Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Akita Hentges 1.0.x Gpe Notes
« on: December 09, 2006, 08:22:35 pm »
Some notes on post-install of the Hentges 1.0.x GPE image on a C-1000 (Akita):

Fluxbox my butt:  I had to remove the fluxbox-gpe package, which changed it back to matchbox-wm and made the operation rather sane and more Opie-ish.  Better.

XMMS and ESD: ESD is always running, and it takes up the audio device to boot.  This causes XMMS to wait until the audio device is freed up (which won't happen).  Unfortunately, XMMS isn't compiled with the ESD plugin, and I doubt ESD is compiled for ALSA.

I'm double checking some font issues, see if they're all there or not.  Hopefully I can bend this ROM to my will.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Collie, Mplayer, Libmad0 Don't Run
« on: October 29, 2006, 05:32:26 pm »
Code: [Select]
root@collie:~# mplayer
mplayer: error while loading shared libraries: libmad.so.0: cannot enable executable stack as shared object requires: Error 14
root@collie:~#

That's on a SL5500 (Collie), using both the latest OZ 3.5.4 and the Hentges ROM 3.5.4.1.  Something wrong here?

Makes me wonder if XMMS is having the same problems...  nope, doesn't have that problem.

General Discussion / Mplayer, Libmad0 Problems
« on: August 23, 2006, 01:18:29 am »
Zaurus SL-5500, OE latest stable.  Every time I try to run Mplayer:

Code: [Select]
root@collie:~# mplayer
mplayer: error while loading shared libraries: libmad.so.0: cannot enable executable stack as shared object requires: Error 14
root@collie:~#

Any ideas?  I've already removed this and all the dependencies, and then reinstalled it.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Usb-net Not Working In Collie -r21 Kernel
« on: September 05, 2005, 10:00:11 pm »
I have a 5500SL (collie) that was a bitch to upgrade (Opie kept wanting to update -- I deleted enough space to make it go through).  One flash later, everything seems normal... until I try to transfer files over USB.

Nope, no go.  Tried the old "Remove every module related to it" trick, and had to reboot my zaurus because it stuck on the Return key.

Out on a whim, I pulled up the terminal and typed in "dmesg":
Code: [Select]
usbdm: usbd_monitor 0.3 035 2002-06-12 20:00
monitor_request_irq: 23 44
monitor_request_irq: failed: -16
usbdm: request irq failed.

unload and reload usbdmonitor, and the IRQ is gotten... but now my touchscreen doesn't work, and USBnet still doesn't work.

A reboot doesn't help with the USB issue.  At least I can get wifi out to update things if need be...

Is there any reason why OZ (latest release) has qpe-font-* recommending some USB kernel drivers?  The package manager's complaining about it.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / OZ 3.5.1/GPE Rxvt bug
« on: September 22, 2004, 02:42:40 am »
I've found out that the RXVT bug relates to how large a word wrapping you have with programs.  If you switch to Landscape mode and try an ifconfig, for example, it doesn't trigger -- but if you stay in Portrait mode and do the ifconfig in RXVT, it exits.

Accessories / Linksys WCF12 on 5500 only works for 45 seconds.
« on: December 31, 2003, 01:15:56 pm »
Now I got one for you.

This is the second Linksys WCF12 card I\'ve tried on my 5500SL using OpenZaurus 3.2.  It works for only 45 seconds or so once in, and then dies (the card, not the unit).

Sharp 3.1x ROM freezes with the card.

The upshot is that I can plug in a Linksys WPC11-V3 through a passive adapter and it works with OZ.  Sharp doesn\'t recognize it.

Any ideas?
