For Sale / Wanted / Selling A New Simpad
« on: July 08, 2005, 02:37:16 pm »
Okay, with the responses I have gotten so far, and the further realization that I really do need the extra money (and that I probably shouldn't have bought the things in the first place), and that I don't have the free time to play with these as I'd like, since I should be spending my summer doing more profitable things, sadly...

So, they both come in original box with original CD (still sealed, even), user's manual, power adapter with both US and Europe plugs, pack of 2 extra styluses, and serial cable for syncing and flashing.

Looking at the price they have gone for on ebay after the buddify deal, I am thinking that I would like to get $210US each (shipped to the US), or a bit more than that to compensate for sending them somewhere else than the US.

Okay, so now what do you all think?

For Sale / Wanted / Selling A New Simpad
« on: July 08, 2005, 02:16:00 am »
Well, I bought two Simpads from that guy on Ebay, which I thought would be great for development purposes, one for stable use and one for development.
Unfortunately, I'm running a bit short on cash since I am not getting as many hours as I'd hoped at work, so I'm going to have to sell at least one so my wife doesn't kill me.

Is anyone on here looking to buy one?

This is brand new, in the box, SL4, I would put Opensimpad on it if you would like or leave CE on it.

The same ones that guy was selling on Ebay a bit back. I've not even opened the box since it came (since I got two, figured I'd keep the other one in good condition).

Anybody interested?

p.s. The reason I'm not posting this in the for sale is that it seems to be only for Zaurii...is that so, or should I list this there?

Yeah, those pepper pads do look pretty sweet...kinda expensive, but it already comes with linux, and I'm sure the price will go down...

Very nice...

Mine came with the europe adapter as well as the American one, and it's an auto-switching supply,  so yes, you can use it in europe...

I agree that a CF port would be more useful, since you can use that for wireless networking, but you can't with SD (unless it is SDIO..which this wouldn't be, right?)

What would be ideal would be to attach a wireless network device and add a several-gig pcmcia HD to the thing...

EDIT:
Wait, come to think of it, how many GPIO pins would we need to add a USB host chip to it?

Okay, could you post a copy of your config file, then?

I've been trying to build my own image and I'm having issues.

Can anyone tell me what tag should I be using to check out OE from bitkeeper? Or does the version of Opensimpad in bitkeeper even work yet?

Or perhaps I should be asking, what method was used to build the 0.9.0rc1 images?

SIMpad forum / Uploading A New Image From Another Simpad

I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work, with the proper adapter (which shouldn't be too hard to find), but I was just wondering if anyone has ever used a simpad to flash another simpad?

See, I've got two of them, and I was thinking it might be interesting to use as a portable Simpad development station (not for compiling, I would do that via SSH on my home comp, then transfer it to the "dev simpad").

Anyway, just a crazy thought...

Sorry, the Simpad is dead.
I've got the confirmation today at the Linuxtag at Karlruhe, Germany. Stop wasting any effort on it. Same applies to the GPE efforts on iPAQs. The search for "the" platform goes on.

It seems like the OE developers are still unsure which one is the platform to actively support from now on?

Maybe the Nokia 770. I'am just guessing.

Seems to me that my Simpad is still working, so to me, the Simpad isn't dead...maybe I'll have to do anything I want done for it myself, but that's okay...it's cheaper than buying another device that will do what I can already do with the simpad...

Well, if that's the case, then that would explain why it doesn't work :|

Can anybody confirm if this is true or not?

You can use these drivers to get usb-client-mode syncing to work:

[a href=\"http://www.silentservices.de/simpad/sl4-usb.zip]http://www.silentservices.de/simpad/sl4-usb.zip[/url]

but it is impossible for the usb hardware to be used for things like external keyboards or hard drives - it isn't a question of having the right software drivers - the hardware support isn't there.
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=85515\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

I know it's impossible to use it as a USB host. I just want to be able to transfer files from my linux box to the dang thing without using serial...

Thanks for the link, but that's very much not what I'm looking for...

Well, I'll try it with a Windows machine to see if it works at all...but I am using opensimpad and I am using linux on my main computer...
