6000 - Tosa / Does Any Distro Work On The Tosa?
« on: February 19, 2010, 04:36:11 pm »
My TOSA's gathering dust - does anybody have these anymore?

What's the most up-to-date OS I can use?

The 6000 is a good machine, I hate to see it just sit there...

Thanks

6000 - Tosa / Can Ms Windows Mobile 2003 Be Installed On Tosa?
« on: June 20, 2006, 04:58:06 pm »
Does anyone know of a way to install Microsoft Windows Mobile on the SL6000?
This appears to be what the HC-6000N is, but it's only available in Japan.

What would it take to get this working (in English) on my Z?

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Pl2303 Support?
« on: February 21, 2006, 03:43:57 pm »
Does anyone have any source for pl2303 support for pdaXrom?

I looked on the pdaXrom feeds, but didn't find source or binaries for these, which are needed by usb-serial dongle thingies.

I use an SL6000, if that matters, and I have rc12 running.

I could compile it, but have been unable to locate source and can't seem to google it.

Thanks!

« on: February 12, 2006, 01:10:41 pm »
Has anyone tried to build MySql 5 ?
I tried it and ./configure blows up because I don't have 'getconf'.

Does anyone know where I can find getconf? I didn't see it in the pdaXrom feeds

Thanks

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Basic Hotplug Questions
« on: January 10, 2006, 10:05:31 am »
I've noticed that when I plug my SL6000 into the USB cradle while the Zaurus is powered on, my usbd0 interface comes up properly (SL6000 as dhcpcd client talking to Windows XP which is using Internet Connection Sharing).

This works ok.

However, when I remove the zaurus from the cradle (while powered on) - then the usbd0 interface remains up (it never runs the /etc/hotplug/usbd.func script file in this case).  How can I fix this?

Also, I tried making the screen rotate when I insert the 6000 into the cradle, but it doesn't work (xrandr says: "Can't open display").  I added the xrandr call to the /etc/hotplug/usbd.func script.

I also tried starting the VNC server from that script, but that also fails.

How can I rotate the screen and start the VNC server (if X is up) when the 6000 is inserted into the cradle?

Thanks for any help!

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Cpu Speed Slows Down After A While?
« on: December 08, 2005, 05:05:59 pm »
I've noticed some slowness when running several different versions of MAME on my SL6000.

I can get 20+ frames per second when I start, say, MSPacman.  But after playing around one or two minutes, it slows to a crawl - more like 10FPS.

I don't believe that it's a memory issue, and I'm running Xmame.SDL from outside of X (I exit X first).

Any idea what could cause this, or what I can do about it?

Is there some way to accelerate the CPU and keep it that way when I'm running some particular application? (I tried to use 'nice', but this didn't seem to matter.)

If I exit and restart MAME, it is fast again (before slowing down, as it always does).

I've compiled my own Xmame 0.77 with a subset of all games to shrink the executable (still 20MB, though).  This seems to slightly speed it up, but it still exhibits the slowdown behavior.

Help??

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Looking For Native Compile Tutorial
« on: November 08, 2005, 04:49:18 pm »
Is there a tutorial somewhere on how to get a SL6000 with a fresh rc12 install up to the point where I can create a simple "hello world" application?

The pdaXrom.org site docs concentrate on cross-compiling, but I'd like to get everything happening on the Zaurus, if possible, and I assume that's what the native environment is for, but I can't find setup documentation.

I'd appreciate any pointers.

General Discussion / Support For 2gb Sd Cards?
« on: November 07, 2005, 04:15:17 pm »
Does anyone know if the Zaurus can handle SD cards > 1GB?

I just got mine today, which is formatted as 2GB FAT, but nothing happens when I plug it into my 6000.

Is there any hope to get it working?

Zaurus - pdaXrom / How To Setup 6000 Internal Wifi On Rc12?
« on: November 02, 2005, 11:41:00 pm »
Awesome ROM! Still trying to set it up and am having trouble with the built-in wireless.

I tried looking around in these forums, but everything seems to say I should use the "System Tools/LAN& WIFI" utility (network.py).  I tried setting up my WEP network in there (after 'usbctl on 1'), but when I hit "OK", it doesn't work.  Here's what I see in /var/log/messages:

/sbin/hotplug: no runnable /etc/hotplug/wlan.agent is installed
/sbin/hotplug/net.agent: how do I bring interfaces up on this distro?
/sbin/hotplug/net.agent: register event not handled
/sbin/hotplug/net.agent: Setup prism2_usb for USB product 0/0/0

Here's 'ifconfig -a'"
lo ...

wlan0  Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:00:00:00:00:00
          BROADCAST MULTICAST  MTU:1500 Metric:1
          (RX packets/TX packets all 0)

And when I enter "usbctl off 1" I see this in /var/log/messages:

/sbin/hotplug: no runnable /etc/hotplug/wlan.agent is installed
/sbin/hotplug/net.agent: NET unregister event not supported

What am I missing?

Guylhem Rom / Xmame
« on: May 09, 2005, 04:10:45 pm »
Thanks for this new ROM...

I just installed it on my SL6K and like it so far!

Is there a version of Mame that will run on this?

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Where Is 2.6 Kernel?
« on: April 16, 2005, 10:47:27 pm »
Is there a 2.6 kernel available for the SL6000? I am trying the version of oz3.5.3 from the oz site, but it shows as 2.4.18.

6000 - Tosa / Serial Over Usb Host?
« on: March 12, 2005, 09:43:34 pm »
I have this usb to serial cable adapter:

http://www.serialio.com/products/adaptors/usb_serial.htm

It's based on the pl2303, but is unrecognized when I plug it in via my iRiver cable, as can be seen in my dmesg output:

hub.c: USB new device connect on bus1/1, assigned device number 95
usb.c: USB device 95 (vend/prod 0x67b/0x2303) is not claimed by any active driver.

What would it take to get this working on the zaurus?

PS - I know about the other cable that plugs in the Sharp I/O port, but that cable is kind of pricey ($30 or so)

They ship a pl2303.c file on their cdrom, but I can't seem to find the pl2303.h file, (but wouldn't know how to build them anyway)

6000 - Tosa / Custom "expansion Sled" Possible?
« on: February 21, 2005, 05:06:00 pm »
Does anyone have pinouts for the SL6000L "expansion connector" under the cover in the back, where the "sled" attaches"

Can this connector be used to directly attach an IDE hard drive?
Would the throughput beat the USB 1.1 host port?
