Just like Foxdie, I don\'t want to post my resume due to sensitive information.  If you have any positions that are Peoplesoft (Supply Chain Management/Financials), Brio SQR or Help Desk Management, please let me know.  Just paste it below or message me using the ZUG message options.

If you have not seen Foxdie\'s post, please click here and see if you have any IT support (assistant) role between the Birmingham City area and Redditch, Worcestershire.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Where would you like to see pdaXrom go?
« on: March 25, 2004, 09:41:48 pm »
I am not a pdaXrom specific developer, but it is the platform I develop for.  I find it to be one of the easiest ROMs to cater to.  So, as I know Sash (the originator of the ROM) is watching and is always listening to the users, I thought I would toss out a simple question;  Where would you like to see pdaXrom go?  Would it be a different Window Manager?  Would it be better integration to Windows?  Do you have a more profession use for it for you business?  Need a better game machine?  What specific applications fit your needs?

The idea is simple.  People like sash are creating a ROM for the user.  We, the developing group, and those that work the actual ROM, need to hear what your use is and what your need is.

For Sale / Wanted / Zaurus C700 and C760 for trade!
« on: March 17, 2004, 05:54:56 pm »
Can\'t do money deals because of my divorce.

I am willing to hear trades for either unit.  Both are in excellent condition.  The C700 is the unit that created the original Dynamism conversion.  The C760 is the one I do the cacko ROM work on.  I still have a C860, so I am all set to keep working.

The C760 will carry a full Dynamism warranty and had not problems overclocking.  The C700 will also overclock nicely.  Both are only used for testing.

As well I have an IO Data CFXGA VGA card I am willing to toss in for a good trade.

I am really looking at a UX50 (to hack) or a Tapwave Zodiac2 (also for hacking).

Feel free to email me at dsolomo1 at with any questions.

Serious trades only.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Allegro ported/Sword of Fargoal Uploaded
« on: March 06, 2004, 01:23:06 pm »
I have uploaded the Allegro libraries and the Allegro development files to

As well, I have uploaded the RPG Rogue-like C64 remake Sword of Fargoal.  To play you need to allegro_lib_dir (untar to /usr/local or /usr and run ldconfig).

To develop with Allegro, just untar allegro_devel to /opt/arm/3.3.2 and the allegro-config file should be picked up by your ./configure processes.

Can someone make some .ipks of these?  Thank you.

untar to /usr/local

Feedback needed as this one I think is the JVM people are wanting.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / JamVM (Java Virtual Machine) Uploaded.

JamVM \"Features\" (from the home page)
For those interested in the design of virtual machines, JamVM includes a number of optimisations to improve speed and reduce foot-print. A list, in no particular order, is given below.
Uses native threading (posix threads). Full thread implementation including Thread.interrupt()
Object references are direct pointers (i.e. no handles)
Supports class loaders
Efficient thin locks for fast locking in uncontended cases (the majority of locking) without using spin-locking
Two word object header to minimise heap overhead (lock word and class pointer)
Execution engine supports basic switched interpreter and threaded intepreter, to minimise dispatch overhead (requires gcc value labels)
Stop-the-world mark and sweep garbage collector
Thread suspension uses signals to reduce suspend latency and improve performance (no suspension checks during normal execution)
Full object finalisation support within the garbage collector (with finaliser thread)
Garbage collector can run synchronously or asynchronously within its own thread
String constants within class files are stored in hash table to minimise class data overhead (string constants shared between all classes)
Supports JNI and dynamic loading for use with standard libraries
Uses its own lightweight native interface for internal native methods without overhead of JNI
JavaVM is written in C, with a small amount of platform dependent assembler, and is easily portable to other architectures.

Feedback appreciated.

In celebration of the new ROM (and to test the compiling environment), I have compiled Visual Boy Advance for the new ROM.  You can find it in the usual place.

Please give feedback (I am sure it needs some tuning).

I for one am looking for work in the US.  As well, I know Pentad has been looking.

If you know of positions in your area, feel free to post them here.  You never know who may apply.  ;-)
