PocketPenguin / Gta02-core Open Hardware Project
« on: May 18, 2009, 10:11:10 pm »
Some folks might be interested in the GTA02-core project:

http://wiki.openmoko.org/wiki/Gta02-core

From the Wiki:

"gta02-core is an experimental project to explore community involvement in the development of hardware for potential future open phones. The aim is to develop an incremental improvement on existing GTA02 designs, while replicating the necessary CAD files in a open format."

OpenMoko / Android Ported To Openmoko Devices
« on: November 06, 2008, 10:51:43 am »
Since nobody else posted this I figured I should.  Andriod is up and running on the FreeRunner and Neo1973 Om devices:

http://onlinedev.blogspot.com/2008/11/gett...oid-on-neo.html

Still some warts, but hopefully those will be ironed out soon.

What I would personally like to see is the Dalvik VM and the other runtimes  in a lean package to allow for Android apps to run on any flavor of Linux.

And the opkg repository for it (which is configured by default):

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / An Oz/qpe Install Question
« on: August 08, 2006, 03:11:02 pm »
It has been a veeery long time since I tried OZ and it looks like many improvements have been made.  Looking at the install instructions here:

http://wiki.openzaurus.org/C7x0/Install

The first step states "Ensure that your c7x0 machine has a standard flash partitioning (e.g. as it was originally), flashing may fail if this is not the case. ".  So, If I'm understanding this correctly if you have used any other ROM, since most all of them repartition, you have to do a NAND restore of the Sharp image before installing OZ.  I don't remember this with the old versions of OZ and I'm surprised to see it with the current version of OZ.  Please tell me this is not the case.

Thanks!

Software / Squid Cache Server For Cacko 1.22
« on: January 18, 2005, 01:45:29 pm »
I have uploaded the squid cache server to the Cacko Feed at:

http://cacko.biz/cacko/feed

It should give you a web browsing performance increase since none of the browsers included with Cacko do much caching.  You will need a non-FAT formatted media card to store the cache on and some post install configuration documented in the help file.

You can find some additional info on Squid here.

Please let me know how it goes for you.

Thanks!

User Request for Applications / Macromedia Flash players
« on: October 26, 2004, 08:02:21 pm »
Anyone tried porting either of these Flash players to the Z?

Swfdec is a library for rendering Flash animations and games:

http://swfdec.sourceforge.net/

F4L is a Flash editor for Linux written in QT:

http://f4l.sourceforge.net/

Haven't dove in myself yet, but I was wondering if anyone else had?

Thanks!

Are there any plans to incorporate the library from Sash to provide Imageon100 acceleration on the Cxx0 model Zaurus?  It would be nice.

Software / OpenSSL 0.9.7d Package Available for Sharp ROMs
« on: September 23, 2004, 01:05:36 am »
I compiled OpenSSL 0.9.7d for Cacko and other Sharp ROMs.  I made a header package as well for those wanting to compile natively.  It installs under /opt/QtPalmtop and all binaries are stripped.  Packages are:

openssl-includes_0.9.7d_arm.ipk
openssl_0.9.7d_arm.ipk

It's all on my feed:

http://www.bryandeluca.com/feed

I was getting errors trying to submit this package via ZSI2.  Please let me know if this blows up your Z.    It's been working for me on my Z thusfar.

Enjoy!

Security and Networking / Cacko qpe listens on ports 4992 and 4244
« on: September 20, 2004, 04:08:21 pm »
Is there a way of disabling qpe from listening on 4992 and 4244?  On my Cacko 1.21b ROM as root:

# netstat -nap --protocol=inet
Proto   Recv-Q   Send-Q   Local Address   Foreign Address   State   PID/Program name
tcp   0   0   0.0.0.0:4992   0.0.0.0:*   LISTEN   242/qpe
tcp   0   0   0.0.0.0:4244   0.0.0.0:*   LISTEN   242/qpe

Since I do not use this service to sync it would be nice to disable.  If I can't disable I guess it could be secured with iptables/ipchains etc.  Does QPE recognize hosts.allow?  Any ideas?

Thanks!

« on: July 16, 2004, 05:05:38 pm »
Does anyone know where the kernel source for Cacko 1.21b can be had?  I would like to attempt a recompile with iptables.

Thanks!

Does anyone know of a Perl package for the Z that has DBI included?  Even better would be DBI and DBD:mysql.

Thanks...

Accessories / Fujitsu MBH2WL07 SDIO Wifi Card for Linux
« on: June 21, 2004, 05:58:43 pm »
I found this while searching for SDIO information:

http://edevice.fujitsu.com/fj/MARCOM/find/...22-1e/pdf/9.pdf

This is from the FIND Fujitsu Electronics News Magazine, February 2004:

http://edevice.fujitsu.com/fj/MARCOM/find/...2-1e/index.html

Interesting bit:

\"OS supported by driver
For CF+ card interface: Windows CE, Linux
 For SDIO interface: Linux\"

If I\'m reading this right this should be an SDIO Wifi Card that works under Linux.  I guess we will have to see when it comes out, but it sounds cool.
