Gemini PDA - Android / Which Office App to use?
« on: July 27, 2018, 09:51:53 am »
As a company we a pretty much "all in" with office 365 now.

As a result I have set up my device with outlook, word/excel etc, one drive, one note and Teams.

The only negative is the lack of a rear camera to act as a scanner, so I use my phone for that.

All works seamlessly and great in landscape.

I cannot establish if the problem came after the Microsoft update or after the FOTA update, and they were within few days, so I'm searching all the way to solve...

I have just checked and I have the most up to date Office software.

Build number Gemini 7.1 Planet 10052018 v2

I have the rooted Android X27 firmware but have not updated to the latest firmware.

I use the standard launcher.

My company uses office 365 so I have all the office products installed and all work fine.

I hope this is helpful.

Gemini PDA - Android / Android Screen Icons

OK, I have been playing with mine for a couple of hours and would like to delete some icons from the home screen and move others.  On my previous Androids, a long press on the offending icon gave me the option to drag to the top of the screen and drop on on "delete" - icon gone but app still there if required....

I am sure there is a very simple answer - appreciated if someone could advise me and put me out of my misery.......

When you do a long press you will see a small Trash Can on the left of the screen.
Drag the icon to there.

Great tip on the indiegogo platform from a user - has seriously improved the device for me as I can now have much more information displayed on the screen.

Protip: If you feel that the screen elements are too big, even with the screen size set to small, try the following:

Go to About Android in Settings. Tap 7 times on the build version number. This activates Developer mode. Go back to the main settings page and select Developer options. Set the Minimum with option to a high number. I find 530 dp to be best suited for me

Gemini PDA - General Discussion / @ key produces " instead

My Gemini displays GERMAN; not English.

This American backer ordered a US keyboard.

What now given the must-translate-as-I-go set-up process.

Disappointed and not surprised.

Restart the setup process and select the correct language. I think it's the first or second question asked.

Gemini PDA - General Discussion / Update #56 on Indiegogo

If you are buying through Indiegogo then you are a backer and the device is a perk, that's the deal you have entered into. Indiegogo is not a retail site.
It's not a retail purchase as it would be from the Gemini store web page or from Clove.

That's what I would have thought as well.
You get it a bit cheaper but without the consumer protections as a payoff.
