I bought SL- 5000 Zaurus about 2 years ago. I used it briefly with Windows 98 and then I stopped using it. Now I have XP and have spent hours to get my unit to work, but without any luck so far -
The SL network connection shows up. By pressing the Sync button on the cradle I can enable the connection. I can ping to 192.168.129.201. ipconfig shows 192.168.129.1 as the IP of my machine. Both on Zaurus and on the PC in TCP/IP properties I have defined the connections to obtain the IP address automatically.
I have disabled XP firewall as well as shut down the anti virus software. I even removed the PC from the internet by disconnecting it from the router.
When I try to Sync, the dialog box appears where I select OK. It comes back after a few seconds apparently without doing anything. The OK and cancel buttons in the dialog box are re-enabled. I don't see any activity on Zaurus.
When I try to file transfer, a window with a text to indicate that connection is being established appears. After few seconds of no activity I get connection error window informing me that there is no response from the partner.
I have tried rebooting PC as well as power recycle on Zaurus.
NOTHING SEEMS TO HAVE WORKED FOR ME. HAVING SPENT MORE THAN HALF A DOZEN HOURS, I HAVE NOW GIVEN UP AND DECIDED TO SEEK HELP FROM THE EXPERTS .. PLEASE LET ME KNOW HOW TO GET THE FILE TRANSFER GOING ..
