General Discussion / Help with networking

Hi all,

Good to see the forum back up.
Wonder if anyone can help.
I am trying to share my iPhone connection to the z via bluetooth.
It pairs and connects fine and the blue highlight shows on the iPhone
to say that a shared connection is active.

I have created a new connection to bnep0 and added
route add default gw.

Still cannot connect using the mail app or web browser.
If I try and ping a connection the console just stalls.

I have tried all combinations of using the network application
and connection via console or the bluetooth guy with exactly the same
result.

It would be great to get this working as it would mean i could use my
zaurus again.

Security and Networking / Bluetooth Internet

Hi,

I dont know if there is anyone to answer this as it is very quiet around here.

Have been struggling with this for ages. I can no longer use my wireless card

as most systems seem to be using wpa and I do not have a card for this.

Thinking that i could use bluetooth sharing from my iMac I have tried to set this

up using the various instructions available i.e. Bluetooth PAN setup.  I can connect fine

and set up a gateway to the mac and config bnep0. Sometimes I can even ping mac and

vice versa. I can even see from the Mac console that Internet sharing is fired up when I

connect. What I can't achieve however is to browse the internet from the Z ( c860)Cacko.

Have tried every version of ip and gateway I can think of and am now stuck.

If there is anyone out there with some info I would appreciate any suggestions.

General Discussion / Nasty Blip In Audio

Hi all,

I am using my Z to play mp3 tracks which it does reasonably well.
only problem is that at the end of each track there is an audio
blip where it stops playing and then starts the next track.
Just wondered if anyone else had encountered this and knew
of a solution. I am using the stock audio  player, kino and
Quasar media player all seem to do the same.

Security and Networking / Network Password

Hi All,

I would like to improve the security of my Z when on a wireless network.
I find that the Z appears on the desktop of Mac computers on the
same network just as any ordinary disk. Is there a way to password protect
the files? I.e. to make a secure login from other computers.

i have downloaded and installed the dictionaries for zbedic.
i cannot for the life of me locate where they are installed so that i can
direct zbedic to them.

anyone know where they live?

Software / Mail Continually Downloads Same Messages.

Hi ,

i have just reinstalled Cacko and trying to get it set up.

 I can connect through my phone for internet and e-mail

but the mail program continually downloads the same messages each time I connect.

Any way to stop this as it is really annoying.

well it would be if i didnt have to keep reinserting the bluetooth card.

anyone come up with a solution for the supend resume problem?

Software / Square Boxes Instead Of Text

Hi all,

I am using cacko 1.23 full on a c860.
When using ZBEDIC the dictionary reader I get some square boxes instead of certain letters
in the pronunciation part of the readout.

Do I need to install a particular font?

It doesnt happen with any other program.

Sharp ROMs / Connect To Lg Phone

Hi

i am trying to connect via bluetooth to an LG mobile - for gprs.
I am using the same settings i had working with a motorola phone - apart from
bluetooth adress of course.

trouble is instead of connecting the phone just comes up with "add device to list"
when it is already paired.


Any help appreciated

General Discussion / Battery Always 100%

Hi

I am having problems with my c860 ( Cacko 1.23).


The power light is flashing when it used to be constant and I am pretty sure the battery is not being charged.

 i have tried a new battery and the machine boots ok from battery but shuts off when I plug the power cable in.

The strange thing is that the battery applet always shows 100%.

( I have reinstalled the ROM)

I am concerned that it is the internal fuses that have blown and I cannot face opening up the unit myself.

Hi

 iwas using a socket bluetooth card and fig labs software to connect to my phone.
I scanned for suitable sources and found my phone  and one other source ( blue man group or something.

I chose my phone connection and connected to this

When i got home i checked the obex inbox and found a 300kb file in there from blue man group (video)  

just surprised as to how this had got there as i  had not connected to the network and had not 'paired' any connection.


bit worrying really.

Sharp ROMs / Socket Bluetooth

ok
i have an old rev e card which i had given up on as it was not being recognised.

as i had flashed a new rom cacko 1.23 i thought i would try again as the fig labs connection applet came up once after flashing

now if i physically flex the card and insert it  'usually' brings up the applet and then works perfectly until i 'sleep' the z

when i restart the applet will not show up and i have to flex the card  and reinsert several times.

not sure if it is solely the card which is playing up or the software is somehow ejecting the card and then not recognising it.- maybe a combination.

Sharp ROMs / Application Freezes

Hi all

when i restart the z i get to the set time screen and cannot quit this or save.
the application freezes. I can get to the home desktop and use other applications but cannot either get back to the set system time screen or remove it.


I have tried several cold restarts but with no luck. Do i need to reinstall?
