

#cardctl ident --> Identifies it properly

#iwconfig --> can often see it and specify the access point fine

Sometimes I even get "Network Connection Established".  When I actually try to "do" anything (browse, ping, etc.) I almost immediately get "TCP Write Error" and then I'm hosed. The card loses its connection to the access point and won't re-establish.

Any idea of what I need to change?

Another important note...quite often when this card is installed, the screen starts fading and in a matter of seconds turns completely white.  It's completely hung...not even the power button works.  If I pull the card out and in a few times, it'll usually clear, but once I had to do a reset.
