Cosmo Communicator - Hardware / Loose hinge
« on: January 02, 2020, 10:41:53 am »
Hi all,
My Cosmo closes nice and tight, but when it is open the hinge is pretty loose and the top is a bit flappy if you know what I mean.

Is this normal for the Cosmo and the Gemini?

Are there any known tweaks for tightening things up a bit?  I haven't braved taking the cover plates off my Cosmo yet....

Cosmo Communicator - Hardware / NFC / Payment Experiences?
« on: December 12, 2019, 11:49:47 am »
Hi all,
Yesterday I tried using Google Pay but I ran into problems.
Every time I tried, I got an error like, "phone moved away to fast" and "try holding the phone to the terminal for longer".
I was at a shop that was not busy, so I tried several times.  I tried putting the phone to the terminal in different positions, and I always kept it there without moving.  Always got the above error, it never succeeded despite several tries.

I used Google Pay with this same associated card on my previous phone, and it always worked flawlessly.

Would appreciate hearing anyone else's story who has had either good or bad experience using the NFC functionality.

Cosmo Communicator - CoDi / Media players in Cover Display
« on: December 06, 2019, 10:54:32 am »
Hi all,
Does anyone know how to adjust which media players show up in the Cover Display media app list?

On the Cover Display if you:
* swipe in from the right and choose the play icon,
* then swipe in from the left
... you get a volume control on the right, and four media icons on the left.  The top one is Google Play Music, and the other three (on my device) are blank and greyed out.

I have DDB2, TuneIn Radio Pro, and Poweramp for my music player.

I wonder what it would take to get these apps to show up here. Does anyone know how to do this?

Cosmo Communicator - Android / Keymap weirdness?
« on: November 29, 2019, 03:41:24 pm »
Hi all,    I connected my bluetooth keyboard - I know, I know, half the reason for having a Cosmo is the fantastic keyboard, but I have this one Lenovo BT keyboard with the TrackPoint nipple thing that I love and when I'm sitting at my desk I use the one keyboard for everything: PC, laptop, phone ... it has the bluetooth multi-connect thing.    Anyways, on the Cosmo, the single and doublequote and the twiddle and backtick keys make slashes and pipes.  I haven't figured out how to do quotes via BT keyboard.      I haven't tried plugging in a USB keyboard to see if it has the same issue.         Anyone else seeing the same thing?

Hi all,

I thought the battery on the Cosmo was under the keyboard.  I even remember reading how the hardware team added a super-capacitor to ease power transfer to the other side.  However, when I'm charging, it feels like the top (right under the cover display) is warm, while the other side is cold.  Where is the battery located?

I'm also curious what's the little oval on the right side of the main screen?  I thought it was a light sensor.  However, when I turn on Adaptive Brightness, the display adapts to light levels on the Cover Display side of the device rather than the main screen side.
I can confirm using a Sensors app that the light sensor reacts to something located betwixt the cover camera and the cover display.  Same for proximity sensor (which does make sense).
Maybe it is a second light sensor that is currently disabled or otherwise unavailable?

Hi all, couple of questions:
1) Whenever I go to Settings : Battery : Battery Usage, I always see "Battery usage data isn't available".  Same for "Show full device usage".

Does anyone else see usage stats?

2) Is there a way to see the battery percent on the Cover Display?  Either in the status bar or some other method to display it temporarily?

Cosmo Communicator - Android / VoIP / SIP missing?
« on: November 26, 2019, 01:29:31 pm »
Android should have built-in SIP support, but I cannot find it.
* Normally you'd go to the "Phone" dialer and then Settings : Calling Accounts and there should be an option to create SIP accounts here, but all I see is my SIM carrier account.  No option to add SIP account.
* I looked around and couldn't find any place to add a SIP account.

I was also unable to find VoLTE options either.
Does anyone have SIP (using native Android as opposed to 3rd party app like Zoiper) or VoLTE working on their Cosmo?

Cosmo Communicator - Linux / Re-install Android when Linux comes out?
« on: November 25, 2019, 01:36:55 pm »
Hi all,
When Planet comes out with the Debian, Sailfish, Kali, etc. versions, is there any word about what will happen to our Android setups?
I fear that we'll need to re-flash the whole device and all the setup that we've done to get our Android working as we want will be undone.  Although perhaps we will be able to make a full back-up and restore of everything we've done?

I see there is this PlanetSyncAdaptor app which currently has no functionality - I open it and it just presents a <CLOSE> button.

Along the same line, I wonder if we will be able to share our SD card between Android and the various linuxes?
When I stuck an SD card in for Android, it offered a choice: for-android-only or for-portable-storage.  It seems the former is for if you want to shift apps and whatnot to your SD card, and I've heard it may encrypt the card if you do this.  The latter is for sharing media between devices, but you cannot use the SD card for apps in portable-storage mode.  It might have other restrictions too?
