C1000/3x00 Hardware / Problem With My C3000's Lcd
« on: October 31, 2005, 03:38:25 am »
Thanks for your reply. I tried to open it again. When I looked at the ribbion cable next to the microdrive, it seemed to be connected tightly. I still tried to push the two tabs up and pushed the cable back in. Then I pushed the two tabs back to secure the cable. But this time things got worse. The LCD would turn the backlight on when I rotated it by 180 degrees and push it back to the keyboard. I thought the cable played an important part, but I didn't know how to check. Are there any figures for me to reference?

C1000/3x00 Hardware / Problem With My C3000's Lcd

I've got a second-hand c3000 two weeks ago. The inside microdrive was replaced by a Sandisk Ultra II CF(2gb). So the warranty was void. When I got this device, its LCD had minor problems. It I opened the LCD and pushed it to the end (180 degrees to the keyboard), its backlight would cease. The backlight would come back if I pushed it toward the keyboard to a positon about 90 degrees. I thought it was not a problem. But recently, the situation became worse and worse. If I open the lcd screen, the backlight would come up as usual. However, the backlight would cease if the degree between lcd and keyboard was larger than 60 degrees. I suspected that something was wrong when the internal microdrive was replaced. I am no expert in this and have no clues at all. Hope someone could give me some suggestions.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Rc 10 On C3000 With Dual Boot
« on: October 20, 2005, 03:21:36 am »
I've followed all the instructions above to install the PDAXROM. The only difference was that I could only get the root-akita-rc4 image. But I've got different results.
1. After rebooting, I would only see a single line instead of a menu. However, selecting 1 or 2  would correctly enter Qtopia or PDAXROM.

2. when the login prompt appeared, I typed root to login. Then I typed the "source" instruction as the above mentioned. Then I typed "startx" and a calibration screen appeared, but it was rotated(not knowing if this was normal)

3. Each time I typed "startx" since then, it simplyed jumped back to the "#" prompt.

Could someone please give me some suggestions?

General Discussion / Problems With Editing Rc.rofilesys

Thanks for your quick reply. In fact, I've remounted root as rw.
I've seen three kinds of instructions:
      1. mount -o remount and rw /
-> Error "mounting and on /rw failed: No such file or directory
      2. mount -o remount,rw /dev/root
           -> Error "can't find /dev/root in /etc/fstab
      3. mount -o remount,rw /
This one succeeded, but I was greeted with the above problem.

Oh, I forgot to say that internal MD of my second-handed c3k had been replaced
by a 2GB Sandisk Ultra II CF card. Don't know if that matters.

I was changing the format of /hdd3 to ext3. When I try to edit /root/etc/rc.d/rc.rofilesys, I just could not save it.
An error message "no space left on device" occurred. I could only save it temporarily on /mnt/card. Whenever I used "rm" or "mv", I always got the same error message. What could I do to complete the last step for formating /hdd3 as ext3?  Thanks!!

Accessories / Appears 2b New High Capacity Battery

If this battry is manufactured by Mugen, I'm highly interested in it. I used to have a Toshiba E800 with battery made by Mugen and I'm quite satisfied with its quality.
