6000 - Tosa / New 6000 Owner - Opie - Screen Resolution?

We always suggest to remove ~/Settings/ before running OPIE for first time. But who read ReleaseNotes....

read the releasenotes.  you're right, i didn't remove ~/Settings/ before running OPIE for the first time.  does it solve my problem?  if so, i will NAND flash back and re-install everything to try it.  what i'm lead to believe, however, from all of the responses, is that the resolution is just as it is and OPIE doesn't support that and it will look like this no matter what...

thx for all the other responses.  you guys didn't misunderstand my original post.  i was just shocked that i had 4 backgrounds tiled on the higher resolution screen and that everything is miniscule.  changing the font size should make everything more usable.

thanks again...

6000 - Tosa / New 6000 Owner - Opie - Screen Resolution?

wow, so there really is no way to get OZ running w/proper graphics on the 6000?  i tried both GPE and Opie and both are this way.  i find it slightly hard to believe that everyone is squinting at tiny icons on their OZ 6000s!  any other suggestions guys?  thx for all the reponses!

6000 - Tosa / New 6000 Owner - Opie - Screen Resolution?
« on: January 15, 2006, 04:36:57 am »
so i just acquired my first Sharp PDA (SL6000L) from a fellow forum member (thanks Srono!) and have been tinkering with it between projects at work.  i flashed OpenZaurus 3.5.3 w/Opie and have been updating packages, etc to use Kismet, Ettercap, etc etc.  one issue that i still haven't figured out: the screen resolution!  i literally spent hours searching and browsing these forums looking for the simple, stupid mistake i'm making here but i STILL haven't found it.  so, sorry to all the veterans here, but i need to ask a very basic question:

how do i change the resolution/appearance settings for Opie so that it will display properly on my 6000?  right now, i've got FOUR Opie backgrounds on my 6000 and, even with better-than-perfect vision in both eyes, can barely read a thing without getting THIS close to the zaurus.  makes working on the thing a huge pain.  i already figured out thanks to the forums that i can click and hold an app to run it "zoomed," but the OS in VGA 640x480 mode is unbearable.  can someone please help me out here?

thanks for any info!

I'm not sure what's a better route though I seem to remember more people having success with ebay.  I think the other factor you have to consider is that it is just after christmas and many people have bought their Zs if they were in the market for one.

according to eBay completed item search, more and more 6000s are going for ~$350 range.  not lowballing you here, but if you want to budge on the price, let me know and we can deal =]

For Sale / Wanted / Wtb: Good Condition 6000l

hi folks,

new member here in search of a nice 6000L.  been avoiding the scams on eBay while attempting to bid for one that i want, but i am trying to avoid a "package" with all sorts of things like SD/CF cards that i already have and don't need.

the more recent 6000L auctions have been ending in the low-mid (and some high) $300s.  this may be unreasonable here, but that's the price bracket i'm looking at.  ideally i'd like to purchase 2 of them (1 as a gift to another software engineering buddy) but that seems like a tall order at this point, so i'd be thrilled with just 1 at a reasonably competitive price.

any takers?  i will pay the 3% paypal fee if need be since that is the only way i am willing to pay for items unless you are local to La Jolla, California and i can meet you to pay in cash.

email, PM or replying to this thread all work.  thanks!
