Zaurus - pdaXrom / Pdaxii13v2

Thanks Roberto and Jon_J!  It appears that I still have some (front end) admin rights on tyrannozaurus so I edited the Start Here page and added this and Meanie's unstable e17 feed to the pdaXrom feed lists.  If you know of any more feeds that are in the same state as these let me know and I will add them to the Start Here page.  Thanks again.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Pdaxrom Contrib?

Hi,

I like the idea of a new feed system, because I have now entered all feeds which could hold compatible packages into my ipkg.conf, and many packages are listed about four times under "Available".

A new feed system could avoid duplicate packages in the feeds.

Maybe it even makes sense to write a new graphical package manager as a replacement for qpkg, which is able to display packages in groups, choose the destination more conveniently (e.g. displaying the destination NAME instead of the mount point) etc.etc.

For example I have SL-6000 and the more recent installable version is 1.1Beta1 so at this moment I don't know which contrib feed are working for me. So Is good a new system of organize feeds for contrib.

Si many times I'm thinking to modify gipkg becouse I need to search a package not only to have the list, and is good to know every package from which feed come.

Didn't know a new version was up last october. Anyboy tried this yet or everybody lost interest in the fast kernel?

- definitely fixed remaining keyboard issues with a new compatibility
  mode
- boot in only 1 minute : removed DMESG.
  Most of the remaining delay is due to jffs2 checks
- added other axim keyboard fixes

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Sl-6000 - Usbdconfig

Now I have configured the wifi for my wireless network at home, with WEP, all working good....
After I have installed Kismet, but for the moment I have problem for the suiduser...

BUT after my Zaurus SL600-L is not able to show my SD/CF card, even if lsusb on the PC show up the Zaurus connected on the usb port...

Only for be clear :when I'm talking about the SD/CF I'm talking when they are inside the Zaurus...
So I connect the Zaurus to my PC (GNU/Linux) and I see or the CF or the SD  (in relation to the usbconfig settings)
Without any knowledge of module storage_fd on Zaurus, I can only descript my experience, that is...

If my SD/CF with ext2 filesystem have directoris with permissions for all the user I can see on my PC connected via USB with the Zaurus... With other type of permissions I can't see...

I'm a little confused about what you say here - I can't think of any reason why the card permissions should stop the card from being used as a mass-storage device, mainly because the card is not mounted when it's used as a mass-storage device (so changes to the mount points make no sense). In addition you have to be root to insmod the storage_fd module and therefore it doesn't really matter what any permissions are.

On the machine on which you're mounting the card (via usb) I can see that you might have issues accessing files if they are owned by root (for example), however the mounting is also performed by root so again I fail to see a problem.

Perhaps I've mis-understood what you're trying to do.

Dear Roberto,
The problem is the permission on your CF or SD card.
In fact I have formatted the CF and SD in ext2 fs and with the write permission only for the root or for user different UID 1000( for example) so the usbdconfig was not able to share the directory via USB.

So if you want to share the CF or SD via usb you must put the permission wr to all user and put the root user and group.

chmod a+wr -R /mnt/cf
chmod a+wr -R /mnt/card

for the user:
chown -R root:root /mnt/cf
chown -R root:root /mnt/card

If someone have a successful story about doing working the usbdconfig with SL6000 for use the Zaurus like a usb-pen, please post in this topic.
And please make a description what you have done for make woring this feature.

6000 - Tosa / Video Acceleration Fund

The rc11 work very good, I must only underline this problem:

With rc10 I have used the zaurs like big usb pen, but from rc11 doesn't working.
With SL6000-L ( rc10 , install rc11,  reinstall sharp rom, install rc11, installed new hotplug from sashz)  
1) updating usbdconfig
2) ipkg install usbconfig,
3) ipkg remove usbconfig - ipkg install usbdconfig

- until steps 2 I can only see with lsusb ( on my mdk 10.2 and ubuntu 5.10 preview) the SL6000 device without see the usb storage device
- after step 3 i don't see nothing even with lsusb

Please inform us it there is any evolution about this bug and if you need more help on testing.

I have the same problem, even after install usbdconfig from feed (SL6000-L)
I have done ipkg install usbdconfig , and the feed is correct .

Another question:
The Gimp that you have updated is even for SL6000 ?

impossible - too much changes in the libraries, applications, etc

So we need to reflash the original sharp rom and then the pdaxrom?

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Tutorial: Pdaxrom On Sl-6000

The problem 3 is solved:
The cf card had 2 partitions one fat16 /dev/hda1 and another /dev/hda2 ext2, now I have formatted all with ext2 so I have /dev/hda1 with ext2 and now I can install in this CF!

I have installed pdaxrom on SL 6000L before read thi s tutorial, so without Guythiem ROM.

All working fine expect this:

I have copy the suggested feed of 1.1RC10 in my SD card ( FAT16 formatted ) i have set in the package manager the feed.

1) The first error is "Unsupported Scheme" when try to download the Packages file men is trying to make the update.

So I have tried to install the packages only selecting the single ipkg and installing in the / root partition was ok ( resolving my-self the dipedance ).

2) Try to installing the packages in the SD card ( fat16 formatted) the error ws can not change permissions ( that' normal for a FAT partition )

6000 - Tosa / Who has a 6000?

I have buy SL6000L near Cristmas, from ebay , I live in Italy. I buy for arund 350 euros with shipping and taxes.
I'm a linux lover and this is the main reason why I buy zaurus.
I'm waiting pdaxrom for SL6000... and the right video acelleration for play mpeg...
