Gemini PDA - Android / Degoogling Gemini PDA

Thank you for sharing. Is your device OS still stable after debloating it? I found that uninstalling major Google Apps & services had "Goodroid" go wrong here. Culprits were Google Maps and Chrome if I remember correctly.

3. Install Titanium Backup (preferably Pro), make sure it works as expected
4. Install apps you want/need (at least F-Droid, some browser and some SMS app, others can be installed later)
5. Use Titanium Backup to remove apps that are not included in the picture below. Apps highlighted in blue are frozen, you better freeze them too.

What about not installing Titanium (Pro) and using Magisk module Terminal debloater instead?

Gemini PDA - Linux / Connman not saving passphrases

Same issue with Connman forgetting my WiFi network and passphrase everytime I reboot.
Have a Gemini WiFi flashed with Flashtool and images from 2019-06. Gemian is up-to-date, no other sources added than Debian backports (problem pre-existed).

I happened to have tried with the other cable. It worked out well enough I write this from Firefox on Debian from the Gemini. That the (brand new) cable could be borken didn't even cross my mind, even tho it seems it shouldhave!o}

@TheKit yeah more times than I'd like to confess. And building FlashTool from source didn't work. Does vanilla MediaTek's SP FlashTool allows to do a multi boot with the provided 'modules'?

Hi I try to reinstall a double boot on my Gemini Wifi only.
On up-to-date Arch64 with the appropriate udev rules (checked out and worked fine when I installed the firmwares last year) I run FlashToolLinux, plug the gemini and reboot it:

A couple hours later FlashTOol is still standing perfectly iddle as far as I can see.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        
Also a suggestion: FlashTool should print whether it sees the Gemini as needed *or not*, for the user to know that (and avoid countless try-and-fails)

Before I go out and buy one, does anybody know if the Gemini running DebianTP2 will work with the new PNY 512GB SDXC card? Can I format and mount the card as ext4 under DebianTP2?

Linux should recognize any genuine sd[xc] card. And will create/format, (un)mount, read and write Ext4 file system on any card it recognize. It did for my SanDisk 64GB SDXC as it does for all the other cards reported around here on OESF.
The main issue is for those who'd like to use it from Android, which is a real pain in somewhere when it comes to anything but FAT32.

So my inability to get a right mouse-click to work isn't just my own misconfiguration, it doesn't work for anyone (except for the alternative driver in another thread which uses the touchscreen as a trackpad)?

If anyone knows how to get a right click on the touchscreen, I'd love to hear about solutions! I tried using evdev instead of libinput, but that didn't help (maybe expectedly considering libinput is more modern).

The F1-F12 keys would also be useful to get to. Somewhere I read that you should be able to get them with Fn+Shift+1-12, maybe give that a try. It might work in the native Linux, does not in a chroot running via Android, but maybe that is to be expected. (I decided yesterday to try a chrooted Linux for the time being, as I need newer packages than those provided in stretch and using testing or even stretch-backports seems to break the ability to boot into the native linux.)

Using testing or even stretch-backports breaks the ability to boot into the native linux: I can confirm this. I'll try to chroot into it and find out (via logs) then downgrade the culprit package(s). Untill then I can't help testing mouse/keystroke (remapping) tools :/

Good point, my objection is really to any 'documentation' that is fixed, not in a wiki form,[and has no] 'Hazard warning' (...) indicating that it is unlikely to age gracefully.

Mind to create a thread @Adam? I find this well fitted  and so important for the device in the long run.

I feel bad to say this here but my Debian TP2 partition #3 is back to the point you were on this thread 1st post, after a week (and a full upgrade
with debian backports added to the source list). Hope I can solve this!

Good question. It seems to me thqt Open Camera does a betterjob to focus (clic on screen) than Google's app. Here's a pic I just shot in med resolution (focus on the area where car is):

Both the old Samsung tablet (Mini 3 or something like that) and smartphone (GT-S7390G) take photo as blurry and with much less light contrast than those. All what you say above is plain true, though. But it shouldn't be a terrible surprise considering such a small team had to prioritize things on their crowdfunding project.

People have uploaded pictures taken from a usb-c camera module connected to the Gemini and these are *pictures* I've seen them on this forum I believe.

@shuntcap thanks for the custom linux kernel instructions! will come handy in this location.

Photo taken with Sailfish camera at 4:3 (2560x1920). It isn't quite as bad as the android camera I believe.

Macro images and images of close objects are not too bad, unless you're under low light conditions where it refuses to focus at any ISO over 400 (for me at least).  But anything else, particularly scenery, is stunningly bad.
