wifi-only version

Pro:
 - full screen usage

I love this too! There is however one major issue with that. It seems that there is no way of navigating back in Google Chrome. Does anyone here know of a method of assigning a key to the back function?

Help is appreciated
Alt+Left arrow key

Ah, me. again. The latest. I decided to grasp the nettle and go for a factory reset, throwing away all the stuff I'd spent ages installing, and the screens I'd spent similar time re-arranging. To no purpose the 8.1 update ran exactly along the lines of all the previous updates, ending in the same abort install message on the Android Recovery menu, and back to 7.1.1. I've very few options left, as far as I can see. I might try the multi boot option, which would appear to give the whole system a good kicking, and in fact, from the previous attempts to get a rooted Android, the present problems might have arisen.

You can flash 8.1 with the flash tool (ie  fresh install,  not upgrading). Firmware can be found here http://support.planetcom.co.uk/index.php/Gemini_Firmware

Nothing here as well, and no reports from others yet (just checked on IRC/Telegram/Facebook/Indiegogo), though there's a message from Mike on FB saying that it began rolling out to some devices yesterday, and will expand to all devices over the coming days. Keep in mind that this is the OTA release for unrooted, Android-only Wifi+LTE models, the files for the manual installation will be released in a couple of weeks.

Planer computers doesn't out right lie in their communications... but they have always bern very creative with the truth. When they talk about rolling out to a limited number of devices initially, they could simply mean they are rolling out to a couple of developer devices in house.

Varti, where is your source for the couple of weeks for release of manual installation files?

I'd imagine this is fairly typical - prove it works seamlessly before rolling out to the wider user base. This is the first time planet have done an OS update so I can imagine its a big deal for them.

If this were the case then releasing the files for manual flashing would allow people or are happy to experiment to further test the product before the OTA is rolled out. IMO Planet are stalling for time

I guess this is British. It proceeds in the same way as the Brexit.
Lol. I want to be offended but I cant really argue with your assessment. I am reminded of a quotation from the late great Douglas Adams -
"I love deadlines. I love the whooshing noise they make as they go by"

So I haven't checked out the new driver yet but maybe, just maybe, we can stop using hwcomposer in the very near future...?

Gemini PDA - Sailfish OS / UK Keyboard in Sailfish 3

I just assumed I was being dense and was missing a configuration option somewhere. It is beyond poor that we are missing functionality for a core component like the physical keyboard.

So let me get this absolutely straight - there is no android app support? So I'm paying 30 euros for Microsoft exchange support? Don't get me wrong I'm happy to support them but what a funking anticlimax.

Ah ok , I think we have a Kingston sd4000 somewhere at work I can yet out,  anything special I need?  It's display lynk. I have the USB  c adapter needed.

V2 displaylink has open source drivers and v3, AFAIK, does not. You will need the evdi kernel module and then some user space binaries for arm64. It may be possible but certainly not for the faint of heart.

Would it be possible to get USB c full dock support for Dell dock  wd15? Aka ethernet/hdmi/display port/usb/power delivery?

This doesn't use displaylink technology so it is very unlikely you could ever use the video output. Impossible, I would go so far to say.

Google have approved the latest Gemini OS build - so fingers crossed will be available shortly. Wonder what improvements have been made this time?
That's good news, I bricked (and subsequently wiped) my Gemini about a week ago and I'm holding off using it in anger until the Oreo update
