General Discussion / Need Help Connecting Opera

Hello,
My school recently modified their wireless access points.
Before I could connect to the net with opera, but now the access points are wifi only.  For windows users, there is a portal they can go through to access the internet, but us Linux users must find our own way.  What I can do is log in to the school's linux server, and from there I can use lynx for internet access, so I am looking for a way to route opera through the linux server.

Software / Keypebble crashes when scaled

Hi,
When I run keypebble (VNC client), everything works fine as long as I do not scale the image.  If I do turn scaling on, it will run untill I touch the screen.  Once I touch the screen 'poof' it crashes.
Anybody run into this before?
This is on a 5500 with OZ 3.3.5

Hello,

I installed keypebble (running OZ, installed keypebble from the stable feed) and I do not seem to know what I am doing.  I set up KDE remote desktop to accept uninvited connections with a password and when I try to connect from my zaurus the bottom of my screen says 'connected' for like a few seconds (only if I try display 0, otherwise I get connection refused) but it does not do anything else.  Isn't it supposed to show the remote desktop next?  I have searched for like the past day and a half for an answer but no joy on that.  Any insight?  Or any links to a place that has good info on using keypebble?

General Discussion / Always have to mount cf after suspend

How do I fix this? Every time I turn it on from suspend or switch cf cards, I have to go to terminal and mount it even though it correctly displays the new card on the taskbar. This is on a 5500 with OZ 3.3.5, my cf wifi works without any problems but when I put in the memory cf it looks like it loads it on the taskbar but no files are accesable until I mount it.

General Discussion / Question about docking port.

Do I understand this correctly:
The docking port syncs using usb via the cradle but the docking port itself cannot be configured as a usb port?

Just wondering as I would like a way to utilize a second cf card.

OK after alot of checking this stuff out I found an mplayer ipk that worked on my 5500 with OZ.
The test file there played real nice so i am trying to do this encoding thing like the instructions there (http://www.zeb.uklinux.net/encoding.html) I am trying right now to compile mplayer on my laptop and it compiled fine by itself but then I saw on the page I got the mplayer from that you needed libavcodec so I got the file but now when I try to do \'make\' for mplayer it ends with an error related to the labavcodec files \' ad-ffmpeg: structure has no member fourcc\'  

all i want to do is watch some anime avi\'s that I have...  what should I do?

Software / error installing mplayer.

i installed and removed a couple versions of mplayer (trying to find one that will work), now when i try to install one it says :

dealing with package /root/documents/mplayer_20030614-10_armv4l-strongarm.ipk
ERROR: package mplayer(parent mplayer) is not available from any configured src.
installing mplayer (0.90rc4) to root
failed to download mplayer

where 0.90rc4 is one i installed and removed before but not the one i am trying to install.
what i have done so far is to try yet another mplayer ipk and recieved the same results. and searched my files for any left overs from a previous install (find / -name *mpl* -print) and deleted them but still no change.
this is on a 5500 with oz 3.3.5

what am i doing wrong?

General Discussion / what does an error about lprng.postinstl mean?

when i install things i seem to get an error at the end that says:

 sh:
 /usr/lib/ipkg/info/lprng.postinst not found
ERROR: lprng.postinstl returned 127

the file is there when i look, what does this mean?  the programs usually still seem to be installed so what is this then?

Off Topic forum / while opera loads

while opera loads there is a dark gray screen before the home page opens. when i look closely i see a bunch of really fast white lines in the gray. this is my zaurus\'s soul.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / opera 7.3 occasional SIGSEGV crash why?

i just dumped 6.23 and installed 7.3 as per a discussion in another thread here.  it works nicely except it keeps crashing with a SIGSEGV fault. what does this mean and what do i do.? thanks in advance.
i have 5500 with oz 3.3.5

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / command line history not saved

i thought this would be an easy one but after searching for awhile i havent found an answer.  on my 5500 with oz 3.3.5, i am trying to get the konsole to save the command history.  so far i have set the HISTFILESIZE to 50 as well as the HISTSIZE.  i have a file called .ash_history that i can manually put lines into and they will be read when i start the konsole but it does write the lines on its own like it should. what am i doing wrong€

so there i was, making the most of my sd card and  installing any app that sounded interesting...  at one point i flipped through the tabs and saw an icon titled \'newapp\' wich does nothing when tapped except pop up a message about it being an unknown application.

so how do i get rid of it? thought of uninstalling it if i only new what it is...

hi all, no real good point here, just so happy to have my 5500 running with oz3.3.5!!
with a 256M sd card formatted with two partitions for /opt and /usr like a great zaurus user here recomended.
got jeode installed and kopi so i can write and compile my little java apps for school.
so happy.

never could get the hancom creator to work correctly but i got tired of reflashing so i do not have those apps but that is only a small cloud right now.
 
whats your setup?
