For Sale / Wanted / For Sale: Smartq Q7 (not V7) – Uk

Sadly I have decided to sell my Q7. I just don’t use it, apart from very occasional eBook use.

Excellent enthusiast site

YouTube videos

UMPC and Chippy have made many videos including this one, by way of example

The device is in perfect unmarked condition with the original box, contents and packaging. In addition I shall include an 8Gb SD card, a snug fit neoprene case and a USB charge cable, i.e. an original USB/PC Xbox360 Power Charger Cable for Wireless Headset

In summary, the device is an excellent eBook and PDF reader with very acceptable web browsing. There are other uses such as music and video player which needs some tweaking to achieve good results but I haven’t spent much time on that.

When I bought it last year the total cost including shipping and UK customs fees totalled £170.

Ubuntu is installed as default and WinCE is available as an option.

PM me if you are interested.

General Discussion / What Ever Happened To Tkc?
« on: January 05, 2007, 04:55:02 pm »
IMHO tkc did a fantastic job for the Zaurus community. This particular forum has been very self indulgent in slagging them off, mostly unfairly too.

I started off with a SL5500 and now have a C-1000 and have re-purchased where available all my apps. Particular favourites being Expense, Card, Player, ToDo, Address, Explorer, Shopper and BackUp.

It saddens me that Video and Mail are not supported on the clamshell, but then it is hard to blame Shawn for this, the Zaurus is dead and he just saw it coming sooner than the rest of us.

Software / Which Opera For Cxx00?
« on: June 27, 2006, 04:04:18 pm »
If it helps, I am running Opera on my C1000, version opera_7.55.6079-c3k-2_arm.ipk.

I am assuming that you have the link to the relevant feed already.

Post if  stuck.

Agreed, StageOne is a must have and well worth the cost.

Also check out TuxCardz, free and excellent. Does things differently to StageOne and, for some applications, I prefer it.

Choice is great.

Very interesting!

The significance is in the phrase "will continue development for the Zaurus device". If anyone has inside info on Sharp’s plans for the Zaurus it would be Hancom. So their confidence bodes well, methinks.

After all, if the Zaurus had reached the end of the road then why would Hancom bother?

Or perhaps I'm clutching at straws

Actually there are 3 versions, 2 Japan VGN-UX50, VGN-UX90/S and 1 US VGN-UX180P

See this Dynamism link for further info.

Software / Announce: Zbedic 1.1

Yes, thanks for the heads up. This is one of the esssential Zaurus apps.

The English dictionary is identical to the $15 BDicty version. Multilanguage support is not so good and I need BDicty for French and Spanish.

Zbedic reader works great with Wikipedia, Wiktionary, WikiQuote, WikiSimple, etc.

That little lot swallows up half of my 1gb SD card.

You can get a good idea as to size and shape from this video

The presentation is a bit drawn out as he takes his time over it but you get to see it in action and being held. The other videos I have seen only focus on the display and o/s.

The big issue for me is whether or not it  fits in my cargo pants pocket. The beaty of the Zaurus is that it is with me at all times, whether or not I have a bag.

Is there any interest in checking this out?

512Mb NAND
640 x 480 screen

Pure surmising on my part, but I wonder if this might provide Sharp with the necessary spur to produce the Zaurus that we all wish for.

They could probably afford to sell it for a darn sight less than the Sony.

Just found this cool Japanese interactive page showing GPS capability and much more. I can only go by the pics though, those who who ead Japanese will glean much more.

Also check the links under V Vision.

See Akihabara News

"So yet another disappointing release by Sharp, that see their pocket computers, release after release, transformed more and more into an oversized dictionary."

Harsh, but they have a point.

Does that mean that Tuxcards won't run on a FAT16 card?
