I wonder where could I find a NEW Zaurus SL-C3200. Pricejapan where I bought my last one looks like doesn't sell any more. Any suggestions to find a NEW one?.

I'd rather get a HTC Universal at a small fraction of the price. Although it's released three years back, it features the closest form factor and hardware designs to the Z's. Plus it has full connectivity (GSM/GPRS, Bluetooth 1.2, WiFi 802.11b, USB, IR, WCDMA/UMTS/3G) and a PXA270 520MHz processor. Plus plus it now can run Linux (Angstrom, Poky, and even Debian EABI)!  And no SIM lock.

that would be my choice, but AFAIK it misses usb-host (correct if I'm wrong)

I would be very surprised if it has to phone home every time you want WiFi. WiFi is many times faster than PHS which is why they offer both options: why allow your users to connect to the net by someone else's WiFi service when you could be charging them for a data call ? - because PHS is too slow, users wouldn't accept it.

 

The simlock of emobile's em-one has nothing to do with what you've written. You need an active sim to switch on the 802.11g aerial. No PHS calls, no nothing, a pure and simple limitation so it can only be used by active emobile customers. As easy as that.

Some of you guys must be blind; there's no sense in crying over SIM lock - it's PHS. Do you have a PHS network in your country ? I think not. Have you ever used one ?

The problem is not the simlock by itself. The problem comes if the simlock is like the one at sharp's EM-ONE, which doesn't lets you use the wi-fi capabilities unless the unit is loaded with an active emobile contract sim card. i dont need the sim, but the wifi. i can't have an active emobile sim outside japan (or can I?).

I hope they don't simlock it the way they did with the sharp em-one (whose wifi was unusable if you don't own an active(contract) em-one SIM card).

Any info about availability?

Here's the scoop regarding my keyboard:
The seller only has the type he sent me.
He said he will refund my money if I return it to him at my expense.
It would cost over half what I paid for it to send it back to China.
All I can say at this point is this:
Buyers beware ... the item you see may not be the item you receive.
Be prepared to expect a substitute.
Ask questions first, and buy later.

if you paid using paypal then you can fill one of their forms asking for the refund of the money you paid because you received a different product than the one you paid for. Even if the seller signed off ebay, this will work (it worked for me once, two weeks ago, same problem). Give it a try, and good luck.

the original AC adapter from the sl-c3200 (at least the one that came with my pricejapan unit, shipped to Spain) comes with a multi-voltage AC adapter (for example, the slc-1000 doesn't).

Look at the AC adapter of your sl-c3200... if it says sth. like 110-240v 50/60Hz you just need the cheap plug adapter of the picture. If it only says 110 v (I guess it doesn't)... you'll also need a converter.

I'm going to Spain on tueday and want to take my Zaurus, but only just realised I only have the UK adapter for it. So I was wondering is it going to be OK to use the original plug, going into a UK adapter that I have, and then going into a two pronged spain adapter as well? That would mean there was two separate adapters on the end of the plug is that possible or will it damage my Zaurus?

it's easier and cheaper if you buy a plug adapter here that converts the two flat prones to two round ones. it's 1.5 EUR and I'm sure you can find it in the same airport. (But you can also find it in any "ferreteria" (hardware & supplies shop, that's how we call it ), not necessary any specialized electric supply shops).

This is the so-easy-to-find adapter.

(by the way, it's the one I use with my SL-C3200)
