Cxx0 Hardware / SL-C760 users - How long does your battery last?
« on: June 20, 2004, 01:05:18 pm »
make sure that the adaptor you\'re using can charge you\'re Z, my c860 had the smae problem, was using a 4.5v, 1ma charger but that coudn\'t chrarge the Z fully, my 220 to 110 with the sharp adaptor works perfectly and my usb sync charger also, so double check the adaptor before blaming it on the battery

I just use a 220 to 110 convertor and the original sharp adaptor, I tried a 220 charger but when I disconnected it it always had low power

Dear alan sir,

I can\'t give you a precise command line but I can give you some hints.

first you will need to know what interfaces you have, so run \"ifconfig\" as root, it will list the interfaces by name. I have \"eth0, eth1 and lo\", I think you should get something like ppp0, usbnet? and lo.

next step is to make an iptables rule so use \"man iptables\" and some google searches for NAT-HOWTO, basically something like this (from the NAT-HOWTO):

# Load the NAT module (this pulls in all the others).
modprobe iptable_nat

# In the NAT table (-t nat), Append a rule (-A) after routing
# (POSTROUTING) for all packets going out ppp0 (-o ppp0) which says to
# MASQUERADE the connection (-j MASQUERADE).
iptables -t nat -A POSTROUTING -o ppp0 -j MASQUERADE

# Turn on IP forwarding
echo 1 ] /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward

sounds complex but it really isn\'t, just try a few permutations and you will strike gold soon, if my z arrives soon I will post a better example

I haven\'t compiled fluxbox yet, I use debian.

I\'m still waiting for my c860 but if there is no fluxbox when it arrives I will probably compile one myself, I just love it so much

Is Fluxbox available for pdaX ?

It seems pdaX runs blackbox so fluxbox could be a drop in replacement.

For those who don\'t know what fluxbox is :

   http://fluxbox.org/

Personally I use the develeopment version of fluxbox so I don\'t have extra tabs obscuring part of the screen.

Screenshot of the stable branch, note the extra tabbed title :

   http://fluxbox.org/zoom.php?shots-dev/zodi...iac_fluxbox.jpg

Screenshots of the dev branch, note that the extra tabs are now integrated :

   http://fluxbox.org/zoom.php?shots-dev/enno...oia_fluxbox.jpg
   http://fluxbox.org/zoom.php?shots-dev/kena...nai_fluxbox.jpg

So if someone would make a dev branch version that should be preferable.

Now what all the fuss is about, or if you don\'t want to read the fluxbox site...
The biggest thing for me personally is that you get tabs like in mozilla etc, so for example you can drag an xterm and drop it on you\'re openoffice app and it will take the size openoffice and now you can switch between them by clicking the name in the titlebar or if you use sloppy focus etc on mouseover, difficult to explain but I would guess verry usefull on a limited screen device.

From the site : fluxbox = blackbox +

    * Configurable window tabs.
    * Iconbar (for minimized/iconified windows)
    * Wheel scroll changes workspace
    * Configurable titlebar (placement of buttons, new buttons etc)
    * KDE support
    * New native integrated keygrabber (supports emacs like keychains)
    * Maximize over slit option
    * Partial GNOME support
    * Extended Window Manager Hints support
    * Slit dockap ordering
    * Other minor features

ps: awaiting my Z from the ebay guy
