"rename kernel image to 'zimage.bin'"
to
"rename kernel image to 'zImage.bin'"
which I think is the correct. If things are different here ignore my post and tel me to delete it

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Compilation Request

Well I just pointed the existence of that precompiled version to a guy that asked for it and sent it to him. Apart from that the compilation itsself was another person's job. Thanks for bothering

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Compilation Request

If someone has a working SDK for the kathrin series and of course the time and willingness i would like him(her) to compile the clisp-2.33.2 (http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/clisp/clisp-2.33.2.tar.bz2?download)
with the following configuration options "./configure --with-module=regexp --with-module=syscalls
--with-module=clx/new-clx --with-module=bindings/glibc --with-module=wildcards"
the rest is quiet typical (apart from a make config.lisp) and the INSTALL readme is in CLISPDIR/unix/ directory for any problems.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Does anybody have maxima compiled?

clisp 2.33 is out there along with a version that contains maxima too. these are working perfectly on pdaXrom (you will need libreadline or some right ncurses version) and i've been playing with clisp alot since its the only lisp i have on zaurus. cmucl or sbcl would be way too big for zaurus. gcl is a good candidate too but afaik its not ported yet. if you cannot find them post here and i'll send them to you.

i'd like to point out also the lack of af_socket module and rest in kernel needed if someone needs to work with libcap and the rest like the snort nmap. (trying to compile libcap on-board showed that these indeed are missing).

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / OZ 3.5.1 bugs I've noticed

openzaurus 3.5.1 flashed in 860 and crashes in opie. (i used the opie image)
it presents a window about searching the cf card content for media and as soon as you click ok or x it crashes. The console is working ok though ,its fb so fast and totally usable. It seems ppl have done a good job keeping the distro simple but although gui is not so important for me i suppose it should be working. Anyway im mostly into the x server image so i'm just posting the bug for the opie version for further investigation.

Off Topic forum / Best setup for (almost) prehistoric Linux box?

I wouldn't forget the *BSD. In fact NetBSD is really fast and is less specialized than Free* or Open* .I have been using FreeBSD for a long time now. Installing those huge distros like Mandrake or SUsE just fills your disk with enormous scripts that make you lose the biggest point. Knowing what's going on any time because everything is simple and clear.
If you have to use X (do not underestimate the power of pure console. it is really funny to have a beast like KDE on 17" and smaller monitors with all those fancy huge icons as if i am a crippled sitting in a wheel chair and pushing those shortcuts with my whole hand) i like Fluxbox for its simplicity or you could choose the WM that is written in your "native" programming language so that you will be able to hack it. Moreover my Zaurus made me appreciate Dillo as a browser a lot.

i got readline thx alot..i moved for awhile to qopia again since as ive posted in another thread pdaX is falling apart in my system after 3 days and becomes quiet unproductive..I face now the libncurses problem that is solved in 1.21 (i gotta dl that) . Im compiling on zaurus always with gcc 2.95 (i should upgrade that too)

Zaurus - pdaXrom / PdaXrom getting sick after 3 days of use

ive installed the pdaXrom 4 times in total and after 3 or 4 days i always get this problem..
When calling startx it prints

xauth: creating new authority file /home/root/.Xauthority..
Using authority file /home/root/.Xauthority
xauth: (stdin):1: bad \"add\" command line

sometimes says also something about mcookie that it cannot find..
I am then presented with a blank screen and if i press any key im into GUI but with no mouse. Any similar occasions or fixes?

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Common Lisp for PdaXrom

Ive tried compiling several cl implementations but no success.
GCL is compiled but asks for a library called readline.so.4 which i cannot find for the arm architecture (if someone could help id appreciate alot) and ecl cannot be compiled probably because of the gcc being version 2.95.2 .(i haent tried with the next version that is up and mentioned in the \"native sdk \" thread) as a config.log of a part of it says \"...checking for ARM division (something like that) support... error ...cannot find a good (i think that was the word) compiler\"  if someone already has that new gcc image installed could (s)he check if ecl is compiled ok? you can get the source from http://sourceforge.net/projects/ecls

Anyone solved thisone? when i reboot the xfce doesnt remember any values about suspend time and also backlight setting(its set to maximum). I have to run the Light&power app to make it remember it has to supsend and all. Oh! and suspending most of the times just doesnt happen. Ive seen it in another post too.I have to remove battery and all which makes me freak about the health of my pet. Thats the main reason im thinkin of switching to qtopia. Apart from these i really love xfce n with aterm\'s transparency its really unbeatable.
