X/Qt / 6000 Keymap
« on: May 27, 2006, 12:20:37 pm »
Hallo,

I just installed pdaxqtrom on my 6000 and everything si working fine as expected (great work indeed!) except for the keymapping.
I tried to download and copy the .xmodmaprc for the 6000 in /etc/X11/kb, to run xmodmap -pke > /home zaurus/.xmodmaprc with .xmodmaprc in /home/zaurus, but none helped.
The mapping is always wrong (no : or " for example).

Can someone help me to set this up correctly?

Thank you very much!

Adalberto

General Discussion / Probelm With Multiple Sd Partion On Sharp Rom
« on: May 24, 2006, 08:10:30 pm »
Hi all,

I tried toset up and use my SD card with 2 partitions following the instruction in the Link here.
The only think I did not do was changing the /etc/pcmcia/ide.opts file as I was not doing anything on the CF card.
The partitions where created but when I insert the SD card, only 1 (mmcda1) is automounted.
I can manually mount/umount the second partition but I would prefer to have it done automatically.
My impression is that /etc/sdcontrol2 is not used.
What can I do to solve this?

I also noticed that the howto suggests to change /etc/ipkg.conf with "dest CF" also for the SD card. Shouldn't it be "dest SD" or "dest card"?

One last think, when I mount the second partition, it appears in the file tab as "SD" too.
Is there a way to make it appear as "SD2" or so, to distinguish it from the first one?

Thank you very much,
Good night,
Adalberto

Are there any news regarding GPE syncing with a Desktop PIM?

It would be great if it could sync wil Outlook, maybe via Qtopia Desktop like the OPIE apps do?

Thanks,

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Games Under Gpe
« on: May 01, 2006, 12:04:58 pm »
One thing I really miss in GPE, even though it is not really a very "serious" request, are games.

in the standard QT environment, as well as in embedded Debian or PdaXrom, there are many good games I would really like to see natively under GPE.

In a very personal ranking I would really like to see:

1) Exult (It is both in QTE version and in Pocketdebian)
2) Crimson Skies
3) Battle for Wesnoth
4) MAME (It works very well, at least for the 1970' and 80' games on my 150MHZ nokia 7710!!!)

I am sure this list is far from complete but would be very nice
I would really appreciate if at least an attempt could be done for some of them!

Thanks a lot anyway for the great effort put in OZ!

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Collie Oz-opie 3.5.4 Issues
« on: March 21, 2006, 06:49:20 pm »
Hi,
I just installed OZ 3.5.4 Opie image on my 5500 and liked it very much.
I found a couple of issues tough:

1) I attached a SanDisk 802.11b Low power card, and while it is recognized and I can configure it with the network tool, I have serious stability issues with my home WiFi connection using a 128bit WEP encription. The card connects but loses the link after a short period (I can barely update the feed list!) and I have to extract it, suspend and resume and reinsert it to have the connection back for a short while
2) My SD card is recognized and I can use it, but it is not shown in the card applet in the panel
3) Apparently the automatic time update is a bit erratic as it seems not to consider the timezone and sometimes it completely changes the time
4) Sometimes it freezes, especially with the CF card inserted

I hope this issues can be easily solved because I like the new rom a lot! :-)

PS: speaking of small old bugs never corrected, apparently the console can still not be closed using the exit command, as in the good old 3.1 times! ;-)

Software / Smartmovie
« on: August 12, 2005, 01:50:37 pm »
Hi,
did someone try Smartmovie for the Sharp Zaurus?
Smartmovie Web page

It is widely used on Symbian Smartphones with apparently good success.

How does it work in "formatting" videos for the Z and as a player?

Thanks,
regards,
Adalberto

General Discussion / Extremememory 2gb Sd
« on: August 12, 2005, 05:39:00 am »
Hi,
I just bought an extrememory 2GB SD card.
It is recognized in my PC, but my 6000L (stock kernel) apparently does not like it.
Did someone try it?
I know some people had the 1GB SD working, but any experience with the 2GB one?
Did someone try a different 2GB card and has it working?
I wonder if maybe the 6000 cannot handle big cards.

Thank you,
regards,
Adalberto

Guylhem Rom / On Keyboard
« on: May 16, 2005, 07:38:09 am »
About the keyboard issue in Guylhem rom, there are 2 things that, as a non programmer, I do not understand:

1) If we use the modified table, then we can only use external keyboards but the internal one will be screwed up? Or I will be ale to use the internal keyboard with its special keys with the new table from Guylhem?
2) Why not write a driver for the keyborad applet, as done in IRK for the usb keyboards? I understand that some keys are hardcoded, but the IRK should have overcome this somehow as it works with external, non Zaurus specific keyboards.

In case, would it at least be possible to write a script taht changes the keyboard tables when using an USB keyboard or the internal/IR one?

X/Qt / Pocketdebian With Xqt Or Keypeeble?
« on: May 14, 2005, 09:52:29 am »
ADF,
I have seen you are now using pocketdebian with keypeeble (VNC).

I am still using the Xqt solution, but I would be really interested in knowing your experience.
What are, in your opinion the pros and cons of the 2 solutions?

Is it only a matter of hving less packet installed with the VNC approach?

Thanks,
Ciao,

X/Qt / Out Of Space In Pocketdebian/xqt?
« on: May 13, 2005, 11:38:49 am »
Hi,
Today I run in a weird issue.

I was in Pocketdebian (via XQT) and was trying to upgrade my system when, in the middle of the new package download, i received:
Code: [Select]
Err http://ftp.debian.org testing main bzip2 1.0.2-6
Error writing to output file - write (28 No space left on device [IP: 208.185.25.35 80]
Err http://ftp.debian.org testing main bzip2 1.0.2-6
Bad header line [IP: 208.185.25.35 80]

I checked the available space on my CF and I had around 80MB free (the upgrade needed only 14Mb of new files).
Someone has an idea what is happening?

Thank you,
regards,

Adalberto

General Discussion / Socket Bt Module
« on: April 11, 2005, 05:12:49 am »
Hi,

I am trying to make my socket BT (rev F) card work with the fast kernel from Guylhem, and was looking for the right kernel module to load.
Could someone tell me which one should I use?

Is maybe the BT driver ipk from tumnus containing the kernel module too?

Thanks for the info.

6000 - Tosa / What Bluez For Guylhem Fast Kernel?
« on: February 21, 2005, 12:50:45 pm »
Hi,

I wanted to use my socket rev F. card with the fast kernel but:

1) the bluez ipks in the ZUG howto (both the normal and the preemt one) do not work, the same for the updated ipk from tumnus (found in This thrrad)
2) The bluez ipk found on Guylhem site, in the topic about using a SCO headset, for some reason is not correctly managed by the software installer and I cannot install it (Itried to d/l it twice with no success).

Did someone manage to install the bluez drivers on the fast kernel?
And what ipk did you use?

Thank you for the help

General Discussion / Lan Network Connection
« on: February 09, 2005, 03:39:53 am »
Hi,
I Have a socket CF LAN card and I wanted to use it on my 6000 with the guyhlem fast kernel.

But even after setting up the LAN connection in the network screen, and having set it to auto mount, and having disabled all WiFi automount options, not only does it not connect when I insert it, but I do not even see the LAN option in the network applet!

The card is correctly recognized at plug in tough.

Is there something I am missing?
Does the card and the lan connection work with the 6000 stock Kernel (I know I used it with the 5500, at least with the 2.3x Roms)?
Maybe it is again a "driver not loaded" issue? In that case what should I check?

Any help would be appreciated as in my office I do not have WiFi and this would allow me to connect the Z.
Thanks a lot in advance,

Adalberto
