This sounds interesting (like I said, I use the command line ipkg).  I think I'm gonna give this a shot.

But two questions (sort of):

1.  In another thread someone mentioned the last CVS version of the package manager installs package deps to RAM and not the location of the initial package being installed.  Does the one in upgrades fix this?

2.  What on earth is a compressed feed?  (Is it a .gz version of an entire feed directory?  Cuz' that would make downloading a whole feed WAY easier than what I'm doing using a dir grabber to grab all the files...)  And if it is this, where do I get it?

I use the command line ipkg (and ipkg-link since I install everything to sd card), but I am wondering the same thing:

Why isn't aqpkg the default packagemanager if opie-packagemanager is broken?

What's wrong with 1.7?

It seems to work well enough for me.  I installed the USB net driver and Qtopia Desktop 1.7.  I hook up and click "sync" and it syncs.  I have all my data on my Mac and all my data on my Z.

OK, so it's a lousy _looking_ application, but it works.

I mean, I would be thoroughly thrilled if there was some way to do a bidirectional sync with the Apple PIM apps, but hey--this works for now.

Am I wrong here?  Does it not work for you?

I've installed the crosswords game from the Opie feed, but I have no idea where to find crossword files for free.

If someone knows where, please tell me.

Unfortunately, this article is not very informative (it basically only shows what a .desktop file looks like).

I am really looking for some more detailed info:

What is a .desktop file?  What program (the launcher, each app, what?) accesses and uses that file?  How does it play with mime.types, etc., etc., etc.

This info has to exist somewhere.  I have to imagine that any developer knows how these actually work.  Perhaps one of them could offer up the info.  It would be most appreciated.

Well it's definately an SD vs CF thing for me.

When I use the SD card, I get skips all over the place (sucks 'cause this is where I'm storing all my user "documents") but when I put them on the CF card, everything plays with no skips at all.

Oh well, at least that's the solution.

If I install Jeode from this package, are the two sample apps that come with it (the icons are already installed as part of the package) supposed to work?
