Cxx0 Hardware / I'm Looking For A Dead 860
« on: September 11, 2005, 05:06:55 pm »
If anyone out there has a dead 860 that they want to get rid of, I'd be interested.

I need to replace my sd slot and I'm having trouble finding a separate one.

Hardware Mods / Noise Gate
« on: September 11, 2005, 04:26:18 pm »
Does anyone know if there is a noise gate on the input circuit for the microphone  (through the headphone jack)?

If so, is there a way to disable it?

I have an 860 although I suppose that the circuit would be common for all clamshells

Thanks in advance.

General Discussion / Ko/pi And Sync To Win Xp / Outlook
« on: March 29, 2005, 09:12:28 pm »
I've just started using KO/PI and its great.  I tried a version last year and it just wasn't quite what i was looking for, but the work done since then is fabulous.

One thing I need to do is sync to outlook on windows xp.  I've been able to do it by sync'ing KO/PI with the sharp DTM database and then sync'ing the sharp DTM database with outlook.  This works fine, but its a 2 step process.

Can KO/PI be configured to sync directly to outlook?

General Discussion / Ko/pi And Month View Formats
« on: March 29, 2005, 09:08:23 pm »
Does anyone know how to turn off the display of the time of day for events in the month view in KO/PI?

I find that the time part just takes up too much space on the display.

Sharp ROMs / Anyone Use Oz Pim On Cacko 1.22?
« on: March 08, 2005, 04:23:24 pm »
Just wondering if anyone has used oz pim on the latest cacko.  I know people will suggest using ko/pi, but the one thing I like about oz (i used it on tkc rom before) was the ability to change priorities on tasks from the main list without going into edit mode.

If anyone has tried it I'd like to know if the sync worked with MS Outlook.

Thanks

Linux Issues / Web Acess To Sendmail On Redhat
« on: February 02, 2005, 07:46:12 am »
Sorry folks this isn't Zaurus related, but you folks are the only unix people I know.

Does anyone know how to give web access to email.  I've got sendmail/xinetd running on a redhat system which is typically accessed through outlook on windows PC's.  I'd like to have remote access for some people outside my firewall and a web access system seems right.   I've read about squirrelmail and imp webmail and will go with one of those, but I am looking for an opinion about what is best.  Something that a lot of people use and is easy to set up.

P.S.  Or if someone knows some linux specific forums, i'd appreciate a link.

Thanks

Sharp ROMs / Help On Using Package Manager
« on: January 24, 2005, 07:14:09 pm »
Just a quick couple of questions.  I'm using Cacko 1.22 (excellent rom) and doing various package install from the network.  I'm just wondering how to use the package manager.

Does the list of packages always update each time you use it?

Does the Upgrade button update the list or does it update and already installed packages?

Sharp ROMs / Kudos To The Team
« on: January 15, 2005, 01:18:33 pm »
Very nice new rom.  I've just installed it and it looks great.  There was even a change that I was told couldn't be done, but they figured it out anyway.

Also a very elegant fix to the problem of the background image being duplicated one below the other when in portrait mode.

Sharp ROMs / Cacko 121b - Nethack And Kino2
« on: December 23, 2004, 07:19:44 pm »
hi - i'm using cacko 1.21b on my 860.  i'm trying to install nethack, but the version from the zaurus software index (qpe-nethack) doesn't even show up in the list when i try to install packages.  Is there another version out there that is packaged for this rom?

also, i want to view some videos, but they don't run.  I have an assotment of mpg, mpeg, avi, mov files but nothing plays.  I try to run them and it just flashes a bit and then back to the kino screen.  This is odd as i used to use TKC and never had a problem with kino2.  Any ideas?

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / What Are Various Directories In Download Section
« on: December 01, 2004, 08:28:48 pm »
I may have missed something, but.. what are all the various directories in the feed section?

base, console, devel, e, gnome, gpe, libs, opie, unknown, x

Is this just a sub-dividing the long list of packages? I presume I can install from any of the directories, but if I load opie then can I install from all but gpe and visa-versa?  And what about "x" can I install from there?

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Question - Is 3.5.2 Ready?
« on: December 01, 2004, 04:14:24 pm »
Seems kind of odd to ask, since lots of people are using it, but have the development team actually released this new version?  I didn't see a release announcement

General Discussion / Better Batteries For The Z ?
« on: November 22, 2004, 09:10:40 pm »
Well, its been over a year that my 860 has been out and I'm thinking that battery technology has improved over that time.

Are there smaller batteries available that are the same size as the smaller battery for the C series, but with the staying power of the larger one?

Cxx0 Hardware / Need New Sd Socket
« on: November 22, 2004, 09:43:26 am »
anyone know where to get a new socket for my sd card or at least the part number?  It got a bit messed up for no apparent reason when I was putting my sd card in.

I've taken my Z apart and got it so it will work, but some of the contacts inside the sd socket are a bit bent and I'd like to replace it.  (bought it in Japan more than a year ago, so I don't have a warrenty.)

Its only the sd socket i want to replace which is just a small piece of metal with a spring for ejecting and a few gold contacts and sensors.  It looks like it only has about a dozen solder points so it shouldn't be too hard to do.

My only other option is to just leave my sd card inside and transfer files over the usb link.

Its a little disturbing because I didn't do anything unusual to break it.  I was just putting the sd card in and it seemed to bump into something.  I took the card out and saw a gold contact in an obviously wrong position.

Cxx0 Hardware / taking apart 860 - question
« on: November 21, 2004, 12:26:53 pm »
something is messed up in the sd slot on my 860.  I need to take it apart, but after removing all of the screens I can see ( 7 of them ), it doesn't come apart.

It seems like something has to be released at the front edge near the cancel / ok button, but I can't see any tab or anything there.

There also seems to be a trick of some kind near the earphone jack

Has anyone taken one of these apart?  What should I look for?

EDIT - NEVER MIND - I GOT IT
