Could this be a sign that the next Zaurus may have these or other components integrated into it?

I certainly hope so!!

Mass battery HLI-C3000 for Zaurus SL-C3000

Mass exchange battery for PDA. The commodity here corresponds to Zaurus SL-C3100/C3000/C1000/C860/C760/B500.
Capacity is from a battery of the main body standard attachment (1,800mAh or 1,700mAh) to mass 2,000mAh. Moreover, the price is cheap from pure goods.

It is an item that I would like the heavy user with an early power supply consumption to use it by all means.

Corresponding model: Zaurus C3100/C3000/C1000/C860/C760/B500

- The main specification

Capacity: 2,000mAh
Voltage: 3.7V

Just in time, my battery is almost 2 years old and it shows.

General Discussion / Zaurus Line Expanding
« on: August 24, 2005, 12:40:00 pm »
According to this article, Sharp is teaming up with Mitsubishi to produce the combo device.  Also mentions that it is possible they will market separately, would love to see a clamshell device with integrated cell phone.  Add wifi (802.11g) and bluetooth and you have the ultimate wireless combo device.

General Discussion / Backup Software/options
« on: February 09, 2005, 08:40:02 pm »
I'm trying to determine what would give me the most flexibility for backups and restores.  Is tkcBackup the only full-blown application that lets you do selective backups/restores?  What are some of you using, other apps, scripts, manual processes?

Software / Ko/pi 2.0.0
« on: February 02, 2005, 12:43:58 am »
Anyone,

I just upgraded from 1.7.7 to 2.0.0 and all of my appointment times are shifted ahead 7 hours, both past and future appointments.  I do not sync my Z with the desktop.  My time and timezone were correctly set on the Z prior to removing the old version and installing the new.  And I followed the prompt on installation to set timezone within KO/PI.

1) Anyone know what caused this?
2) Can I globally adjust all appointments back 7 hours?

Python / Writing A Bluetooth Gui In Python?
« on: December 16, 2004, 05:52:46 pm »
I am a former mainframe Cobol programmer (5 years removed) looking to resharpen the programming skills and I am becoming more and more intrigued with Python.  I'm looking for a worthy first project that I can cut my teeth on and provide an app to the Zaurus community that others may use.

Is this a good Python first project?

Is Python a good language to use for this type of application?

Are there problems or language limitations that would make a project like this difficult?

Can anyone point out some good resources to help give me a better understanding of Bluetooth that would help me develop such an application?

Is there an online repository of Python coding examples that I can browse to speed my learning curve?

Lastly, is anyone using the BlackAdder IDE?  What are your thoughts and are there other Python IDEs out there that are as good or better?

Appreciate any input provided.

Off Topic forum / How about this as a Linux OS phone?
« on: November 04, 2004, 01:39:48 pm »
http://msn-cnet.com.com/PalmOne+ponders+Mi...subj=ns_5438347

It appears PalmOne is considering other OS options for its Treo phones.  I personally would love a Linux based Treo.  Love the keyboard.

Thoughts?

P.S.  The Treo 600 uses a TI OMAP 144MHz Arm processor.  Anyone know how hard it would be to put OZ or Cacko onto this device?  I know there are some out there with broken radios (no longer can use the phone portion) but the PDA portion works fine.

Does anyone know whether this is Qtopia based or not?

It's good to see all of the linux based products hitting the market.  I just wonder whether these devices will be able to run any of the programs that are available for the Zaurus.

Off Topic forum / How about this alternative ROM?
« on: September 03, 2004, 07:17:27 pm »
It appears the 'never say die' Newton users are looking to create an emulator to run the Newton OS on more up-to-date hardware like the Zaurus.  If they can pull this off and if it has decent performance numbers, this could be a very interesting handheld.

Could this nudge Apple into releasing their designed but never released handheld?  Or possibly, come out with a multi-media handheld that combines PDA, iPod and video in one device?

Interesting, very interesting!

Can anyone (Zautrix, anyone else?) let us know how the porting/conversion of KA/Pi is going?  Not trying to rush the issue but the work on KO/Pi and KA/Pi represents some of the most exciting development work going for the Zaurus and I was just curious as to whether it is close to a beta release.

Also, is anyone else out there working on a project of similar magnitude and/or importance that you\'d like to mention?

Thank you guys for the work you are doing.....it is greatly appreciated !!

Being somewhat of a novice to Linux and the command line, vi and the like, I would love to have a gui app to discover and pair up with other bluetooth devices.

I see from previous posts that Tumnus was working on a gui interface, but hasn\'t had time to finish it.  Is there anyone else out there who is working on a gui?

How easy would it be to get the Bonobo gui app, from the Gnome Bluetooth Subsystem project, to run on the Z?

Are there any of you who have tried both Debian and pdaXrom?  If so, could you share what you see as the pros and cons of each.  Particularly interested in the performance of applications in each environment.

General Discussion / 4GB microdrive for $249!!! Will this work in Zaurus.
« on: February 27, 2004, 12:11:21 pm »
Apparently the 4GB microdrive in the new ipod mini can be removed and inserted into any standard CompactFlash slot.

Does anyone know if a special driver would be required or does it simply see it as a CF card?

If this will work \'as-is\' this could be a very, very cheap mass storage option.
