Zaurus - pdaXrom / Problem With The New Wifi-radar (1.9.8)
« on: May 16, 2007, 01:45:38 am »
I installed the new wifi-radar (1.9.8) today, and when I run it, it gave me this error message.

Code: [Select]
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/usr/local/bin/wifi-radar", line 26, in ?
import time, os, signal, sys, re. ConfigParsar, threading, socket
ImportError: No module named threading

And I tried to remove the threading in that line.. of course it didn't work

This happens on a Zauri C1000 with PdaXii13.. before this version the wifi-radar works fine..

Is it me or is it a bug?

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Xpdf Font Missing -- Pdaxii13 With Chinese Font
« on: March 08, 2007, 01:44:16 pm »
Just tried the pdaXii13 on my C1000, it works great!
However, after I tried to add chinese font in the system, XPDF complains he can not find the fonts.

====These are what I have done====
linked my chinese font to font directory
executed fc-cache -f -v to recreate the font cache
export LC_ALL=zh_TW
export LANG=zh_TW
==========================

====the error code reads as follows===
warning: Cannont convert string "-*-helvetica-medium-r-normal--12-*-*-*-*-*-iso8859-1" to type FontStruct
warning: Cannont convert string "-*-courier-medium-r-normal--12-*-*-*-*-*-iso8859-1" to type FontStruct
warning: Cannont convert string "-*-times-bold-i-normal--20-*-*-*-*-*-iso8859-1" to type FontStruct
warning: Cannont convert string "-*-times-medium-r-normal--16-*-*-*-*-*-iso8859-1" to type FontStruct
===========================

Any idea how to restore the fonts in XPDF?
what should I do?

I think the SDL libs that come with the emulator allow for that. Are you using those?

got it... I missed this part

Thanks!!

Zaurus - pdaXrom / How Do I Rotate Screen After Exit X?
« on: February 06, 2007, 03:05:00 pm »
Recently I am in love with the psx4zaurus..
But when I execute it outside X, it gives me a screen in portrait mode with flashy video (looks like interlace is not working correctly)

Any hint on how to get it in landscape mode outside X?

« on: October 31, 2006, 01:24:45 am »
I had made change to the sdcontrol file, to add swapon after insert the sd card and swapoff before ejecting the sd card... but it seems not working at the time I try.

What actually happens during suspend? I am not very familiar with linux but if I know what file and procedures are related to suspend, it might narrow down the things to check..

----
another wierd syndrome.. this doesn't happen every time, but sometimes when I eject the sd card, I get kicked out of system. Not only out out X11 but also logout.

I have listed the packages I have on SD card.. not sure if that helps or not.

aspell
aspell-dict-en
bzip2
gaim
gconf
gftp
gimp
gnome-keyring
gnome-mine-data
gnome-vgs
gnumeric
goffice
gthumb
kismet
lesstif
libao
libbonobo
libbonobo-locale-az
libonoboui
libexif
libgcrypt
libgnome
libgnomeui
libgpg-error
libgphoto2
libgsf
librsvg
ligtasn1
libtiff
libusb
libwnck
links-g
mb-applet-tasks
nedit
opencdk
orbit2
putty
putty-tools
rdesktop
readline
samba-client
samba-codepage-950
samba-common
samba-mount
x11vnc

Yes, the list is kind of long...
If I cannot find out why I might have just reinstall.. which is kind of hassle..

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Sd Card Self-umount After Each Suspend
« on: October 30, 2006, 05:37:10 pm »
I had been using my C1000 with PdaXrom Beta3 for about two month, and about one week ago I find this problem.

After each suspend, the SD card will be umounted. But it is not a clean umount, the system still thinks the SD card is mounted so I can not just mount it on. And when trying to umount, it gives me messages saying device busy. The only way to get around this is to use the MB applet to eject and reinsert the card, or sometimes I have to exit X, eject the card and insert it again to make sure it is mounted.

This is getting more and more annoy. Not only the files and programs stored on card become inaccesible before trying to remount the card. If I turn on the swap file on the card and suspend, the next poweron will hang the system and force me to restart.

The SD card is divided into 2 partition: a ext2 dev/mmcda2 on /mnt/card and fat-16 dev/mmcda1 on /mnt/card-fat16. And is a lexar 1G sd card.

If more information is needed, please let me know. Any advise is apperciated.

you could had also just uninstalled freetype from the qinstaller gui found under settings tab on the qt desktop before running pdaxqtrom-base-setup
as for scim, are there any error messages in the terminal? maybe you need to assign a different key sequence to activate the scim input panel. ctrl or alt + space usually activates it. also make sure the file monolingual does not exist because that disables the scim input module.
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=128917\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]
opps.. there is a monolingual file.. And the SCIM works now.
Thank you Meanie, this is a excellent package for newbies.

Thanks for shedding the light

Got GIMP working.. the freetype problem is solved after the below command
Code: [Select]
su
cd /opt/Qtpalmtop/lib/
ln -sf libfreetype.so.6.3.8 libfreetype.so
ln -sf libfreetype.so.6.3.8 libfreetype.so.6

After this the freetype lib is redirected to the correct version, and GIMP runs.
Thanks again, Meanie, this package really rocks.
If there are any info about how to get SCIM input forgien character correctly, that will be even better^^

How do you uninstall the freetype?
Or.. what did you do to make it work?

Found some scripts in the other thread, and after these scripts abiword starts.
And so do some other programs such as GAIM, SCIM config and Rox is also working fine. Hurray!
Stardict launched, however no Dict installed. That should not be a problem^^

run this code then re-run install script
Code: [Select]
rm /opt/QtPalmtop/libpng*
rm /etc/gtk-2.0/gdk-pixbuf.loaders
and
Code: [Select]
su
ln -sf /opt/QtPalmtop/lib/gtk-2.0 /usr/lib/gtk-2.0
gdk-pixbuf-query-loaders > /etc/gtk-2.0/gdk-pixbuf.loaders

However, I failed to use SCIM in abiword. Even after i start SCIM from the terminal, and assigned Hotkeys for the IM I want to use, SCIM still won't work. (I can already see the small SCIM icon hanging on the toolbar of flux)

And, although I know this might happen, IM for sharp rom (ckeyboard) does not work in abiword. Although in the Text editor I can see the incorrect fonts show up, but I can't find unisun in TextEditor. So I still have no way to input chinese in X..

Is there something else need to be done to make SCIM work?
SCIM is one main reason why I want the X environment ^^a

Besides, the freetype version too old message still shows up when I try to start GIMP.. not knowing how to uninstall free type inside X, so I still cannot start GIMP

a few posts up meanie posted "...try running the xqtcleanup script and then make sure there is no more libglib* under /usr/lib/ and then try again."

I'm sure the script is somewhere on his site.
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=128500\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

Thank you for kindly pointing out
However, I tried the process mentioned above (mnt/pdaxqtrom-base/tools/xqtcleanup -yes, then rm libglib* in /usr/lib/)
and I still experience the same problem, this time accompanied with another error looks like this

Code: [Select]
BScreen::BScreen: managing screen 0 using visual 0x21, depth 16
2036: Segmentation fault
FbTk::Transparent: Failed to find format for Screen(0)
FbTk::Transparent: Failed to find format for Screen(0)
dozens of the above line...

Unknown ClientMessage

Keys: Failed to merge keytree!

Is there anything I missed?
