Not a problem. Do my directions in the pinned thread need updating?

No, all looked good.

Thanks again.

pdaXii13 ought to support WPA. Which card do you have? Ambicom WL-1100C? If so, you may just have to update your firmware.

https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?showto...&hl=modules

That thread has a kernel that supports firmware flashing and instructions (I think, definitely for the kernel).

A lot of people seem to be liking Debian, which supports WPA, is stable, current, etc.

I am just putting in pdaxii13, I'll try that for bit and see if I can update firware on my Ambicom card and get the WPA to work.

thanks again.

Hi all,

I too am looking for a distro that does the same kind of things, however for me something that important is WPA
I had r198 for some time and I never got my wireless working correctly. I spent months trying every bit of advice ( thanks to you all ) but no luck.
I am sure that in time r198 will be the one to run and I will go back it.
As for now, I need all the same types of thing requested about but with WPA. I will not modify my home config to get the Z on it.
It is possible that it's just my Ambicom card. Too old. I don't really want buy a new on only to find out that it make no difference.

My first thought is going pdaXii13 as suggested but I don't know if it supports WPA.

Any thoughts would be great.

thanks

See the pinned "is your Z dead" thread. I think there are instructions on how to do what you want there.

thanks,

I have taken my unit back to the lastest backup from Trisoft.

thanks for the quick help.

Hi all,

Firstly Happy New Year to all!!

I have spent a lot of time trying to get my wireless working under r198.  So far I have had no luck.
Due to it not working my Z is just sitting there for months and months, I will admit that I almost desided to replace it.
I have however decided to keep it, re-flash it to something else that I should be able to get it working under the older version.
I can't seem to find any info on how to flash it back.
I believe that I will have to take back to factory then work my way to whatever ver I want.
Anyway, if someone can point down the right path I would very gratful.

Thanks in advance.

When I use my Ambicom card, you have to configure it to get it to work. To get on to any close open network, try

Code: [Select]
iwconfig wlan0 mode managed essid any;dhcpcd wlan0
Or install my Wlanconfig2 tool. I'm going to try to add in WPA, so it may become more useful to you later.

Hey thanks, Your iwconfig suggestion got it up no probs.

I am going to search for you tool now and give it a shot.

thanks again.

Hi all,

I am running R198 SP8 on a C1000.
I have 2 wireless cards. The ambicom 1100 card and the symbol spectrum card.

At this point the Ambicom cards light flashes and that’s it. I have to bring up the wlan0 interface to get it to be seen with ifconfig.

I can't get the Symbol card to do anything. I have found and put the files in the correct spot as posted here but still no go.

I have the latest wifi radar and all the goodies.
I don't use the unit all that much because I don't have any access. I would love to be able to scan for wireless networks and then log into which one I can or have access too.
I run WPA at home and would love to get it going on that as I am sure more users would.
If my cards are too old then I would like to upgrade the firmware if I have to so long as someone lets me know how and where I can get the firmware.

If I have to will be go out and buy a brand-new card if someone can let me know which card is the best for scanning and WPA etc.

Sorry for this being long but I really want to get it up and running and finally in a state that allows me to use it and enjoy it.

Thanks in advance.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Problem With The New Wifi-radar (1.9.8)

Installed wifi-radar_1.9.8-1 and python-threading
I got error below. (wifi-radar doesn't launch)
Code: [Select]
traceback (most recent call last):
File "usr/local/bin/wifi-radar", line 26. in ?
import time, os, signal, sys, re, ConfigParser, threading, socket
file "usr/lib/python2.4/threading.py", line 13, in ?
ImportError: No module named collections
I looked in usr/lib/python2.4/ and there are no *.py files, they are all *.pyc files.
I opened threading.pyc in a text editor and there are only 2 lines of code, which are not regular text.
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=162540\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

try these:

wifi_radar_1.9.8_2_armv5tel.ipk ( 23.41k )
python_collections_2.4.1_armv5tel.ipk ( 8.12k )
wpa_supplicant_0.4.7_2_armv5tel.ipk ( 117.34k )
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=162569\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]
This is working. I had to edit wifi-radar.conf and change:
interface = eth0 to wlan0
I haven't tried wpa yet, but it launched and detected 3 wireless spots.
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=162572\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

it should be:

interface = auto_detect

and wifi radar will automatically detect the interface for you. most cf wifi cards are detected as wlan0 but some are eth0 so setting it to auto detect allows you to switch cf wifi cards without needing to mess with config file...
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=162578\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

By installing these 3, the app starts now. I see that I can add configs but I don't see anything about scanning for wireless networks.
In the message above it said that it detected 3 wireless spots.. this is not happening for me.
Am I missing something?

Thanks

Andreas

Hi,

I have installed this hoping to get my C1000 running R198 back up on the wireless network.
So far no luck at all.
When I click on this nothing happens. I found the conf file but not the program.
Where is the app so that I can try to run it and see what the errors are.
I am dying to get my unit up on the network.

Thanks

Hi,

I have never seen a commandline utility, but did you try "Wellenreiter". It has a nice GUI and it did work well under Beta3. I have not installed it on Rc121 yet because there was no need for me to do it so far.

Cheers, Jan

I have searched around and so far no luck.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Working Cards With Wpa And Rc121
« on: December 10, 2006, 08:42:44 pm »
Hi all,

I am unable at this point to get my Ambicom card to with with RC121 and use it on my WPA-PSK setup.
I have read that a few people have gotten some other cards to work.
I know that my firmware on my card is old. 1.34 and I need  much newer firmware but I can't update it, no luck.
So if someone could update my card for me or I'll buy a card that should work.

Can anyone recommend a card that will work with RC121 and WPA-PSK.

Thanks in advance.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / 1.1.0r121 Final Config

Hi,

I had to reinstall r121 because I tried OZ/GPE and a NAND-Backup of R121 is not restoreable. Btw: I found pdaXrom better than OZ/GPE for my needs. Anyway, For future use I wrote a script to do the nessecary fixes to r121 and to install the extra packages I need.

Here is what I wrote in https://www.oesf.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=22119

Quote
Here are the Fixes that I had to do:

- wpa_supplicant script: Line 26 of /etc/rc.d/init.d/wpa_supplicant file. There is a double hyphen -- in the middle of the line that calls wpa_supplicant in daemon mode. This causes the wpa_supplicant not to load.

- The default install does not have the [Fn] + [1,2,3,4] hot keys correctly set-up. You need to change the line in /usr/X11R6/bin/startx from ->
defaultserverargs=" -nolisten tcp"
to ->
defaultserverargs=" -nolisten tcp -kb"

For my WPA-PSK-configuration see

https://www.oesf.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=22285

I don't have an ambicom-card, but I saw many posts about that card. Is it somehow special? My D-Link card works well with WPA-PSK.

I changed my keyboard-mapping to support german keys. What exactly do you want to change?

I don't use overclocking so I can't help there, sorry.

Cheers, Jan

Thanks for your help. I got the keyboard thing fixed. So that's one down.
I am looking for one of the DLink cards so I can get the WPA working.

thanks again.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / 1.1.0r121 Final Config
« on: December 06, 2006, 09:02:47 pm »
Hi all,

I have reinstalled r121 from scratch and so far I have many things working that I had troubles with before.
I do have some issues that I would like to get fixed, I have looked the site up and down for the answers but no luck.
One thing is I would like to get keyboard mapping corrected.
The zoom, brightness don't work long with some other buttons all of which have been mentioned before.
The other is that the CPU over clocking doesn't stay if you suspend. My time is ok if I suspend that issue I don't have.
The volume is very very low and it's set to max.
The other big issue is that I would like to get my ambicom card ( WPA-PSK )working, right now I use my symbol card.

Thanks for any help in advance.
