Cosmo Communicator - Hardware / Left speaker much quieter than right?
« on: October 25, 2020, 07:04:52 am »
I've been using my cosmo almost exclusively muted or with headphones, recently watched a movie through the built-in speakers and noticed the left one is much quieter than the right. The left one is still working, but it is so much drowned out by the right one you have to actually put it next to the ear to hear that it is also playing. Tried using some equalizer apps to shift the balance left, but it's not really helping. I've contacted support and got this:

Yes one speaker is louder than the other, this is not a fault. If however, the speaker has failed, this we need the look at.
So, just not to have to deal with data backing up and paying 25$ plus shipping etc just to get it back as 'all fine'. Is this really normal? I've searched this forum but the only thing I found is: speakers are actually stereo and separation is great, much better than gemini. Which leads me to believe I do have a faulty one. But surely people would complain that you can only hear the right speaker while playing a movie? Can someone pls comment on the 'one speaker is louder than the other' as working as expected, should the difference be miniscule or huge as I am experiencing it?

Cosmo Communicator - Linux / Right-click
« on: February 14, 2020, 08:54:30 am »
Found this from gemini subforum, even though mapping to silver button doesn't work but you can use any normal key combo, just assign one of the key combos in /usr/share/X11/xkb/planet_vndr/cosmo value Pointer_Button3 and then run 'xkbset m' (can also assign to left click as Pointer_Button1 which helps for SDL apps somewhat, in battle for wesnoth buttons in main menu can be clicked this way, though unit movement is still broken, maybe key release is not issued?)
Just be careful editing this file, as you could possibly make yourself unable to enter root password/login etc, best to edit some layout you're not using and switch to it and back if something went wrong, as that needs no key presses

Cosmo Communicator - Android / Fullscreen browser?
« on: January 31, 2020, 11:15:54 am »
Apparently chrome lost its ability to browse in fullscreen somewhere since 2016 (settings->site settings as articles from 2016 suggest no longer has it), firefox seems to also have it missing and addon for fullscreen does nothing... Anyone has maybe figured this out? Thanks in advance

Maybe it only happens for mobile browsers, but searching keeps giving me the 'search flood control enabled, wait 5 seconds' even after waiting like 30 seconds, or even few minutes later (same for view new posts when I first logged in today, so after like 24h). Didn't notice it being that painful from desktop, though did have issue going back to 'view new posts' page once or twice, so it also seems to have some anti-caching code which forces the browser to reload it even when going 'back'

Was wondering if there is any other way to pull topics/posts outside of browsing and RSS, as cosmos get delivered there's now healthy dose of new posts daily and turns out mobile browsing sucks, so was thinking of building a simple qml reader, but not sure what options are available. Found one topic from 2010 that mentioned xml skin that should be easily parsable (https://invisioncommunity.com/forums/topic/308582-feature-request-ipboard-rest-api-jsonxml/) though some commenters there seemed not too happy with it, links seem dead and just changing to xml.php also doesn't work. There's also some mention of xml rpc api, so hoping maybe this can be just like turned on somewhere in settings (or already is?), or would require minimal time investment to set up
