Cosmo Communicator - Android / Well, I'm bloody annoyed
« on: November 11, 2019, 02:35:18 pm »
I know, silly me to think I could get the same setup on the screen as the Gemini, but hope springs eternal.

The Fn + C/V keys allow for sizing the display, which on the Gemini I had set to a custom 288 - but Cosmo will only let me go to 300.

Why does this matter? Well, the bloody android "software buttons" insist on being on the right-hand side orientation, and not even NovaLauncher will be able to change that, as far as I can tell.
So now I have the Back/Home/Whatever buttons on the right side, in the bloody way of anything I use that goes to the right edge of the screen. Irritating as hell.

I'll wait for further guides before going on a mega-rant, perhaps there is a way to do it and I'm not aware of the exact method -- but there bloody well better be, or this thing is going on the gadget pile of shame, really quickly.

Also, why the hell the keyboard backlight doesn't stay on when I'd love it to is something else I'd love to know how to change.

I wouldn't mind rolling the Cosmo back to the Android rev I had on the Gemini to get my screen rez back, but I'm not holding my breath for that kind of radical solution.

Gemini PDA - Android / Termux - Using Xeffyr termux-x-repository
« on: June 10, 2018, 12:27:55 pm »
Was wondering if anyone had managed to get the termux-desktop working from Xeffyr's repository.

https://github.com/xeffyr/termux-x-repository

Unfortunately "termux-desktop" isn't found, and I'm at a bit of a loss to determine next steps. Is there a better source? I've done some googling but what returns seems to be a bit different -- https://wiki.termux.com/wiki/Package_Management

Which has an entry for Xeffyr's repo:

Quote
This repository mirroring packages from the termux.net. Unlike main repository, it also stores old versions of packages.

To setup this repository, follow these steps:

1. Get PGP key for this repository. You may need to install 'dirmngr' package.

apt-key adv --keyserver keys.gnupg.net --recv 9D6D488416B493F0

2. Add this to your sources.list:

# Xeffyr's Termux Packages mirror
deb https://termux.xeffyr.ml/ stable main

Then do apt update to update package lists.

And I'm still a bit confused as to what I'm grabbing for use on the Termux app on Gemini.

Would appreciate any pointers or experiences you have relating to this.

Gemini PDA - Hardware / MediaTek System On Chip - mtklogger malware
« on: June 06, 2018, 05:40:24 pm »
Ran across a blog post on Medium that referenced MediaTek's SoC and what he describes as a "keylogger" mtklogger as part of the package.

Reference - https://medium.com/@chpapa/review-after-two...ne-7dd8b550609a

If this is accurate, how exactly do we trust this in its default state as Gemini PDA's are shipped, and how do you remove/fix this?

If this is not the proper forum, I apologize, thought hardware may be the best area.

Thanks in advance for any guidance on this.
